  • fuck yo couch

  • @VanillaBigBootyluvr older brother

  • @VanillaBigBootyluvr I had to give the thumbs down...Eddie is the little brother

  • What's the name of the dance @1:46-7? The dude w the gold chain.

  • WAAAAAAY Underrated Old Skool joint!!! They don't do it like this anymore! Now all there is is this crap that glorifies the worse parts of the hood that keep Black folks held down... weed, mistreatment of Black women etc.

  • v=FzCP-cb0eqY is better version.

  • @VanillaBigBootyluvr he wrote and produced some songs for k-9 posse

  • @VanillaBigBootyluvr he wrote and produced some songs

  • Bobcat is mad underrated as a DJ/Producer

  • :12 Is that Simms from Lean On Me?

  • Claaaaaaaaaaaasic

  • And Chuck D's brother too. Song was tight even though the lyrics were simplistic. Won't comment on the video budget either. Sign of the times I guess.

  • @VanillaBigBootyluvr actually he is the older brother chairle is 51 eddie is 49 so yeah

  • wowwwww....classic

  • 2:45 ..random white guy with basketbal

  • One of my favorites

  • I HEARD CHARLIE MURPHY WAS IN THIS GROUP, WHERE HE AT??

  • @neoimean7 not Charlie Murphy but his half-brother was in the group

  • @ruffdraft07 Oh ok cause allhiphop said that it was charlie

  • Those were the days! I still remember when they used to show this on Yo! MTV Raps!

  • 1988 this was the year I started rapping. I started out as writing raps, and then in 1992 I started learning how to freestyle. It's great to be diverse. Writing rhymes or freestyling is like being able to fight with your fists or use a gun. It's always good to be able to do both. LOL

  • 2nd Favorite Track off this album. Thanks!!!

  • CHARLIE MURPHY!

  • Can't believe moms gave me a hard time about this music!!!

  • Good TYmzzz in 1988!!! Thanx for POST (Hoo-ah)

  • does anyone remember k-9 posse? eddie murphys young brother verne use 2 be in this rap group.

  • The original to this is a superb Latin salsa record!

  • Awesome, no music like this anymore...I miss hiphop....real hiphop

  • I MISS REAL HIPHOP TOO

  • probably the very first time you hear the term "pass the courvasier"...2:14

  • 1 of the dudes in here was the brother of a famous actor. I believe it was Eddie Murphy

  • You're thinking of Charlie Murphy.

  • YES IT WAS

  • @cjjaxxon actually it's Eddie's younger brother Vernon Jr sourced from Eddie's IMDB page.

  • Ok.

  • YEP

  • The woman who played the teacher was an artist... She did a remake of "For the Love of Money" if memory serves me right. Does anyone remember her name?

  • That teacher was a freak! Did you see her let down her hair like that?!?! LOL I used to have this CD. I used to love that bass line and horns in this track. You could actually bump this in your system and it was sound off the hook!

  • That beat was just so far ahead of what ws going on back then, you could still rock it today. Dope song without a doubt!

  • @nebdirty

Exactly! I loved this song back in 1988---it was so catchy and fun, with an unusual groove--I think this was closing this rapper ever came to a hit, though.

  • Classic old school

  • haha, I even have Bobcat's cassette to this day too! Right on.

  • I heard the original break to this.

    It's a Salsa track!!!!

    Respect to Bobcat.

  • 1988 A cool year. This shit had us jammin like a muthafucker!!

    numtumbot.

  • I've always considered 1988 to be the best year of Hip Hop with so many defining albums out at the time:

Stet, PE, Ice T, BDK, Ultramag etc etc!

Quality tune, still got the 7" record in the loft hehe!

  • K-9 posse this was it!!!!!!!!! Rats

  • USA THANK U FOR THE REAL HIP HOP.

  • Cuz wit tha gold jacket is Eddie Murphys brother

  • wack song

  • The beat was tight. They just couldn't rap worth shit. The darkskinned cat is Eddie and Charlie Murphy's youngest brother. Still didn't help them though.

  • I did some digging...the LIGHTER cat was the Murphy's younger brother...if you look at him you can kinda tell...he's got those "Murphy" features.

  • damn takes me back to Yo MTV Raps and 10th grade

  • BOBCAT RIPPED DAT SHIT!!!!!

  • excellent

  • this is a rare album.

  • K-9 Posse all the way!

  • It was actually the only GOOD track from the album... Proof, we do not remember any of the other traxx, unfortunately.

  • Speak for yourself. I remember 'This Beat is Military', 'Somebody's Brother', 'No Sell Out', 'Turn That Down'. Those are the ones that I rocked the most. Even bought their second tape although it was a disappointment. Only track I liked was 'I Got It'.

  • WOW!!! This Beat Is Military was wack and Yo! MTV Raps played it over and over! "Aint Nothin To It" is the ONLY song I got into off either album.

  • Dang...they had TWO albums?

  • When this dropped, we never played this version. We played the 12 Inch version which was more of a DUB version without ALL the lyrics. This Bobcat Beat was Da sh-t back then.

  • @DJWillieFressh

I liked it because I was in the Marine Corps at the time. I hear this tune and it reminds me of El Toro, Ca.

  • lead rapper is eddie & charlie murphy brother

  • This record sounds so big..'pretty sure Pharrell was inspired by this song to make "Pass The Courvoisier" - I had the single in the cardboard with "No Sell Out" on the B side...man, those were the days

  • cool. that takes me back a few years :~)

  • rootzman ... I am with you 100 percent ...

  • I had this joint on 12" vinyl. wish they wouldn't hog the embed but it's like that. i know some folk that would appreciate this.......................................... "the crowd was buggin' but then i had to cough, ("cough2 cough2 cough2") cause the kid b4 me was soft"

  • reminds me of Saturday night Yo! MTV Raps...classic!

  • where r they from?

  • Remember when they did this on the Arenso Hall Show... Beat that!

  • I saw the original SNL broadcast back in '80 that featured Funky 4 + 1 more...

  • Yep, Rap City 4:30 after school! That was when the MCs had 2 or 3 messages going on...like educating yourself, wearing the Pan-Afrikan medallion, Red/Black/Green. Sad, sad, sad. know we got lollipop, laffy taffy, idiotic, bafoonery nonsense now!

  • Damn, I remember watching this on Rap City.

  • Remember this video. I haven't seen this in a while.

  • when i had this tape, i used to think i was the only person in the country with this tape LOL

i cant believe i can still recall some of the lines.

didnt this have like a DOG on the front!?

  • you guys not belive but i know one of those guys hes name is veron my dad and him are friends

  • Yes I had this in tape when it was new. It did stand up to the other in the place. I really like the first track. Vroooom.

  • This song use to be rollin' at Skate Country in New Orleans back in da day.

  • 80's & 90's clothes were so fuckin cool!

  • 80's & 90's clothes were so fuckin cool!

  • Yeah, nowadays clothes sucks!!!!!!

  • Nah Victor......it was Charlie who was in K9....I got it on wax bro...his name is clearly stamped on the cover.

I only bought this album for Bobcat's DJing...had no idea what it was gonna be. DOPE!

  • Victor is right homie it's Vernon Lynch Jr. if i'm not mistakin' matter of fact if you look at the movie Coming to America Vernon is in the scene where they are standing in line to go to the bathroom and the soda guys recognize Eddie Murphy. Check it out i'm glad i'm not the only one who loves this HIPHOP shit especially the trivia aspect, this garbage they playin' today is empty and typical.HIPHOP 4eva

  • Nah Victor......it was Charlie who was in K9....I got it on wax bro...his name is clearly stamped on the cover.

I only bought this album for Bobcat's DJing...had no idea what it was gonna be. DOPE!

  • look at eddie murphys brotha...bwhahahahahahahahahahahahaaa.....

  • Do anybody have the video for K9 posse's hardcore military.

  • Oh shit!!!! I love this video. I remember seeing this when I was 11 or 12 in 1988/1989!!!

  • Yeah, I used to love this stuff. I gave up on rap years ago, though. It has changed into some ugly mutant.

  • I still rock this instrumental / remix when i spin

  • LOL Eddie Murphy's brother, Vernon LMAO!!!! This was wack as hell, but you know something...I can listen to THIS before I can listen to this bullshit out now anyday LOL

  • what was wack about it?

  • Yeah!! Yeah!! '88 was in the midst of the Golden Era. God I miss these days!! Everytime I see videos from the Golden Era it's both a relief & a powerful reminder of just how far one errant generation of kids have pushed rap music so far from the culture of hip hop & allowed it to become a sad & pitiful caricature of itself..

  • I know what you mean. It seems like most people who are in their late 20s and early to mid thirties came from this golden age era. We were either in middle school or high school when the golden age of hip hop exploded and we experienced it. It's a shame that these kids didn't get the chance to experience real hip hop like this unless their mother, father, aunt, uncle or their older siblings played it around them, but us, we experienced it when it first came out!!!!

  • true dat, practically anyone born in the 70's really know the golden era.

the very last cd i can remember buying was biggie's 2 cd, i never bought p.diddy's cd when that came out after, then never bought another cd since, except 2pacs Strictly 4 my niggaz re-release on cd.

1998-1999 nothing, then came MP3's and wack mc's.

  • @nick7477

So true,so true! I'm old enough to remember radio BEFORE rap even existed, so yeah, I think it's sad that most of these kids under 25 or so don't know that rap can be more than sex, drinking, and bragging about how much money/how bad you are in your hood. The thing I appreciate about old school rap is that there was more diversity in the subject matter--you could rap about staying in school, learning black history, or just plain having fun or being a gangster. I definitely miss that!

  • this is eddie murphys brother!charlie murphy

  • That's not Charlie, that's Vernon

  • I Have this song on vinyl dope song.1988 vs 2007 in hip hop i know what year would win what do you think plese reply to me.

  • You already KNOW my answer!

  • Let me guess my friend 1988 LOL.

  • 2007 is better...

  • How is it all the arists talk about drugs and sex same crap man. Old skool was about being yoursel. Nowdays rappers follow each other lol.

  • if u only search theres something for everybody out there, so hip hop aint dead or something like that, its just bigger and better, that old shit sounded good then, it dont do now, not all of it though, some are still timeless still, peace yeah

  • @callumbrowns 1989 lol. The Best Year ever in Music Period.
