One more suggestion. It's hard to do this for all of us but you gotta do it... CHOOSE A SPECIES! I have several unique species in my tank but you never see anything but 2. There's a school of zebra danios and 2 gold angelfish (identical). It looks so much more natural. When the lights go out, the eels come out XD -- I JUST got a Purple Spaghetti Eel added to my tank and my bichir bit it :(
I'm also going to get a Toad Fish and black ghost knife then I'll be stocked up!
Dude a background is good for people who DON'T have a water garden. You have live plants in your tank. Don't ruin it! keep it all natural. I'm from California. Look at my tanks. imagine how stupid they would look w/ a background... Yours can look like that too! Just add a few plants and some CO2 if possible and don't vacuum ur gravel when doing water changes. Your plants will rip. Swords are hard to grow from runners for me :(
