Yes they are very comfortable - the same seats as the Mallard refurb GNER/NXEC HSTs - The XC HSTs are perhaps a little bit too bright inside but still a lot better than the FGW HSTs.
Funny I remember them fondly when riding on old FGW HST sets but after using only refurb HSTs for a while I tried them again on an ex-MML HST owned by XC and I found them to be uncomfortable due to the seat back positioning and the springs in the seats as well as inconvenient with the lack of a movable armrest. Guess it shows it depends what you're used to.

I like the inside of FGW HST got one from Bodmin to Penzance in cornwall but it onlly went like 70mph! Took 1h10m! Great Vid! :D
