  • it's ironic that his voice is kind of hypnotic.

  • Utter Bullshit by a Dinosaur frame of mind!

  • This video is fascinating. I always took it as read that hypnosis was harmless with regards to doing things agianst your will - although, when you think about it logically, very few people would deliberately bark like a dog in front of a room full of people. I have seen lots of examples of people humiliating themselves under hypnosis.

Also, to those who are getting annoyed by this video; the people in it seem to be therapists - and at no point to they claim to be anti-hypnosis.

  • He has no idea what he's talking about. He makes statements without backing them up with facts.

  • I'm sorry this guy though well intentioned in full of sh!t. YES there is something called "False Memory Sydrome" from a UN-TRAINED Hypnotist asking "Leading Questions" There are like I'm not sure the exact number 100 pro Hypnosis people to let's say every 10 anti-hypnosis people. I'm a Hypnotist see my channel. I GENUINELY care about my subscribers even taking requests to help them. I DO NOT believe in bragging but I could send you letter after letter in which I've made a difference. :)

  • @Eddini Your comment makes no sense. The speaker is simply explaining the truth about hypnosis and how it is falsely represented by so many hypnotists who are either lying or are not well enough trained.

  • Thank-you Ivan for saying what really needs to be said about hypnosis.

I gave a lecture in Sydney Australia about a year ago titled myths, misconceptions and misuse of hypnosis.

I believe the myths have been used to establish hypnosis as a legitimate tool in therapy and as far as I can see are about 40 years old. They started to emerge at about the time hypnosis was legitimized in the US.

But they are also dangerous myths as they have allowed the totally unregulated use of hypnosis.

  • This is very interesting and informative! I learned a lot :)

  • you are so right

when i do myself in good i am not awake at all

i now experience hypnosis threw out the day

most of it made up by my own mind and has little to do with what was said on any mp3 I have used

its like a mix of my own experience and what i wanted to listen too

what past i could have had

not really one i actually have had

a strong imagination is fuel for the fire

  • This is an excellent video posting by the way.

  • thank you Trilby2020!

  • Psychotherapists don't like hypnotist because hypnotism gets the job done fast and the psychotherapy could take month even years. Psychotherapists have been trying for years to have hypnosis banned.

  • Human Givens Psychotherapists use guided imagery and trance states very effectively (another way of saying 'hypnosis') in their therapy sessions. I think what Ivan Tyrrell is trying to say here is that hypnosis can be very powerful, so you must be careful when you are using it.

  • That's not the case here in Canada where the Psychs tried to have hypnosis only practiced by licenced psychotherapists. To say that hypnosis is dangerous is a lie and for anyone to say that's is misleading.

  • Hi dewzs - You may be right about the situation in Canada. There isn't any regulation about that in the UK either. However I have to contradict you and say that of course hypnosis can be dangerous! Having someone in front of you in such a suggestible state places the hypnotist in a position of power that can be easily abused, either knowingly or naively. Hypnosis is a practice commonly used in cults as a brainwashing technique.

  • Cults use other forms of control not hypnosis because hypnosis will only work when the person is willing, but in brainwashing the person gives the control over to the leader unwillingly because they are hungry, tired, and ready to give up. And when this happen they must trust the leader and accept the lies.

  • You're comment has been made by a lack of/or limited knowledge and first hand experience on the subject of hypnosis, most people have their inner scientist take over and have to "See to Believe".

  • It is not banned or officially regulated in state I live in, but I know in Kansas they have a law against stage hypnosis ,i read. It will most likely never be banned. Some people are "Sealed" at a very young age in schools, or should be anyhow, I was.
