thats proper djing the original oldskool style todays mixing just sounds like one continous track i know which i prefer but thats my opinion yours may differ
you clearly don't know what your chattin about. that bit of beat juggling at the start was class. If anything the beats started to drift away from each other later in the set. Still Jungle is harder to mix than modern stuff. Were is your video kbloodster..?? no were cos u aint got no skills so button it
Ok, I will try to explain my question: what is the song with the backward talking? At around 4:45? I heard that song like 10 years ago, and thought is was badass.
All of the people who I know who dont like jungle think its just mindless repetetive music that can be made by anyone. Bearing in mind they listen to Indie. I've told them before that jungle is about a million times harder to make than Indie and music like that but they dont believe me. Anyone back me up?
i see alot of kids at teh moment that cant mix and dont see the value of it, its weird. its to do with respect for the art. when i started i used to stand at the front of raves and watch teh dj's hypnotized for hours picking up tekniques, watching how people did things slightly differently from each other. i think its very important to do that. so for kids that cant go see legends in there area or whatever, this videos prety ace.
Do you -wanna be- ... -wanna be-... A junglist, indivuaaaal, who loves and honors the nations of beats and druuuaaaamzzzzz?!
AHHH Music to MY ears :) I first discovered jungla/drum and bass when I was really young, but then I really got into it when playing GTA: Liberty city stories (one radio station when you enter a car had only jungle woohooo)
well his records are classics, his syncing isn't that brlliant, the beatjuggling thing is a part of jungle; in drum n bass it's far less used cauls there are less variations on the beatbars. his swiching isn't that much of a blast... everybody can do this if you feel the rhythm
well m8, for a start as a dj you know and feel your records no matter how many variations of beats, you know when to attack (sub)consciously. The beats may be at random but the crucial kicks and snares are are always constant, that's what lets us dance (and that's the thing that needs to be synced), take those away and the music becomes chaos. The beatjuggle patterns from the dj (inbetween) are at random, just like scratching: at the end of a bar the constant needs to KICK in.
Jungle has a lot of variations in its beats, thats why if sounds ok to cut that often, dnb is more constant with less variation and it wouldn't sound that great, never the less in some subgenres of dnb it still sounds ok, ex. LTJ bukem. You don't want to try this (that often) in the so called 'jump up' dnb.
2 minutes onward, goose bump material. I love the low fart sound of this tunes. almost nighmarish like, please leave the jazzy lady at home. just continue with the nightmare assault.
I want a 320kbps MP3 of this set! :D This stuff kicks the crap out of the DnB that comes out these days! Ohh and your lucky you have such cool relatives. Is he mixing from the Formation Box set? I bought it on CD but I wish I got the vinyls :/ Ohh well.

bullshit elveto...jungles insanely hard to mix, the drum programming was very very rarely the same on any track..if ever!

part 1.

nah, most jungle had a completely evolving drum line that very very rarely had any rigid format, was usually full of syncopation and randomisations.

part2.

aaaaaand you can cut just as easily with DnB, it sounds stupid though, admittedly
hypercatjohn 4 years ago
once you can beatmix, jungle like this is a joy to chop up and it is pretty easy, but needs some soul and familiarity with the tunes to do well.
Man I'm going to have to set up my decks if I keep listening to old school stuff on youtube

Can anyone name the break used in the song at 5:00 ?
I mean the break with the "barking" oder "laughing" voice.
I heard it in so much songs (e.g. squarepusher - come on my selector), what is the source for this sample?
I need it to feed my machinedrum UW with it ^^
Kashati 4 years ago
that break is from Lynn Collins - Think About It. Exactly at 1:35 in the song.
