Jbass--I suppose you could do it that way but if you had to add or subtract a little tippet it would be a hassle. I've wrenched on some healthy fish in big water and have never had the loop fail or had the 3x cut the butt section.
Do you think it would be better to do a double Surgeon's Loop on the 3x and slip knot it to the butt section loop? i feel as though the clinch knot would cut through the thicker diameter mono over time, more so than a double surgeons loop. Just wondering what your input is on that... Your way is definitely way faster. Thanks for the vid.
