  • Venice beach here i come in June:)

  • This song always makes me want to pack up the jeep and drive back to the coast...

  • Bethany Joy Galeotti's version of this songs is quite beautiful as well.

  • amen bro!

  • I miss the Carribean but don't miss the Jamaican drug dealers

  • These guys were a town over from me late last year. So far, they have no shows scheduled near here. I kick myself EVERY time I hear a song for not going to the show. Love this band!

  • thanks for the upload

  • I had all there albums! listened to them ALOTTT in h.s.

  • @dennisjr77 Same here grat 90s song! top 10 90s song for my hands down!

  • Beauty requires effort.

  • I was in HS when this dropped, great song!

I think what I find most striking about this video after all these years is just how average these guys look. Its just 4 people making music. Everything back then was kinda sorta like that. From rock to rap music, the people were just more...normal? Relatable maybe? I dunno.

  • @phuturephunk Nowadays, it seems like audiences don't WANT to see normal people performing music - they want the over-the-top, decadent, rockstar fantasy persona shaking their crotch at the camera.

  • This blur really toads the wet sprocket.

  • Trying to decide if I wanna go see them in 2 weeks, anybody seen them live......any good?

  • @javchucker47 just go! seize the moment - it'll be awesome.

  • @javchucker47 No brainer. Go see them. Then go see them again. Seriously. They have always been good live, but I've seen them twice in the last year and they are better than ever.

  • @PumpkinTuna - I almost go to see them at RedRocks, in CO, Usa..oh, well. would have been fun i think.

  • Great song

  • Change the speed on the video from Normal to 2x Speed.

  • Tempo bom...

  • Good thing to find this on youtube. Nice memories.

  • By popular demand.....Toad The Wet Sproket! Walk On The Ocean!

  • Kinda missed the beginning of the song didn't you??

  • u guys ill give you the secret to 5,000 views just subscribe and send me a message

  • My freshman year theme song!!

  • I know what you mean.Beautiful lyrics.

  • I love this band. This song reminds me of seventh grade back in '93. What has happened to music? Wish I could bring back the 80s and EARLY 90s (the majority of that decade is mediocre) At least I can reminisce on you tube :)

  • What the heck is wrong with the beginning?

  • Glen Phillips rocking the alt-mullet

  • OMG damn !!.. i was 16.. i don't believe it now i'm 30 !!.. Life flies just like Pink Floyd sang "You are young and life is long

And there is time to kill today

And then one day you find that

Ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run

    You missed the starting gun"

  • OCCUPY BIG SUR

  • Sometimes, when he sings, it looks like he's trying to drop off some cigars in the swimming pool.

  • Love the video--the photos hung out to dry are evocative of Belinda Carlisle's "Circle in the Sand" video & Paul Carrack's "Don't Shed a Tear." The latter two were directed by the same person --Peter Care.

  • plese keep it simple the man keeps giving our tax money to other countrys every year oldre pepole that those taxes have to say to them selves should i buy my food or my meds this month young pepole this may happing to you if you are lucky

  • At least 6,982 of these views are mine. This song strikes home with ANYONE who listens to it. Toad was on the those bands that could make you rethink turning the station in the 90's.

  • 90's were great had good music, beer, friends, throwback football jerseys and cheap gas prices couldnt have been any simpler

  • for someone being borin in 1993 I can remember a lot, hearing this song on the radio going to school and other 90s song brings me back to a much more simpler time.

  • @russianspy52 It's hysterical, as someone who grew up in the 70's and 80's, seeing people from the 90's talking about it as a "simpler time." Everybody thinks things were simpler in the decade they grew up. People from the 40's complain about the 60's until now and say, "Things were much simpler in my day." Now people look at the 90's compared to now and say, "It was such a simpler time." LOL!

  • @GBev2K and kids that are still growing up in the 2000's+ will say its a shit time. i hear kids complaining all the time. the 80's and 90's were VERY simple times. cheap gas, great friends, amazing automotive feats, good beer, good tv, jobs were being created everywhere......then you go to the 2000's: joblessness at an all time high, 14tril in debt, iraq war, terriorism, factories being destroyed, shitty music.....yea, anyone in the 80's+ had it good.

  • @Lrules364 No they won't. We all complained in the 70's and 80's all the time about how shitty things were and if we could just grow up things would get better. Now we all look back with rose colored glasses at how wonderful we all thought things were compared to these "complicated times." These kids today will look back in 20 years and say the same thing. "Things were better when I was younger." The problem is adulthood; Having responsibility is tough and most people are too soft to handle it.

  • @GBev2K thats not the real problem here. the problem is the kids growing up today will not have a future. they will be out all alone after spending their childhoods in this shitty state America is in right now. and i can guarantee that they will not want to go back. why? they will have it better as adults then they ever had it as kids. the 90's were the last decade we can all really reflect on. after that, everything became shit, and still is. its sad really.....

  • @Lrules364 You're actually proving my original point; You say the 90's were the last great decade. I thought the 90's sucked are when it all started to go bad, my Dad thought it all began crashing in the 70's and 80's, my grandparents thought it was during the 50's and 60's and so on. I guarantee you the kids from today will do the same thing. They don't think their music and culture is as twisted as we do.

  • @GBev2K

I agree with you, but music does something unique inside each person in whatever era. On a different note artists have every right to play and say what they feel but artists should remember; the words that come out of their mouth with the help of good music will influence listeners accordingly. Words and music together are powerful. The question is how does the music we listen to influence us?

  • @Lrules364 I totally agree with you, the song "I saw the signs" was literally the apex of music, everything just started going down from there......sarcasm intended

  • @rr0ber4 lol!!!! oh man that song popped in my head and i just started singing. good one man.

  • lol a 12 year old like me is watching something soooo old..... haha~!

  • such a great song..

  • OMG what brilliance this group has. Thank you for jogging my memory "TOAD THE WET sprocket" :-) hard workers and what passion in this song,

  • black american male...love this song.

  • @Sirkinney Black Girl. . . Love this song haha :D

  • it really ends at 2:42 but corporate whore radio execs wanted it longer for radio sales.

  • I always get these guys confused with Krokus

  • @bigdsears how in good gods name HOW?!!!

  • @bigdsears LOL!!! funny guy

  • glen reminds me of courtney from "your highness"

  • First time I heard this was over in Mogodishus Somalia. Off of some Armed Forces Radio broadcast.

  • I remember taping this off the radio on my cassette player and rewinding it, stopping periodically to see if I had come to the beginning of the song yet. Kids born these days will probably never get the pleasure of the anticipation of finding the start of the song (smh)

  • Apple copied the Ipad design from this video 1:47. Toad The Wet Sprocket may sue Apple now....

  • Apple copied the Ipad design from this video 0:12. Toad The Wet Sprocket may sue Apple now....

  • As a Cal Poly alumni, this is a band we can always be proud of!

  • Loved it when I was 8, still makes me close me eyes and Feel.

  • To my friend Ian. I hope you are doing well.

  • This song came out the year i was born, of course i didnt know it then lmao but when i heard it for the first time i loved it! :)

  • When I hear this song I remember when Baywatch was on. Nice!!!

  • This is a bitch band if I ever saw one.

  • aah the beautiful 90's im glad i spent most of it...with good music good sex and good drugs...i dont miss it since i lived it fully

  • @TheSkirmishes bit young for that, weren't you...

  • @conor845 no john it was the right age i had recently discovered hormones and was drowning in them

  • @TheSkirmishes jeez man, i hope after starting at such a young age you're not completely drug drenched and addicted o.O

  • @conor845 just have minor pussy addiction

  • @TheSkirmishes - Same here... They don't call it "Generation X" for nothin'!! :O)

  • @TheSkirmishes hahaha xD

  • @RedDustRoad nice band name! hook me up!

  • I always give this song socks when I sing along to it in my car!

  • Toad the Wet Sprocket

  • A band of outcasts singing for their fellows. After 20 years, it still sounds fresh.

  • I miss the 90s

  • I love this song and can listen to it over and over. band is from where i live, and captures a lot of feelings about the area, and the people here as well. there were some great times in music. and yes i like the early nineties, music was busting out.

  • I just discovered this song today and absolutely love it!

  • Music was not better when someone else grew up, ever! There's always some great contributors. From Stones to Doors, Zepplin to Boston to the Cure to Talking Heads to STP and Nirvana to Beck, Offspring and Greenday, to Coldplay and Black Keys, much more.... plenty of good music being made. And going backwards to Sinatra, Oscar Peterson, Billie Holiday, Appalaicha, New Orleans styles...Neo Classical, Classical, and the World Music.. Peoples minds may close, but music lives on.

  • @starbabi7 Green day? seriously? you must be joking lol

  • @starbabi7 sorry but the early 90s was a musical nirvana

  • @starbabi7 Coldplay is one of the only really good mainstream bands around though..I'm sure there are a lot of really good aspiring bands and artists out there, but all the media seems to care about is freaking pop and rap...

  • @starbabi7 Except all that shit blows cock except Zep, Doors, The Cure and Beck

  • @starbabi7 u couldve just saved urself all that time typing and put Robert Johnson...he's the only one that matters anyway.

  • One hit wonder??? Man you wouldn't notice how movies and motion pictures used their multitude of hits in the 90s. This band was never given the recognition they deserve, but you know what- that's exactly the way i want it to be. Only a select few appreciating such a legendary band in my book.

  • @TheRealCaptainCold Thats awesome man. I was kind of the same growing up. I was listening to 60,s and 70's in the 80's. I started playing guitar at 13 and cut my teeth on Eagles and Zepplin. I saw some teenagers the other day sitting at a red light jamming to some Journey. I thought, "they probably have very cool parents". :)

  • Sometimes I wonder, were the 90s that special, or was it special because we were young and care free? Will todays teens and 20 somethings look at todays music the same way when they get older? Hmmmm. Youth is awesome, and over in the blink of an eye.

  • @6stringbender205 I wonder the same thing. I remember older people making fun or telling me that the music today, the 90's, lacks soul. They said the music they grew up with was so much better. I find myself thinking the same and feeling the same way. I don't find teens and tell them though.

  • @6stringbender205 I'm 18 now and all I can say is that i feel no connection whatsoever to todays music scene. I almost only listen to 90's music, and know that many people my age does. Justin Bieber and all that is all blown up in the media but there really aren't a lot of folks who like that stuff. That's the state of my country anyway :)

  • @6stringbender205 best coment eeveeeer!!!!

  • I heard this song at Lowes a few days ago believe it or not. Great one hit wonder. Other great one hit wonders from that time. Ship of Fools (World Party), Three Strange Days, Inside Out (Eve Six), How soon is now (The Smiths)

  • @tiztube100 One hit wonder? Are you kidding me? Have you not heard "All I Want" or "Something's Always Wrong"?

  • @silentyp3 Or "Fall Down" or "Good Intentions".

  • @tiztube100 Eve 6 and Toad the Wet Sprocket are certainly not one-hit wonders.

  • I cannot stop listening to this song. I play it in the guitar, sing for myself in the office...so special. Glad they are still around, but it's a pity they're so far from Buenos Aires...

  • I still got a shirt like the singer, but with green and red, instead..

  • They are playing in South Carolina next weekend

  • @Wesleyjc1 Hanging from the clotheslines. They look like iPads.

  • They just played the big outdoor Red Rocks venue outside Denver, CO..I was in town but missed it! :(

  • Too bad this video is truncated at the beginning. Wish an official one would get put up someday.

  • Heard they're doing a tour and a new album. Gonna be in Kalamazoo, Mi July 30 2011 at Bell's brewery.

  • why does this song remind me of Europe? Ireland or Scotland to be specific.

I love this song. So nostalgic.

  • @Kaimicah77 Must be the flute

  • my friend is in the band :D

  • esto es lo mejo me gusta toad the weet sproket

  • Poor drummer getting left out of all the walk on the beach shots

  • @psychopomp88 ..lol its a good one

  • Shame on me for not catching the wave called Toad the Wet Sprocket when they first arrived on the scene, I was coming down from my metal kick and seeking out harder alternative. They must've been ahead of their time. Really like their greatest hits album.

  • @saint4God

Yes, they were unlike anything on the radio at the time. 1989-91 had become virtually nothing but grunge and boy bands in response to the 80's music. All I Want was the first song at the time that was just a song, not hard, not fake, just guys playing and singing a song. Given their history of self making 2 albums before this, you could see that they were not just doing what they were they and everyone else were told to do.

  • @kdigiorgio you should have listen to country it was authentic then i'm rock fan myself but based on your comments it sounds like what you where looking for

  • yes all original members, sounded so damn good live they played most of my favorite song plus a few new ones and after the show they hung around and i got to shake glen phillips hand (lead singer) and he took a few pics with my bro and i and he signed my poster and i bought their new cd, it was such a good night!! i have so much respect for them, they are good to their fans!

  • So many memories for this song and album. My wife and I used this song for our first dance at our wedding. Thanks for posting.

  • i have been a huge fan of theirs since i was a kid got all their cd's (had to replace the old cassettes lol) great music good lyrics and i get to see them live in concert tonight in northern idaho! gonna be a great show!

  • @trekkie74656 so they are back tog

    ether, all the original members???

  • 90s men are so hot.

  • i'm surprised I've never heard this, or @ least remember this (cant blame me i'm only 20 lol, j/k), anyways I heard it just now on the Music Choice' 90s n I ran 2 the computer so i could favorite it to my account,...n next ITS ON 2 MY iPod

  • Are those iPads in the video? WTF! they had iPads back in 91'

  • I will be seeing them in bend OR this comming friday,

Really looking forward to seeing them.

  • The best TTWS song IMO.Has the most soul.

  • Toad is playing at the Snoqualmie Casino just outside of Seattle, WA on July 9th... I'm soooooo there!!

  • @misfitwitch - Seattle still gets the good acts, i guess???

  • @TwoPointsUp - Indeed!! Playing more Casinos than clubs, but I don't care WHERE they play, just THAT THEY Play :)

  • @misfitwitch - Give Me That Ticket or I'll dispose of You! :o) My town don't get jack shit, if u know what if mean :(

  • @TwoPointsUp - No no!!... No can do!! My ticket!!..lol You can't dispose of me... I dare you to try!!... Blessed Be!.... Sorry to hear that... where are you that you don't get any good shows??

  • @misfitwitch - as the more cynical around here say : "Arkansas by the sea.."

  • i saw toad last summer on 4th of july weekend in bfe missouri. glen phillips voice is an instrument and sounds exactly the same.

  • just close your eyes .....and it is

  • I wish it was 1992 all over again.

  • Takes me back to a time when I was young and carefree. Wish I could go back. Does anyone know the way?

  • @jeffbobber Came to USA from India in 1982 at the age of 27, worked, worked, worked, got married, divorced with two kids, became a multimillionaire and broke again with child support which is fine but got a judgement for alimony for 20 years. 10 more years to go on this one. Do go to Costa Rica often. On the edge to the point where you say " hell with the system, God bless America. Started a humpback whale and dolphin tour business in the south pacific. You can see me on face book.

    Daljit

  • @jeffbobber - Yeah, but it might involve black magic... so i wouldn't advise it ;o)

  • The more I hear songs like this, the more I believe the late 20th century was a golden age for music. The shit they call 'music' nowadays with all that shitty pop music, rap crap, and talentless artists invading the media with their garbage... I have almost no hope for the future of music anymore.

We gotta keep the good music alive!

  • its ageless, the kind of song that never never fade out

  • Dude--I agree...20 years already???? I still LOVE this song and this band.

Malea McGuinness opened for them last year---now I bet THAT was awesome!

Check her out, she writes some great songs!

  • 1991? Really? Has it really been that long? How depressing-where did all those years go?

  • @zuderzam Tell me about it.

  • excellent tune/ composed by an excellent band I miss them

  • Does anyone know where this video was filmed? Atlantic Canada maybe? The Maritimes perhaps?

  • R.I.P guitar :D

  • Such a good song!

  • Sounds like a fretless bass to me, nice..

  • How'd they get access to iPads back in 1991?

  • It was great!

  • Yes time flies.... And yes, I'm in my 30's. :D

  • @07yensid Wow! I wonder how it felt to be that old in the 90s

  • @07yensid

Yes time flies I'm in my 40's

  • I love this vid, I love the song, I love this band period. xD!

    I have to say I miss the 90s. . .

  • Brings me back to 8th grade. :D

  • @07yensid Oh and ur in ur 30s now, wow time flies doesnt it? I wasnt even born yet xD!
