Though the movie is bad. Jeff Bridges is pretty damn good as the killer. He's creepy and weird, which goes a long way in the more boring moments of the movie.

One of the many reasons this movie sucked was that it played like a comedy. Jeff Bridges, ecpsecially (maybe because I just imagined him as The Dude?) when he's trying to abduct people and he fails at it, I just expected the "wa wa wa" music to play

I liked the original movie but I think a better ending would have been that after he drinks the potion he wakes up in a room with a TV and a VHS player (he sees a note that says: "PRESS PLAY") and then he watches his girlfriend being tortured to death. Then the psycho says at the end of the tape, "Satisfied? You may now leave. The key to the door is under the VHS player. (sarcasticaly) Have a very good day." That would have been awesome!

I thought it was an OK movie too, although i had not seen or heard of the original. I also think kung fu panda rocked the shit. do you have the right to belittle my humble OPINION? No. you will respect it as i will respect yours.

Actually melas, he makes a valid point. If you knew anything about what this movie represents, you'd realize how those two guys up there were right and how wrong you were. The Vanishing American remake represents everything that's terrible with American audiences and its movies. We NEED that happy ending with cookie cutter perfection so we can sleep like babies at night. We simply CANNOT have an ending that will resonate in our virgin brains for weeks on end. It's seriously insulting.

it was, it's ok for most of the film but the ending is so stupid it ruins the entire film. they should not have changed the ending of the original.

@SeanConnery9000 , people say that it's disappointing because the ending was extended to make it change to a happy movie. See it so you won't have to read subtitles on the original, but see the original eventually.
