The fees are really bogus. One time a cop pulled me over for "reckless driving". I pleaded not guilty. I was called in to settle the case outside of court. I was shown the police report filed by the cop and he put a bunch of words in my mouth and made it sound like I almost killed little kids. Both sides agreed that reckless driving was not the case so I was only charged with "following too closely". However, I still had to pay a $350 fine because the difference between the two was too great.
