Mac has a great near-perfect balance to them. I'm not a tech and wouldn't know where to look to find the right equipment to "pimp-out" a PC, more so I have no idea why I would need it. The Mac has some of the best software out there, and as for basics like Word, I just download Microsoft office. My Macbook is 7+ years old and doesn't even have Intel and can still keep up with both. I choose Mac just because it's clean, simple, durable, and always creative. Theres a cult on both, just avoid them.
@RecklessTheory "I choose Mac just because it's clean, simple, durable, and always creative." In case you haven't heard, PC's are clean, simple, durable, and always......... creative (as if creativity had anything to do with a computer). But again, it proves how much of a good salesman and brainwasher Steve Jobs was, cause he is the one who came up that creativity nonsense and applied it to his products.
my hate is not pc's . my hate is with microsoft. i had a microsoft tech spend days backdoored in my pc to fix the os and it still died . mind you i had a 150 firewall setup which knocked the tech out unless i turned it off. All that said i have used a mac now for a while and no bsod or os death problems. Good review though. My suggestion take that mac back. have it looked at something is not right .
They're consumer electronics sold by a single company, a profiting company, that they're pricing isn't solely based on hardware shouldn't surprise anyone, they're as much ingenious engineering as they are solid computing machines. Fitting certain hardware into a form factor such as the mac isn't an easy task (see: not cheap to do), the $1000 for a portable machines is spent on what has become the standard in notebook engineering and design, if future trends in PC design are any indication.
Macs do have eight-core configurations, although in the anonymous mac pro, that said, it's a matter of personal taste, macs OS X, native only to the mac, is more animated than it's windows equivalent, gestures on the mac are more fluid, designs wise I don't think anyone will dispute that they're exceptional. Specs, I'll admit there are machines that may have better specs here and there, but as a total package apples lineup is as close to neutral as can be, enough in every machine for ever taste
Rendring take days. You can Get a pc With up to a 8core prosessor. These shitty macs dont have more than quadcore. And they are nearly The same Price. Just because u bought a Mac and wasted exstremly much mony dosent mean that you have to ignore The facts! Pc ist just simply better...
Macs are built today for web developers, software developers, graphic designers, video editors, sound editors. Most major companies do use mac but they're also using high end Mac Pros, by the image you just have the alumi macbook, not the macbook pro. with my i7 quad-core Macbook pro I can do just about anything I need, it's quick and snappy. It could have also been the OS version you were running as well.. The original leopard/snow was kinda slow but updates fixed and 10.7 is pretty fast.
One of many reasons why Windows sucks: the multi-touch support for it is terrible and choppy compared to that of Mac OS. Try to have a multi-touch touchpad on a Windows laptop and it can't even compare to the experience you get out of the glass trackpad on a Macbook. There you go, a reason why Windows computers suck. Can your 'PC' beat up my Mac in that aspect?
lots of incendiary comments...using a desktop, desktop components cost per performance has always been less expensive than laptop equivalents, a fair assessment would be to compare PC laptops to apple. Laptop components are not shelf products, hence genius/geek squad/etc, and having them outsourced for repairs, data loss disclaimers are common. apple monitors are expensive due to their resolution, peripherals and design. Apple store does repairs on the spot, as long as the hardware is in stock.
And yet PC-based laptops continue to outperform the Macbook Pro line by a threefold margin while costing $700 less. To match the performance potential of an ASUS G73 laptop at $1899, one would need a customized Macbook Pro costing $3049. To match a $1500 rendering station with an i7-950, 12GB RAM, a 2TB drive, a 64GB SSD, twin ML238 24" LED monitors, a Gene III motherboard with X-fi, one would need a customized $4000 iMac.
@MaestroDraven The g73 tips the scales at 17lbs, has limited battery life, however, it's a performance powerhouse, and to that end does what its intended to do well, gaming. Its spiritual competitor would be the 15" MBP. What it secedes in performance, at 7lbs, 9 hours of battery, svelte, it gains in mobility. The MB sacrifices being a niche product to cater to larger demographics, and does so well, granted its on top of every major publication's top ten list of great portables with reason.
@jbernard1234 So what am I saying? In order to assert which is better or worse, we'd have to first understand what their intended purposes are, and how well they go about achieving this, platform for platform, does the Asus achieve it's take-no-prisoners gaming objective better than the Mac's jack-of-all-trades perspective? Well, it depends on who you are. To a gamer (as I'm assuming you are), its a no brainer, to the average consumer, its a matter of which platform is more flexible.
As I mentioned up above, look no further than the ASUS U-series laptops. better hardware configs, lower prices, excellent build quality, same weight, super-thin, with 10 hour battery lives aas opposed to Apple's 7.
Beats the Macbook line in Every. Single. Department.
@MaestroDraven Shucks, ya got me, I throw in the proverbial towel. Apple's premium is ingenuity. They've done this plenty times, touchscreen interactions with a phone, click wheel on an mp3 player. They stress blending the divide between hardware and end user. Neglecting aesthetics, the gem of a macbook is that 4 x 3 inch rectangle below the keys. The Asus, it's really good, really good, but with the Apple, the total package creates an almost transparent experience between you and it.
@MaestroDraven This is by no means the fault of the Asus, spec for spec it may beat the Mac, I do secede that, but, due to its use of an OS that is designed for multiple platforms, and its (relative) limitations in terms of user interface, it loses ground with respect to the "intimacy" for a lack of better terms, between user and machine. Specs are but a small tale, the impression is in the use of the machine, that's why the Mac garners so much praise. Whichever is better is up to your tastes.
@MaestroDraven I thought I should mention, its ironic you mention the Asus U, my sister has a U46, its great, but I always jump back to my 3 year old Macbook, her machine specs wise is superior, but I can't perceive it, maybe you can, my senses just aren't that acrid. But...what I can perceive is that while I browse the web, I swipe as though I'm reading a book, as opposed to hitting delete...say what you will, it makes all the difference. Just go try one, it really isn't that bad.
@MaestroDraven Sounds like spin doctoring to me. Macbook pro is one laptop line by one manufacturer, Name one manufacturer that has one line that out sells it. Does the ASUS G73 laptop out sell it? Is it Quad core? it says its 64bit but is it truly 64 bit? I'm glad you mentioned this machine because its a nice powerful device i'd like to own however it's proof that a Xbox/PS3 doesn't have to be big and clunky as they are, the same goes for most PC towers and laptops.
Then look no further than the ASUS U-series laptops, all certified Macbook Pro destroyers with much better hardware, lower prices, excellent build quality, a better warranty than Apple can muster, and 10 hour battery lives as opposed to Apple's 7. Sure, laptops don't need to be big and clunky, but when we're talking pure horsepower, it says a lot.
I like both, I have a pc desktop, I hackintoshed it, has windows and mac in one computer, I have a mac laptop, cause it is portable, I bootcamped it, it has mac and windows on it, I just like both. I honestly hate all of the controversy that people make about the two. I JUST LIKE BOTH!!!!!!
@footychatcouk Pc can run all versions of windows and linux . Mac couldn't run windows until after they switched to intel from power pc processors. Mac had to be more "pc" in order to work. Explain that.
@luckyglasspig Simple, Intel were making the best laptop processors and mac jumped ship from motorola because they couldn't provide a suitable solution for the next gen G4 macbook pro. That doesn't make the machines more "pc" - thats like me saying pc's are using a mouse to point and click- that makes them more mac. I don't see how a machine that can't run all operating systems can be out done by one that does.
@footychatcouk Are you smoking crack? Every hear of a hackintosh? I can buy or build a pc right now that will run linux, windows AND MAC OSX. You're either ill informed, an apple fanboy or both.
@luckyglasspig You can build a pc, impressive until you look inside the dam thing. Have you looked inside of a mac? Don't get me started on the insides of a PC laptop compared to a Unibody Macbook Pro. I use Mac and Windows your a idiot if you think the best solution for me is to use a windows machine with a illegal hack on it to run lion or stupid to think windows doesn't run any better than on a PC.
Even on non-Hackintosh configs, all OS's can be run on a PC. As for outdoing them, that's easy. It all boils down to hardware configs. Apple price gouges for 2-year old guts. Meanwhile, PCs have left the Mac lineup in the dust by continually leapfrogging itself over and over again. Apple's insistence on using cheap, third-rate Hynix RAM and mobile-based video cards is absolute proof of their desire to cash in on their naive fan base.
@MaestroDraven Are you kidding me or what? PCs have left the Mac line up for dust? What? Ok try pricing out what you could sell your second hand PC for on Ebay price how much the equivalent Mac devalues in comparison. Only now enough PC Brands have ripped off the Macbook air so they can be marketed as Ultrabooks. Anyone who know about graphics knows a AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB is kick ass, What are you going to get in a pc laptop? some Intel® HD Graphics 3000 or low end Nvidia?
@footychatcouk Okay , now the rabbid fanboy is coming out. Resell value as an estimate of performance? Are you kidding me? Mac hold their value because of marketing hype. Period. And there are plenty of light weight laptops and tablets out there that can run circles around their mac counterpart. Btw, apple was using nvidea graphics 2yrs ago before the big recall. Apple is an INFERIOR pc, with a flashy OS. The end.
@luckyglasspig OK, If Macs hold there value because of "Market Hype", whats stopping PCs doing the same? OSX is a better performer than Windows, fact, it's unix based (solid). As for there being plenty of laptops and tablets that can out perform the mac well i can show you 20 models which are inferior for everyone you claim is better. Windows is a spam operating system. As for there being better tablets that the ipad-? Really, did that save the Zune against the ipod?
@footychatcouk Marketing hype, period. I can configure any laptop to have the specs of a mac and save money. But, why are we sticking to laptops? Where apple fails miserably is the desktop market. The mac mini and Imac are the most over priced desktops in the market. As for OSX being solid, you're right. It was a solid OS long before Steve Jobs stole it. OpenBsd, that is the operating system Jobs TOOK , and put a GUI on it. Then he sold it to you and you drank the Kool Aid.
@MaestroDraven To assert that one machine is better than the other simply due to a specs is conjecture in and of itself, as it blindly asserts that that is the criterion in which these machines are assessed, and if that may be true, then the Asus laptop you mention would dethrone the Mac in every major publication, which it hasn't. To assert your criterion is the only criterion is debases your entire argument as conjecture, but this isn't ethics, its youtube, what did you honestly expect?
keep in mind that lots of publications are prone to sticking with mainstream products, and rarely venture outside of the traditional norm. Most big magazines and online sites prefer to pit Macbooks against HP laptops, for instance. Neither of them can compare with what ASUS, MSI, Clevo, or even Alienware is offering, yet they get more exposure because they are more widely seen. This is pretty standard with any product. There's no conjecture in my statement, only fact.
@footychatcouk And once again, Rapid Fanboy coming out. First using reselling value to show how something is "better", and now using popularity to show how something is "better". There are plenty of better products than the ipad, specs wise. But they don't have the same "hold my hand because I'm a moron" operating system. So the ipad wins. Doesn't mean its better. Where apple fails and fails hard is the desktop market and there is no way you can justify and imac's price.
Actually , it's not. In high end performance tests, OSX was left choking by Windows 7's superior processing performance. Try rendering a 60 second Trapcode Form comp with 500x500x200 particles and see which machine (equally powered) can do it better. The Mac will lose by quite a stretch.
There's a reason why Apple relies on catchphrases like OpenCL....even though CUDA beat it to the punch years ago, and outperforms it easily.
Unfortunately....Apple is using mobile-based video cards, not true desktop-line cards. Anyone who knows their technology knows that mobile video cards are vastly inferior to their desktop counterparts, which proves that.....after several years, Apple is still skimping where it counts, and overcharging for it. To match (not beat) my $1500 rendering workstation, I would need a $4000 customized iMac.
You might be surprised! I can't tell you how many people have PM'ed me or responded to posts and told me they had no idea about all of this. They've told me that after reading my posts, they're either thinking twice about buying a Mac, or refusing to buy one altogether. All it takes is non-biased, factual information delivered in a professional manner to get people thinking. I don't hate Macs. But Apple makes them out to be something they're not, and price gouges for it.
I never play games and have unlimited money. I want a smooth OS with all the gestures and ease to use provided by Mac OS X. I don't want crashes, warnings, viruses, constant updates etc etc. Don' tell me a PC is better for me.
@DemiAps Macs crash, and they update constantly. And now they are prone to malware and hacking just like a pc. Your arguments are invalid. You can buy your shiny status symbol, I need a computer that can actually do work. Okthanksbye
@DemiAps $3500 Powermac (they call them mac pro's now ) and two ibooks. Powermac ran two dual core 1.8ghz powerpc G5 processors. I also worked apple tech support. Maybe you weren't around when one of the 10.5 updates crashed peoples machines and made them kernel panic or the airport extreme updates that wiped entire networks. LOL.. You're a fucking noob. Probably only got a mac because of your phone. Switch to pc, never going back. You're a typical mac owner, stupid as shit. U=Owned!!!
Get educated. really? invalid arguments.I have a MacBook Pro, I can open all of my apps, that would be 76 of them, and still play COD4 on all the highest settings. Not good for gaming? My ass! I would bet that my MacBook Pro will outperform any $2500 or less PC.
@Nilloc935 Can it outpreform a 2.2 ghz 6 core processor amd phenom, with 2 ati 4890 video cards and a 500 gb fusion hdd and a 128 gb ssd (for gaming) and that cost me about 750 bucks and it can render hd video and can CREATE AN ENGINE THAT IS TWICE AS NICE AS THE COD 4 ENGINE. also CRYSIS MOTHA FUCKAAAAAAAAA
@maxassasin911 I would not be afraid to put it up next to your PC.no way it cost $750. you spent $400 on the GPU's alone. an SSD that size is $200+, plus a processor, motherboard, DVD/CD drive. A case. The HDD is at least $75. Add that all together, your at least at $1200. I don't appreciate liars. My i7 would make your AMD Phenom look like crap. Your 2 GPU's vs my single one would obviously win. and you probably only use your SSD as a boot drive..therefore not giving a big boost in performance.
@Nilloc935 Dude i have more than one pc and my phenom is overall a great processor i also have an i7 rig with a really nice case and thanks for proving my point that mac's are a ripoff. I use my amd mostly but the other one i made has and i7 with 8gb ddr3 and a nvidia geforce 550 gddr5 gpu which cost me 150 btw and i has 2 ssd's 120gb each with a harddrive for storage and a coolermaster case which cost me roughly around 1100 on boxing day (canadian black friday)
@maxassasin911 It will run on a Pentium 4, but not well, and on the lowest settings. You must also remember that I'm running a MacBook Pro. Not a Mac Pro. Not making it entirely fair for me. However, I would still bet I can play 99.9% of the games you can on the highest settings. Every game I have played on MBP, I make sure to turn up all of the settings. However, I don't spend my life playing games.
@Nilloc935 Yea it would because a year ago it has a very nice graphics card which can run almost every game the gt 9400 by nvidia but now in the time of the 550 and 590 the macbook really can't run half the new releases on full setting the only one it can run is mw3 , trust me my friend has a macbook pro that he bought on boxing day(candian black friday) and he uses that for games
@maxassasin911 What model of the MacBook Pro did he buy? If he bought the 13in, He is screwed when it comes to graphics. If you buy the 15in, but not the better model, then he is still screwed. I would say he doesn't have the same specs that I do if he can't run decent games on it on full setttings. I wouldn't be afraid to throw any game on my MBP, and run it at full settings. I have no reason to trust you, since you obviously lied in your first reply to me.
@runesick 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7, clocks up to 3.3Ghz with turboboost. 8Gb 1333 Mhz DDR3, Intel Hd graphics for web surfing, and AMD Radeon HD 6750 with 1Gb of Ram. 15" Display, 500Gb 7200 RPM HDD. MacBook Pro, Early 2011 Model.
@Nilloc935 I've got a gaming pc for $800 - AMD Zambezi 6-core 3.3 GHz (without overclocking), AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB, 8GB 1600 MHz, 17" Dell display(old stuff), 1tb 7200 RPM Harddrive. That's a very nice Mac. However, I believe that my budget pc would work slightly faster than your Mac. I bought my parts, but still haven't assembled it so I can't really say much about my build.
@runesick Thank you for not arguing, and lying. I appreciate that...Also remember that an i7 essentially works as an 8-core. It's all the hyper threading that really gives it a performance boost. Your PC would most likely be at the same level as my MBP, or very close. It's hard to know for sure what computer would win. Also, UNIX based systems are processed more efficiently.
@Nilloc935 Yeah, I heard about the extra performance from that intel pocessor. Honestly there's no point in fighting over the type of computer someone has. In the end, all the hardware/software is outdated within 2 years or so, so it doesn't really matter.
@runesick Yeah. There is no point. And that is so true. Things outdate so quickly in the Tech world. I just find it annoying that since I own a Mac, and defend it, that I get called a fanboy, When really, the Mac hater is really the fanboy(Fanboy of PCs) I have used both systems, and I find Mac OS X to be more reliable. I still use PC's fairly often, just not as often as I used to. I have a personal preference to use a Mac, and people are haters about that. Honestly, I used to be a Mac hater too
@Nilloc935 Dude i have 4 pcs and i can say one thing you got some serious money to blow on macs because the specs on the new one are awesome but that does not change the fact that IT COSTS TOO DAM MUCH IF YOU ARE A BLOODY STUDENT!
@maxassasin911 I'm a student. It is worth every penny I spent on it. I have a Mac, and I'm not going back. I just don't use them. I have 7 PC's, all of them work, some of them better than others. I have one, it's a Samsung laptop, and the wireless card keeps losing connection. I have tried fixing it, using device manager to reinstall drivers, and the only thing that works is a reboot. I have a desktop, it crashes often.
@maxassasin911 (Continued) The other desktop, keeps getting slow, even after wiping the HDD and reinstalling. And that's not because it doesn't have decent specs. My Gateway laptop keeps crashing after about 2 years of use, which I also had other various issues with. My MacBook Pro, I have never had a problem with. My buddy has a Mac from 1987, and it still boots up in 45 seconds, and then still runs faster than my older desktops will. The Samsung laptop is about 8 months old,
@Nilloc935 no offence but my Windows 95 OS desktop still work perfectly, and it boots in 30 seconds, the normal boot time any PC should have, (educational portion of my comment) By default, Windows have made that the boot time is longer, because they wanna brag about their name, you will always see a Microsoft "insert version here" when you boot it up. Second, Linux beats MAC and Windows on bootable time, it also install itself when booting, 3rd, you can mod boot time on Windows, IDK about MAC
@Shamanalaful yeah. Windows 95 is how many years newer? 8-9 years. Thats a big difference in the computer world. I know that boot time on windows is longer, and I have modded it. Im not an idiot. I have spent hours modding PC's. Also, we are not talking about linux here, are we? This is about Mac vs PC. My Mac will still boot up faster than a modded PC will, how do i know? because I have tried it! Linux is also a heck of a lot harder to use when it comes to the everyday user.
@Nilloc935 PC can boot faster... how do I know? becaue I have tried it! and im an informatic student... I didnt spent hours modding my pc, I spent minutes cause I know what to set and what to mod and if you really spent "hours modding my PC"... then were not on the same level (no offence here, but it take me 1 hours to install XP and set up a Windows, and 1 hour and half to install and set up a 2003 server, I do this on daily basis) you can mod the OS of Windows while you cant on MAC..
@Nilloc935 and FYI, this may be a PC vs MAC thing, but a MAC is a PC (Personnal Computer) and so does Linux, its about the Operating System (OS) and Linux is better, its free, its stable and it install itself on your HD when you power it on (and still boot faster than Windows or MAC), it doesnt have virus at all, if it does, you can pinpoint it and destroy it very easily (if you can code at least), you can make your own program, you can simulate a Windows or a MAC on it, possibilities r endless
@Shamanalaful I spent hours modding my PC because I enjoyed doing so. I didn't mod just the boot times. I created custom themes and start button logos. Setting up XP in an hour is no big deal. I can do the same thing. How do I know? Because I have done it! I have copies of every Windows OS out there from XP on, including server versions. Again, we aren't talking about linux. This video is about PC VS MAC, My point with linux, is that it is worthless to your average computer user.
@Shamanalaful Obviously a Mac is a PC, however, everybody uses that terminology. Besides, it saves me characters in my replies. Stop trying to make me stupid, you are obviously failing. You act like installing XP in an hour is such a big deal. Your making yourself look retarded. and Mac is not all caps. Just so you know.
@Nilloc935 oh so its hard to change PC to MS? like it save you anykind of character? and im not talking about installing XP, im talking about optimizing it and tweeking it, installing XP take 30 minutes, 45 tops with a shitty computer,I tweek the machine to optimize it, going into regedit, enabling some feat, disabling other, gpedit if the PC's gonna be on a server, and so on... and FYI, "im still" a MS academic w/e student so I get almost anything from MS free... over 100 free stuff from MS...
@Shamanalaful It isn't for me, but I tend to use common terminology. Start saying MS, and people are gonna be like why in the heck are you talking about menstrual cycles? msconfig is another thing too Tweaking isnt hard, Not for people who have been doing it for years, obviously you, as well as I. Features are easy to enable and disable. No big deal. Your acting like it is. So what if you get a pen from Microsoft? That's probably half of what you get from them. The other half is shitty software
@Nilloc935 I get 7 free, I get XP free, I get most software from MS exept MS Office free... and I havent check yet, but the beta of 8 too I shall get for free, I got VB free, Expression Web free, liscence that cost 60-100$ a piece, yeah I could crack it, but I get it legitly free... and its not because you can tweak a pc that it is automaticly easy, it is hard, most ppl dont even know what regedit or gpedit is... but it is hard stuff to tweak a pc for someone else than yourself...
@Shamanalaful I got a copy of XP for free. I paid $50 for Windows 7. VB is useless to me, as well as EW. And really? I have had a beta of Windows 8 for 2-3 months now! completely free and downloaded from MS's servers. Not that big a deal. Apple Developers get all of the OS X betas, as well as iOS betas for free.An OS X update is $30 for the any user.PCs (MS) charge anywhere from $150-$250 depending on what version of the OS you want, and most people don't get that free software you brag about.
@maxassasin911 and had the wireless issue within the first month. My gateway had issues within the first few months. PC's aren't everything, and neither are Macs. My point is, I find Mac's to be more reliable, so I will continue to use them. They are also a lot easier to maintain, therefore, I don't spend anywhere near the amount of time maintaining computers. Use your PC, I'm not gonna be a hater. I have had my experiences with both OS's, and I have chosen my winner.
Dude... You just got a defective unit. Ive had My Mac Mini since 2006 without even a hint of an issue. And i run all kinds of heavy Duty Audio and visual Software On My Mac. Oh and By the Way. Mac Mini $750. Thats Not a Premium price? Have fun hangin out in Virus World.LOl...Im chillin in 2GB RAM, 500GB HD,User Friendly,Powerful,Cleaner OS, with a .01 Chance of retarded Viruses.
@ThePushBravo thats pretty shitty considering you can get that for $300-400. As for the viruses. Getting viruses usually means you're doing something wrong... GGNT.
my mac is used as a minecraft server and it failed i looked at it and it was using all 2gb of ram (with only 1 person) so i put in 1x8gb ram (90$) in there i only used one so if i had to upgrade agen i would use another 8gb ... so that worked for a bit then people where complaining agen so i looked at it had a few people join in and my cpu was running at 100% on all threads so it still failed
@Instinct869 did you know macs are actually pc's? infact a pc is a personal computer fyi. whatever it runs, linux, mac, windows, it's still a pc. Apple were the ones who said only windows were PC's.
i got a mac now i pre ordered the ihouse begging for ifood and iwater waiting for the creation for iclothes and i desprately need an ijob 3 years earlier i was a millionair WITH A PC pc all the way
That's why you grow a brain, and learn to custom build shit.
For example, perhaps instead of buying a stock pile of horseshit use the same ammount of money to build a nice, 2-4gb beast with a Dual core processor, and a nice deliciously powerful GPU such as the 9600GT?
Also if you run Winblows use a fucking Free antivirus like Avira.
Maybe then you won't get FUCKED. You retarded fuck.
the reason for the mac displays are better than most other is because they use ips displays and most others except for dell and fujitsu use's tn displays which has worse viewing angles than ips displays
Every Mac comes with a one-year limited hardware warranty and complimentary telephone support for the first 90 days after you buy your Mac. So you can call our highly trained advisors with questions on a wide range of topics — moving files to your Mac, connecting to Wi-Fi, using Mac OS X, and more.I'm a system builder, been doing this for 15 years now.
I give my customers support till they stop calling.
And my parts have 2 years coverage And I charge 30 dollars for the work.Parts are free.
@shooterzden that's just how shitty apple is. my psu has 5 years, my rams have lifetime warranty, my gpu 5 years, my hard drive maiboard and cpu 2 years, it costed 900€ on december 2008, still kicks the shit out of 1500€ macs.
@kawaiifreak860 I know how to compute, and I have wanted Linux in the past, but I like the amount of things MAC can do. It's all opinion. BTW I've been thinking of downloading a second OS on my PC, probably Linux since mac will not work with my kinda PC. Windows as 1st OS, when I have tried them all out, I will tell for sure witch I like, it's all about what you are comfortable with. I am not to friendly with MAC or Linux for 1 thing, they do not run games without downloading software.
Are you fucking stupid or something? Seriously, are you really that stupid?
Linux machines are hugely popular with engineers and anyone who works with computers in general (AKA people who have brains, unlike you). Source: being an engineer myself.
I just want to point out that my school used Dells and they were slow as shit. I think ALL computers are likely to be shit in schools quicker than if it was used by one person every so often. Those things are left on all day, used by multiple people, used for multiple things, etc.
Nah' it's because they're running everything over a server, the operating system you see isn't actually on the machine, it's ran over an already bogged up ethernet connection which has dozens of other users accessing it, both to go online and log in to windows.
Why is it that you can go out and buy a PC thats bad but you can go out and buy any Mac and be just fine ? Why is it you have to install all the anti virus software on a PC but Mac's be just fine ? Why is it PC's come from the store to your home with all the unnecessary programs and Mac's don't ? Why is it PC's can run so much better on a Mac than on it self ? Now you want to no why because Mac's are better.
I kinda feel sorry for people who buy a mac tower ......if you badly need kool-aid (sorry ...a mac) get a mac-mini. The older mac laptops are pretty cool too. But I remember when mac was black and white while windows had 256 colour. The worst argument I ever heard in favour of apple was "you get what you pay for" ....to which I said "wait 'till you start paying water bills".
My 24" Widescreen HDMI Capable was on sale at Best Buy (They're overpriced btw) for $200....I love it Along with my Logitech G510 keyboard, Turtle Beach X11 ($60 one right?) headset, Razer Deathadder gaming mouse (Casual, good for normal stuff), and large amount of games that run great. I know the Source engine doesnt have the best graphics but I get over 300 FPS in Gmod.
I'm so tired of hearing all of this bashing...so ill do my best to quell it...both machines are absolutely magnificent. Both sides need to realize that the other couldn't have gotten to where they are without making great computers. Truth is, Macs CAN be a hassle (steve jobs ;]), and PCs CAN get bogged down by malware etc...but in the end it comes down to preference and what a particular user wants to use...if someone is happy with their computer, don't be a **** and bash
What about the 2011 mac mini. Its the same price as my windows 7 laptop. Also it has more ram and gb then my pc.Dont get me wrong i like pc's but i rather have a fast hard working machine then some thing thats only gonna last for 3 years.Im in middle school and a mac will last me till im in collage or possibly longer.
@attackattackkid for most users 2 gigs of ram is more than enough. you don't want that to be the selling point. the hard drive is also something that can be a good sales point but more than you need. i get ya, you want a good machine that will last. my experience has been they all will last if you take care of them mac or pc. the ram can be upgraded as well as the hard drive. my advice is build one. do your research, and buy quality parts.
Hey Kyle. I use two PCs. I have a Gateway and Asus. They are both powerful. My Asus case is small and I built it for $700. I put 6 fans in it to cool it.
no frigining way until apple has gone for good ! they cheated well kinda... they have deals with componet factories so that the receive new componets 6-36 months before they are availble to everyone else :O
i have a hp touchsmart pc and i just bought a mac pro and i think i can agree on most points that you stated, however i do think that the operating system on a mac is superior

RecklessTheory 2 weeks ago
@RecklessTheory "I choose Mac just because it's clean, simple, durable, and always creative." In case you haven't heard, PC's are clean, simple, durable, and always......... creative (as if creativity had anything to do with a computer). But again, it proves how much of a good salesman and brainwasher Steve Jobs was, cause he is the one who came up that creativity nonsense and applied it to his products.

Fitting certain hardware into a form factor such as the mac isn't an easy task (see: not cheap to do), the $1000 for a portable machines is spent on what has become the standard in notebook engineering and design, if future trends in PC design are any indication.
jbernard1234 3 weeks ago

Pc ist just simply better...
sondre2501 4 weeks ago
@Rukiri89 You know that quad core is just simply shit to use if you are using any Kind of media Based programs
sondre2501 4 weeks ago

Can your 'PC' beat up my Mac in that aspect?
miceblue425 1 month ago
weak arguments on both sides of this spectrum, PC and Mac.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
lots of incendiary comments...using a desktop, desktop components cost per performance has always been less expensive than laptop equivalents, a fair assessment would be to compare PC laptops to apple. Laptop components are not shelf products, hence genius/geek squad/etc, and having them outsourced for repairs, data loss disclaimers are common. apple monitors are expensive due to their resolution, peripherals and design. Apple store does repairs on the spot, as long as the hardware is in stock.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@jbernard1234
Either way, the Mac loses.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven The g73 tips the scales at 17lbs, has limited battery life, however, it's a performance powerhouse, and to that end does what its intended to do well, gaming. Its spiritual competitor would be the 15" MBP. What it secedes in performance, at 7lbs, 9 hours of battery, svelte, it gains in mobility. The MB sacrifices being a niche product to cater to larger demographics, and does so well, granted its on top of every major publication's top ten list of great portables with reason.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@jbernard1234 So what am I saying? In order to assert which is better or worse, we'd have to first understand what their intended purposes are, and how well they go about achieving this, platform for platform, does the Asus achieve it's take-no-prisoners gaming objective better than the Mac's jack-of-all-trades perspective? Well, it depends on who you are. To a gamer (as I'm assuming you are), its a no brainer, to the average consumer, its a matter of which platform is more flexible.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@jbernard1234
As I mentioned up above, look no further than the ASUS U-series laptops. better hardware configs, lower prices, excellent build quality, same weight, super-thin, with 10 hour battery lives aas opposed to Apple's 7.
Beats the Macbook line in Every. Single. Department.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Shucks, ya got me, I throw in the proverbial towel. Apple's premium is ingenuity. They've done this plenty times, touchscreen interactions with a phone, click wheel on an mp3 player. They stress blending the divide between hardware and end user. Neglecting aesthetics, the gem of a macbook is that 4 x 3 inch rectangle below the keys. The Asus, it's really good, really good, but with the Apple, the total package creates an almost transparent experience between you and it.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven This is by no means the fault of the Asus, spec for spec it may beat the Mac, I do secede that, but, due to its use of an OS that is designed for multiple platforms, and its (relative) limitations in terms of user interface, it loses ground with respect to the "intimacy" for a lack of better terms, between user and machine. Specs are but a small tale, the impression is in the use of the machine, that's why the Mac garners so much praise. Whichever is better is up to your tastes.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven I thought I should mention, its ironic you mention the Asus U, my sister has a U46, its great, but I always jump back to my 3 year old Macbook, her machine specs wise is superior, but I can't perceive it, maybe you can, my senses just aren't that acrid. But...what I can perceive is that while I browse the web, I swipe as though I'm reading a book, as opposed to hitting delete...say what you will, it makes all the difference. Just go try one, it really isn't that bad.
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Sounds like spin doctoring to me. Macbook pro is one laptop line by one manufacturer, Name one manufacturer that has one line that out sells it. Does the ASUS G73 laptop out sell it? Is it Quad core? it says its 64bit but is it truly 64 bit? I'm glad you mentioned this machine because its a nice powerful device i'd like to own however it's proof that a Xbox/PS3 doesn't have to be big and clunky as they are, the same goes for most PC towers and laptops.
footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk
Then look no further than the ASUS U-series laptops, all certified Macbook Pro destroyers with much better hardware, lower prices, excellent build quality, a better warranty than Apple can muster, and 10 hour battery lives as opposed to Apple's 7. Sure, laptops don't need to be big and clunky, but when we're talking pure horsepower, it says a lot.

footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk Pc can run all versions of windows and linux . Mac couldn't run windows until after they switched to intel from power pc processors. Mac had to be more "pc" in order to work. Explain that.
luckyglasspig 1 month ago
@luckyglasspig Hi5
NGTxFTW 1 month ago
@luckyglasspig Simple, Intel were making the best laptop processors and mac jumped ship from motorola because they couldn't provide a suitable solution for the next gen G4 macbook pro. That doesn't make the machines more "pc" - thats like me saying pc's are using a mouse to point and click- that makes them more mac. I don't see how a machine that can't run all operating systems can be out done by one that does.
footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk Are you smoking crack? Every hear of a hackintosh? I can buy or build a pc right now that will run linux, windows AND MAC OSX. You're either ill informed, an apple fanboy or both.
luckyglasspig 1 month ago
@luckyglasspig You can build a pc, impressive until you look inside the dam thing. Have you looked inside of a mac? Don't get me started on the insides of a PC laptop compared to a Unibody Macbook Pro. I use Mac and Windows your a idiot if you think the best solution for me is to use a windows machine with a illegal hack on it to run lion or stupid to think windows doesn't run any better than on a PC.
footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Are you kidding me or what? PCs have left the Mac line up for dust? What? Ok try pricing out what you could sell your second hand PC for on Ebay price how much the equivalent Mac devalues in comparison. Only now enough PC Brands have ripped off the Macbook air so they can be marketed as Ultrabooks. Anyone who know about graphics knows a AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB is kick ass, What are you going to get in a pc laptop? some Intel® HD Graphics 3000 or low end Nvidia?
footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk Okay , now the rabbid fanboy is coming out. Resell value as an estimate of performance? Are you kidding me? Mac hold their value because of marketing hype. Period. And there are plenty of light weight laptops and tablets out there that can run circles around their mac counterpart. Btw, apple was using nvidea graphics 2yrs ago before the big recall. Apple is an INFERIOR pc, with a flashy OS. The end.
luckyglasspig 1 month ago
@luckyglasspig OK, If Macs hold there value because of "Market Hype", whats stopping PCs doing the same? OSX is a better performer than Windows, fact, it's unix based (solid). As for there being plenty of laptops and tablets that can out perform the mac well i can show you 20 models which are inferior for everyone you claim is better. Windows is a spam operating system. As for there being better tablets that the ipad-? Really, did that save the Zune against the ipod?
footychatcouk 1 month ago
@footychatcouk Marketing hype, period. I can configure any laptop to have the specs of a mac and save money. But, why are we sticking to laptops? Where apple fails miserably is the desktop market. The mac mini and Imac are the most over priced desktops in the market. As for OSX being solid, you're right. It was a solid OS long before Steve Jobs stole it. OpenBsd, that is the operating system Jobs TOOK , and put a GUI on it. Then he sold it to you and you drank the Kool Aid.
luckyglasspig 1 month ago
@luckyglasspig
Well put :) There's very little research among the Mac community, I find. Lots of speculation, conjecture, and 12 year old arguments, however.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven To assert that one machine is better than the other simply due to a specs is conjecture in and of itself, as it blindly asserts that that is the criterion in which these machines are assessed, and if that may be true, then the Asus laptop you mention would dethrone the Mac in every major publication, which it hasn't. To assert your criterion is the only criterion is debases your entire argument as conjecture, but this isn't ethics, its youtube, what did you honestly expect?
jbernard1234 1 month ago
@jbernard1234
keep in mind that lots of publications are prone to sticking with mainstream products, and rarely venture outside of the traditional norm.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@footychatcouk And once again, Rapid Fanboy coming out. First using reselling value to show how something is "better", and now using popularity to show how something is "better". There are plenty of better products than the ipad, specs wise. But they don't have the same "hold my hand because I'm a moron" operating system. So the ipad wins. Doesn't mean its better. Where apple fails and fails hard is the desktop market and there is no way you can justify and imac's price.
luckyglasspig 1 month ago
@footychatcouk
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@footychatcouk
It's lose/lose/lose.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Unfortunately the truth of your statement will be lost on the market spin logic these drones believe in.

All it takes is non-biased, factual information delivered in a professional manner to get people thinking. I don't hate Macs. But Apple makes them out to be something they're not, and price gouges for it.

maxassasin911 1 month ago
@maxassasin911 I would not be afraid to put it up next to your PC.no way it cost $750. you spent $400 on the GPU's alone. an SSD that size is $200+, plus a processor, motherboard, DVD/CD drive. A case. The HDD is at least $75. Add that all together, your at least at $1200. I don't appreciate liars. My i7 would make your AMD Phenom look like crap. Your 2 GPU's vs my single one would obviously win. and you probably only use your SSD as a boot drive..therefore not giving a big boost in performance.

However, I don't spend my life playing games.

@Nilloc935 Yea it would because a year ago it has a very nice graphics card which can run almost every game the gt 9400 by nvidia but now in the time of the 550 and 590 the macbook really can't run half the new releases on full setting the only one it can run is mw3 , trust me my friend has a macbook pro that he bought on boxing day(candian black friday) and he uses that for games

runesick 1 month ago
@runesick Thank you for not arguing, and lying. I appreciate that...Also remember that an i7 essentially works as an 8-core. It's all the hyper threading that really gives it a performance boost. Your PC would most likely be at the same level as my MBP, or very close. It's hard to know for sure what computer would win. Also, UNIX based systems are processed more efficiently.
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@Nilloc935 Yeah, I heard about the extra performance from that intel pocessor. Honestly there's no point in fighting over the type of computer someone has. In the end, all the hardware/software is outdated within 2 years or so, so it doesn't really matter.

My buddy has a Mac from 1987, and it still boots up in 45 seconds, and then still runs faster than my older desktops will. The Samsung laptop is about 8 months old,
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@Nilloc935 no offence but my Windows 95 OS desktop still work perfectly, and it boots in 30 seconds, the normal boot time any PC should have, (educational portion of my comment) By default, Windows have made that the boot time is longer, because they wanna brag about their name, you will always see a Microsoft "insert version here" when you boot it up. Second, Linux beats MAC and Windows on bootable time, it also install itself when booting, 3rd, you can mod boot time on Windows, IDK about MAC
Shamanalaful 1 month ago
@Shamanalaful yeah. Windows 95 is how many years newer? 8-9 years. Thats a big difference in the computer world. I know that boot time on windows is longer, and I have modded it. Im not an idiot. I have spent hours modding PC's. Also, we are not talking about linux here, are we? This is about Mac vs PC. My Mac will still boot up faster than a modded PC will, how do i know? because I have tried it! Linux is also a heck of a lot harder to use when it comes to the everyday user.

Shamanalaful 1 month ago
@Nilloc935 and FYI, this may be a PC vs MAC thing, but a MAC is a PC (Personnal Computer) and so does Linux, its about the Operating System (OS) and Linux is better, its free, its stable and it install itself on your HD when you power it on (and still boot faster than Windows or MAC), it doesnt have virus at all, if it does, you can pinpoint it and destroy it very easily (if you can code at least), you can make your own program, you can simulate a Windows or a MAC on it, possibilities r endless
Shamanalaful 1 month ago
@Shamanalaful I spent hours modding my PC because I enjoyed doing so. I didn't mod just the boot times. I created custom themes and start button logos. Setting up XP in an hour is no big deal. I can do the same thing. How do I know? Because I have done it! I have copies of every Windows OS out there from XP on, including server versions. Again, we aren't talking about linux. This video is about PC VS MAC, My point with linux, is that it is worthless to your average computer user.
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@Shamanalaful Obviously a Mac is a PC, however, everybody uses that terminology. Besides, it saves me characters in my replies. Stop trying to make me stupid, you are obviously failing. You act like installing XP in an hour is such a big deal. Your making yourself look retarded. and Mac is not all caps. Just so you know.
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@Nilloc935 oh so its hard to change PC to MS? like it save you anykind of character? and im not talking about installing XP, im talking about optimizing it and tweeking it, installing XP take 30 minutes, 45 tops with a shitty computer,I tweek the machine to optimize it, going into regedit, enabling some feat, disabling other, gpedit if the PC's gonna be on a server, and so on... and FYI, "im still" a MS academic w/e student so I get almost anything from MS free... over 100 free stuff from MS...
Shamanalaful 1 month ago
@Shamanalaful It isn't for me, but I tend to use common terminology. Start saying MS, and people are gonna be like why in the heck are you talking about menstrual cycles? msconfig is another thing too Tweaking isnt hard, Not for people who have been doing it for years, obviously you, as well as I. Features are easy to enable and disable. No big deal. Your acting like it is. So what if you get a pen from Microsoft? That's probably half of what you get from them. The other half is shitty software
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@Nilloc935 I get 7 free, I get XP free, I get most software from MS exept MS Office free... and I havent check yet, but the beta of 8 too I shall get for free, I got VB free, Expression Web free, liscence that cost 60-100$ a piece, yeah I could crack it, but I get it legitly free... and its not because you can tweak a pc that it is automaticly easy, it is hard, most ppl dont even know what regedit or gpedit is... but it is hard stuff to tweak a pc for someone else than yourself...
Shamanalaful 1 month ago
@Shamanalaful I got a copy of XP for free. I paid $50 for Windows 7. VB is useless to me, as well as EW. And really? I have had a beta of Windows 8 for 2-3 months now! completely free and downloaded from MS's servers. Not that big a deal. Apple Developers get all of the OS X betas, as well as iOS betas for free.An OS X update is $30 for the any user.PCs (MS) charge anywhere from $150-$250 depending on what version of the OS you want, and most people don't get that free software you brag about.
Nilloc935 1 month ago
@maxassasin911 and had the wireless issue within the first month. My gateway had issues within the first few months. PC's aren't everything, and neither are Macs. My point is, I find Mac's to be more reliable, so I will continue to use them. They are also a lot easier to maintain, therefore, I don't spend anywhere near the amount of time maintaining computers. Use your PC, I'm not gonna be a hater. I have had my experiences with both OS's, and I have chosen my winner.

>clunky and tedious.

And don't give me that PPC can't core 2 duo or core i7, the core i7 SUCKS plain and simple.
PPC is what's used in suns processors, and you know how good those are? They make intel and amd shit themselves.

Want a real Operating system? Get linux, get a brain, and learn to compute.
kawaiifreak860 4 months ago
@kawaiifreak860 I know how to compute, and I have wanted Linux in the past, but I like the amount of things MAC can do. It's all opinion. BTW I've been thinking of downloading a second OS on my PC, probably Linux since mac will not work with my kinda PC. Windows as 1st OS, when I have tried them all out, I will tell for sure witch I like, it's all about what you are comfortable with. I am not to friendly with MAC or Linux for 1 thing, they do not run games without downloading software.

I'm so tired of hearing all of this bashing...so ill do my best to quell it...both machines are absolutely magnificent. Both sides need to realize that the other couldn't have gotten to where they are without making great computers. Truth is, Macs CAN be a hassle (steve jobs ;]), and PCs CAN get bogged down by malware etc...but in the end it comes down to preference and what a particular user wants to use...if someone is happy with their computer, don't be a **** and bash

attackattackkid 6 months ago
@attackattackkid for most users 2 gigs of ram is more than enough. you don't want that to be the selling point. the hard drive is also something that can be a good sales point but more than you need. i get ya, you want a good machine that will last. my experience has been they all will last if you take care of them mac or pc. the ram can be upgraded as well as the hard drive. my advice is build one. do your research, and buy quality parts.
