  • I spent all of 10 seconds on this but here's what I got...It's just F Bb F C. For you music nerds out there it's just a standard I IV I V progression. I tried to put the chords over the lyrics buy youtube is being a little bitch about it and won't let me post it.

  • im french and i love this movie, that was the time, french against english and later german against french, but i like all three countries :)

  • Chords ?

  • :)

  • I know every word

  • better than any shit made today

  • Comment removed

  • does someone has the tabs, PLEASSSSE?!?!?!?!?!

  • @JasonLover89 yeah

  • @waterpolonewtrier Aw damn really no one has them F*CK

  • @JasonLover89 Jesus, it's such an easy chord progression. Listen to the base notes and play the according chords... on the 4 chord however, there's a fifth upon the fifth. Other than that, you're safe.

If still in doubt, reply to my post, and I'll get back to you when I have the time.

  • @conexant51 It's embarrassing, but I have no musical knowledge whatsoever. Help me out?

  • Can you upload that women song they sing at the fireplace?

  • is there a longer version??

  • I sing this when im drunk! :-D

  • So...catchy!

  • Awesome! Great job, guys! To hear another excellent rendition here on youtube, log in to "The Brigands--row me bully boys." They also have added alot of new lyrics to this song!

  • It's BID Farewell to France...

  • Whoops. I thought the words were "roll" and "friends." I think I like my version better.

  • @stitch99 you kinding? crusaders crossing the channel after being away from britania for 10 years? and your misinterpretation is better? com'on

  • @jponsillo

I didn't know the context. Lighten up.

What I should've said is that I preferred when I thought it was about friendship and how it transcends even death. I don't have anything against the song as is, but I liked that.

  • What kind of song is this.... I mean is it classical or alternative... i dont get the 'song'.. someone?

  • it is a lonnnnng way to row from france to newfoundland!

  • kinda wishing there were more verses. :P

    LOVE IT.

  • These 6 dislikes must be France People Haha

  • @Deadlyeyeshot French*

  • @Deadlyeyeshot

It's french people. ^^ But your're right anyway. XD

  • @Deadlyeyeshot You mean the French?

  • @Deadlyeyeshot Dislike because it's the same clip repeated over and over, the full song is awesome though.

  • @Deadlyeyeshot its up to 9...the French hatred spreads

  • @201boobtube Who cares 'bout what French think?

  • @JasonLover89 No one haha

  • @Deadlyeyeshot French people*

  • @Deadlyeyeshot....FRENCH PEOPLE...They are french. But I agree nonetheless :-)

  • @Deadlyeyeshot

  • Row me bully boys

    We're in a hurry boys

We've got a long way to go

We'll sing and we'll dance and bid farewell to France

And it's row me bully boys row

We sailed away in the roughest of waters

and it's row me bully boys row

oh now we're returnin' so lock up your daughters

and it's row me bully boys row

  • do ennyone have the hole lyric?

  • `Look up more of Alan's talents in videos on you tube, look up Alan Doyle or Great Big| |Sea and hear some Newfoundland Music.

  • I'v seen the movie 2 times it's better in the movie!

  • Ewan macColl

  • We sailed away on the roughest of water, row me bully boys, row!

And now we're returning, so lock up your daughter, row me bully boys, row!

  • this song is da bomb!!!

  • I looked up the rest of the song, if you listen to the actual movie they have more lyrics in it that are kind of hard to hear. Oh, we sailed away in the roughest of waters, row me bully boys row. Oh now we're a turnin' so lock up your daughters, row me bully boys row. LOL ENJOY

  • @SepmerfiJune

LOL actually its "Oh now we're returning" not what I wrote before xD

  • 4 people suck. this song fucking owns

  • hey guys.... well done...my friends sing this all the time.. hope u watch ours to :) will be up soon

  • Thanks to everyone who has added lyrics, I'm making my own version to sing when i go out, and am now RedSarge13's shorter verses as alternating choruses between hartwell79line's verses. It sounds pretty good. I might record and post it on here. Thanks again guys!!

  • Thumbs up if you've search a long time for this song!

  • Kevin Durand goes from a Tremor Brother in Smokin' Aces then to a big hoss hand in 3:10 to Yuma, then to Gabriel in Legion and now to Little John....with roles like these it does not surprise me that the big guy can sing too!

  • alan doyle actually did write this song for the movie

  • @TheXAwesomenessx he just remixed it. someone else came up with an original version.

  • @azrielofdarkness who? I'm looking for a longer version of the song. With all of the lyrics, preferably.

  • @IrishTactical Ewan MacColl, although I have looked for the original, and it's hard to find. plus this one sounds better.

  • Who wrote this song? was it written for the film or what? Thanks :D

  • @ElsieManufan Robin Hood....... the one that came out latley

  • row me bully boys

    we're in a hurry boys

  • @NaniBendixen Trololololol Who cares? Have anything better to do with your life than to troll youtube? Get a life dude one word wrong and you found the urge to "correct". Get a life cave trolls need not apply.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mafiakid416 its bid farewell to france not give farewell to france

  • wow i guess 1 person was not rowing and got thrown off the ship

  • this is from teh end of an interview...just repeated several times.....though its amazing ZING!

  • I'm writing my own version using lyrics from this and my own. I'm hopefully going to have it recorded in a month or so but I will need someone to do the music once it's been sung

  • BEAST !!! I was hoping someone would do this song ! Love the film and this song most ! BULLY

  • This song is awesome! perfect for a history nerd / theater geek such the likes of me!!

  • I forward the motion to add hartwell's lyrics into the description.

Hell, isn't this how things were done? there were never any real lyrics to any of these tunes, they were passed word of mouth and were ever changing because of it :D

these are the rest of the lyrics if we say they are~ row me bully boys roooow

  • @knightsintodreams

If you can find someone to sing em, then have fun!! Unfortunately I haven't found the time to put anything together yet, still workin on it though.

  • My favorite part of the whole movie, thanks for posting great job

  • What I found for lyrics is We sailed away in the roughest of waters Row me bully boys row now we’re returning so lock up your daughters Row me bully boys row And its row me bully boys we’re in a hurry boys and we’ve got a long way to go. We’ll sing and we’ll dance and bid farewell to France, and its row me bully boys row. Now we feast of pheasant by the flock, row me bully boys row, we sailed away and its over the water row me bully boys row. Repeat chorus

  • I have the entire Crusade's lyrics. Setting off, winning, losing, winning & returning, IMHO, a WONDERFUL opening for the sequel: -flying slowly over Sherwood [misty and steaming in breaking sunlight]

-voices heard singing in the distance, quickly rise to be understood ; a few brief flashbacks showing the battles & journeys

-after a verse or 2, cut to Will, Allan and John (& a few others catching up) walking down a forest path with their poached deer.

-Robin jumps in at the end

    - then....

  • @originalDuckDad

Haha, yeah, all two pages of lyrics. Make a great Bard's song

  • best song ever

  • trip daddy,

this genre of music is called a "sea shanty." i love this style, too. there's a classic shanty called "A Whale Of A Tale", and a great homage to the genre on The Mighty Wind soundtrack called "Fare Away." wish there was a full version of "Row Me Bully Boys."

    best, the sidewinder 3000

  • i wanna know what genre this is!!??!?!??! ive loved this kinda music my whole life but never took the time to look into it after i picked up metal but theis right here just seems to soothe u know sounds so relaxed yet having a blast. so plx if you see this hit me back

  • ahaha i love this song ,

    but in italian it's funnier

  • this is a funny song

  • Thank you very much, I got sick of rewinding the video a million times every time they stopped singing cause I can't stop listening to this

  • Do you have the link for a download?

  • roww my bully boys roww !, and will sing and will dance and bid fairwell to france!! and its roww my bully boy roww!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • French should dislike this, but i think they like it. its cool anyway. ;D

  • Thanks so much for posting this epic song. I would have to say that this song, as well as Barrett's Privateers (another epic song), are my two favorite sea chanteys!

  • @veracastle9 Neither song is a chantey.

  • nice :)

  • anyone know the chords, I would love to play this

  • @Blakter19

    I think they are F A# and C

  • @Blakter19

    (F)row me (A#)bully boys

    (F)we're in a (C)hurry boys

    (F)we've got a (A#)long way to (C)go

    (F)we'll sing and we'll (A#)dance

    And bid (F)farewell to (C)France

    and (F)row me (C)bully boys (F)row.

I think that is it (good enough to fake it anyway)

  • Never fear - - I know Hartwell79. I'm twisting his arm (no small feat, that) to make him gather a chorus and such to record all 8 choruses!

  • Excellent!!! Having seen all of your verses written out in order, It is VERY much what warriors would have made up in the 14th century. (I know, I was there).

You've GOT to get together a handful of guys who can sing harmony and record it!

I'll do the baritone/bass if you don't find anyone else...

  • have another verse, it'd be the last of the song. Let me know what you guys think.

Row no more me bully boys,

ship oars, heave to, me bully boys,

    Dover's white face o'erhead,

    Ne'er more to go warring,

In for'n field to go tarrying,

Ne'er more shall me bully boys row.

  • @hartwell79line

    "...overhead, HO!"

  • @hartwell79line I love the earlier verses youw rote, but I can't fit this one to the melody. Btw, I can play the chords to the song, maybe we should get some more singers and make a version with your lyrics^^

  • @TijnB42 Yeah, this one would have to be to a slower paced rhythm. But thanks for the feedback!

That would be fun to try and get something together. We'll have to see what is doable...

  • Lets row bully boys !!!!

  • Great extrapolation of the lyrics, hartwell79line. May I suggest one small tweak: in the last verse, replace "on our way we will go" with "and ne'er more shall roam". Rhymes a bit better and wraps up the theme of going home for good.

  • @egarvue good call, that does bring a better closure to the song. Thanks!

  • Nice one mate, send that off to the Robin Hood's Merry Men.

  • Row me bully boys

    Steady and surely boys

Don’t ye dare stop or slow

Till at long last we’re home

On our way we will go

So row me bully boys row

    Row me bully boys row

  • @hartwell79line i love this song!!! we don't have any drinking songs nowadays, it's terrible!!

i'm adopting your lyrics as the official second verse :D

question: is it "surely" as in "grrr my surely demeanor makes the children wimper"

or "surely" as in "don't call me Shirley"

  • @knightsintodreams

Have at it! A few good drinking songs can go a long way to a good night. Haha

Further down I wrote some other verses, although it looks like RedSarge found some others that are actually in the movie.

"Surely" as in sure, if that helps

  • @hartwell79line excuse me but where did you get these lyrics and are there any more for this song????

  • @TheRedFox777 I made them up, haha. If you look back in the comments I have a few more verses.

  • @hartwell79line this an actualy song?

  • @lockdown1253 Just a few verses I made up. There are a few more way back in the comments...

  • Row me bully boys

    I am so weary boys

We left home ten years ago

So we’ll fly out our sails

And drink all of the ale

And row me bully boys row

  • Row me bully boys

    No need to worry boys

We’ll be home sooner than no

Then we’ll drink and we’ll feast

Have no care in the least

So let’s row me bully boys row

  • Row me bully boys

    We’re in a hurry boys

We’ve got a long way to go

And we’ll sing and we’ll dance

    And bid farewell to france

And it’s row me bully boys row

  • @hartwell79line Request permission to sing these lyrics

  • @Pyroimp absolutely, let me know how it turns out
