To atheists: Consider that if a Christian's praying for you or preaching to you, it might be because they're a genuinely good person who thinks they're saving you from eternal hell-suck.Not always (sometimes they're just doing it out of obligation) but give 'em the benefit of the doubt.
To Christians: Consider that we all grew up surrounded by Christianity, and we've all heard the pitch. The Good News isn't exactly "news" to any of us. So if we say "no thanks", please accept it and move on.
Heather, your personality reminds me of my friend Alison. She's so quirky and fun, She's amazing and she's all about doing things that matter in life, things that ACTUALLY matter. Alison is an amazing girl, and she's also a believer in Christ. I will pray for you.
@CompletelyLovely sorry about the whole thread of comments on your video. This guy really ticked me off. I don't understand how people can be so blatantly stupid.
I'm sorry too. This person ticked me off also. I am not going to be presumptuous and state what gender they are. I also can't understand how people can be so blatantly stupid.
Im still gonna pray for you... Oh btw dont call God an imaginary friend i take offense to that. Im not trying to judge your so called beliefs but just please dont insult him....
@ipodgeak123 you just said "her so called beliefs." Obviously you are judging them and by the nature of your diety you judge non-believers. The judeo-christian and Islamic God does not deserve respect even if it had been real.
No, I say let them pray. The more time they spend in useless prayer is less time they spend imposing their bronze age hateful superstitions on other people. So please, please spend all your time with head bowed and knees bent and less time engaging in the real world. At least that way they're not bothering the rest of us. This is one area where we want the same thing... though for different reasons.
JESUS LOVES SINNERS AND SAINTS BUT HATES ALL SINS AND SO DO I LIKE THE GUY NAMED JOB IN THE BIBLE WHO STOOD FOR GOD AND HATED EVERY EVIL WAY BECAUSE IF SOMEONE DIES IN THEIR SINS THEIR NOT HIS SON OR DAUGHTER ON THE FINAL JUDGEMENT DAY COMES AND FOREVER JESUS LOVES THE SAINTS AND SINNERS WHO HAVE NOT DIED IN THEIR SINS SO LIKE JESUS I WILL PRAY FOR THE SAINTS AND SINNERS MY ENEMIES TO UNTIL JESUS SAYS NOT TO PRAY ANYMORE FOR THEM
EVERYONE WILL FACE GOD ONE DAY HAPPILY NOW AND FOREVER OR LATTER AT THE WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT WHEN IT WILL TO LATE TO SAY I M SORRY YOU WERE BY ME AND GOD WORKING THROUGH ME BECAUSE HE LIVES INSIDE ME AND GIVES ME TRUE LIFE NOW AND FOREVER
IF YOU TRULY GOT TO KNOW JESUS THE CHRIST YOU WOULD NT WANT TO TURN YOUR BACK ON HIM YOU WOULD GROW CLOSER TO HIM 1# THEN LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF AND EVEN LOVE AND PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES THAT WHY I M PRAYING FOR YOU AND EVERYONE THAT HAS NOT WENT INTO ETERNITY YET THAT HAVE NOT DIED ROMANS 1 20 FOR THE INVISIABLE THINGS OF HIMFROM THE CREATION OF THE WORLD ARE CLEARLY SEEN SO THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE THE WORLD SHOWS THEIR IS A GOD .
@denisewolford7 im sorry but the exsistance of the world does not prove there is a god. u can pray for me now :) ill go on learning and educating myself about the real world in that time. but to make it even i think you should pray for me 16 hours a day... cause thats how much time i devote to learning about everything. i wouldnt want to be cheated by u! so u better pray for me the whole time! ok?
I agree with you, It is annoying, I let it go when my family does it all the time because they are expressing their love to me, ha ha, but I hate it when others tell me that they are preying for my salvation, there when I get mad!
The act of pointless mumbling of one's wishful thinking that the entirety of reality will magically kowtow to the petitioner's fantasies disguised as loving intercession to an all powerful invisible being who reflects the attitudes of the petitioner.
JESUS AND SAINTS WILL BE SAD FOR AND SINNERS THAT GO TO HELL JESUS DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO DIE INTHEIR SINS I M TALKING ABOUT SINNERS AND SAINTS THE SAINTS ARE NOT FEMALE OR MALE BUT ONE WITH CHRIST THEIR LORD DRAW NEAR TO THE LORD IT SAYS IN THE BIBLE AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU HE DRAWS YOU TO HIMSELF BUT YOU MUST COME BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE GOD S WORD IS FOR INSTRUCTION REBUKE CORRECTION HOPE THIS HELPS GOD LOVES THE SINNERS AND SAINTS BUT HATES EVERY EVIL WAY SIN OR SINS
@denisewolford7 YOUR CAPS LOCK IS STUCK IN THE "on" POSITION... ps if you hit the button that says "CAPS LOCK" on your key board, it will turn off and you wont look so silly.
Unfortunately I think it won't help, there must be something else stuck in the off position and it would require many years of education to resolve the issue.
LUKE 16 CHAPER AND VERSES 19 -31 THIS STORY AND JONAH CHAPTER 2 AND VERSES 1 AND 2 JONAH WENT TO HELL BUT GOD PROTECTED HIM BY A FISH AND JONAH CALLED OUT TO GOD JONAH DIDNT WANT TO GO TO NINEVEH BUT AFTER BEING IN HELL WHEN THINGS GOT BAD JONAH CALLED OUT TO GOD AND JONAH PREACHED IN GOD AND THE PEOPLE REPENTED
@denisewolford7 You do realize that most folks don't find this type of mindless parroting the least bit compelling, right? If anything, it's likely to have the opposite effect of what you are attempting to achieve.
AND IF YOU ARE FORCED ON JUDGEMENT DAY YOU WILL REGETFULLY REGRET THAT YOU DIDNT COME TO JESUS THIS YOU AND EVERYONE WHO CHOOSE NOT JESUS BUT CHOOSES NOT TO CHOOSE JESUS AS THEIR LORD BEFORE THEY DIE IN THEIR SINS IM PRAYING FOR THE SAINTS AND SINNERS TO COME TO JESUS BEFORE ITS TO LATE
@denisewolford7 Your a sad little troller. Please stop your embarrassing yourself and you really should be more humble with your believes. Thanks a bunch. :)
THE PROIDGAL SON CAME BACK TO THE FATHER THE FATHER REPRESENTS JESUS OUR HEAVENLY FATHER AND THE SON REPRESENTS US THE LOST SON OR DAUGHTER THAT COMES BACK TO JESUS I HOPE AND PRAY YOU COME BACK TO JESUS BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE THEN IT WILL BE TO LATE IT SAYS IN THE BIBLE EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS IS LORD WE WILLL WILLING OBEY CONFESSING JESUS BEFORE MEN NOW AND FOREVER OR FORCEFULLY ON JUDGEMENT DAY AT THE GREAT WHITE THRONE
i like it when people close their eyes and talk to themselves about me.
it is also neato when they say the prayed for me and nothing happens
it is a knee jerk cliche response like "youre in my thoughts and prayers" which is telling because it says thinking and praying are not related apparently.
i like when morons use it as a threat too "you better pray that blah blah blah.
It sounds like you care alot about that other people think about you. Why? Why do you care? Why does it bother you SO much that you have to make a video telling people to stop praying for you? It sounds like YOU need to find something better to do with your time to me.....and stop caring so much about what others think....
@imnotlookinganyway Err, I don't care what people think aqbout me. I care about them wasting their time. I made it very clear that I simply don't want to be involved in their useless prayers. That has nothing to do with caring about what people think about me. The couple comments I've noticed from you are just utter failiures to comprehend what's being said. It's awkward to see someone embarrass themself like this, but my guess is that you'll just keep on posting sad comments
CHECK OUT THIS BIBLE STORY ITS TRUE LUKE 16 CHAPER AND VERSES 19-31 IM PRAYING FOR SAINTS AND SINNERS TO TURN TO JESUS TO TURN TO JESUS BEFORE ITS TO LATE JESUS TELL HIS PEOPLE TO PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER AND EVEN PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES THAT COME TO KNOW GODS WORD HIM JESUS THE LIVING WORD IN ST JOHN 1 ST VERSES 1-3 CHAPER IT SAYS JESUS IS THE WORD JESUS IS GOD
I agree with you, It is very annoying! Just let them do it. My muslim family prays for me because they love me, and others do it just to be rewarded few extra privileges in heaven, like 5 more virgins on top of the 70 they were already promised by Allah!
you ever heard of the prodigal son he spent all hes money foolishly then ended up in the pigs pen eating with the pigs and felt sorry for leaving home and he came to his right mind and said to himself said i will arise and go to my FATHERS HOUSE and the father seen him afar off and ran to the son and the father said my son was dead and now is alive again wow praise GOD JESUS THE SAME CAN HAPPEN TO YOU
But praying for you is the most beautiful thing I can think of! Heather, have you heard of Rebecca St. James? You remind me so much of her. You and her look so much alike and carry the same zeal for life, but she's active in Contemporary Christian music and worship ministry. Having said that, I see your spiritual potential Heather & regardless of how U feel I wouldn't be sincere if I stop praying for you. I've seen the proof of God which you are lacking & my obedience to you grieves Him. Sorry!
Your so right, I've wanted to say this to so many people, so many times but could never bring the courage. I guess from my catholic upbringing a part of me still felt that it would be insulting to tell them not to, or to point out how pointless that would be. Religion sure does a great job of instilling guilt. But anyways I can't tell you how much of an inspiration you are. Its not often I get to speak my mind in a small town in WV. Its great to see a female Atheist speaking out. Thank you!
Fuck, I never thought my Christian bretheren have been bothering you with this much shit. Well, at least I paint war miniatures instead of sapping out faithless empty prayers, so don't worry about me.
I totally agree. I am an Atheist, and believe in action, rather than some archaic notion of a an invisible supreme being. Look at the state we're in; only WE can change the world and make it a better place. Every day is an opportunity to do something great for mankind. So instead of praying, attending church, or handing out bibles, got out and do something tangible and directly effectual. Help people in need.
ok first of all, the on_top_of_head_wannbe_bun is not doin it for ya. but on the real, tell them fundies to 'save their prayers for the ones who need it'.
@avril14thlove If I study religion any more, I'll have an even harder time finding something this nice to say about god. Go read your holy book. It's a wretched series of atrocities, sprinkled with a couple moderately charming sentiments.
@CompletelyLovely It makes me sad that you've lost any faith you once had, and truly believe that the christian God is one of hate and animosity. Though I don't doubt that your claims are backed with some very convincing material, I do feel that you've been led to the wrong conclusion, and actually am sort of intrigued with the concept of revoking one's faith...I'm not very familiar with it. Could you tell me more?
@avril14thlove Re: "It makes me sad that you've lost any faith you once had, and truly believe that the christian God is one of hate and animosity. Though I don't doubt that your claims are backed with some very convincing material."
@avril14thlove Seriously, read the bible. Or the Quran if you're Muslim. Read your holy book. If you've read it, read it again. Reading the bible and concluding that god is benevolent is like like reading Lord of the Rings and concluding that Sauron is benevolent. Anyone with a lust for that much slaughter just isn't good. As for revoking faith, if you're interested there are some great videos on youtube where people share their beautifully liberating deconversion stories.
"Then I heard the Lord say... 'Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! KILL THEM ALL - OLD AND YOU, GIRLS AND WOMEN AND LITTLE CHILDREN." Ezekiel 9:5-7
"If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, ... I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted." Leviticus 26:21-22
It takes somebody to know somebody is an Atheist. So I guess I'm somebody. And Imagine that, another Atheist that wants to defecate on the Bible. Do what you want with the Book. Leave the words alone.
@diglightdig Again, you seem to think you have some right to tell me what I will and will not do. The bible advocates slavery, the keeping of the virgins after you commit genocide, the idea of eternal torment, and is very inconsistent. Not to mention that you can tell by reading it that it's been written by the locals, locals who had no idea that other continents existed overseas. It makes for a good fairytale, sure. But that's all it is. A fairytale, just like Harry Potter.
I started out by saying please and then you proceeded in typical pissed off atheistic manner to let me know what you are gonna do to the Book. I don't care what you think happened back then or how you interpret the Bible. You don't believe in God or the Bible anyway. Give it to someone that does. Unless being Atheist means you don't have compassion for others.
I shall reiterate by saying that you have no right to tell me what to do. And I have every right to criticize your inconsistent fairy tale book. It's that simple. Later ;)
You wish it was that simple. Atheists are the most confused people I have ever encountered. They don't believe in something but continue to mock it every chance they get. C ya
Modesty is another characteristic that atheists do not have. What makes you think that your scientific equations are so infallible as to make someone that believes feel inadequate. The mockery is real and extremely obnoxious. ;-)
The scientific equations are backed up by extreme amounts of physical evidence to support them. If someone can prove that there are holes in the theory or the calculations, then the whole principle is scrapped and you start from scratch again.
Beliefs, however, have no evidence whatsoever. And when they are dismantled, folks like you get defensive and instead of counter-arguing with valid points, you resort to logical fallacies and mockery.
@diglightdig I, on the other hand, give you my reasoning and then outside of my reasoning insult you. Why? Because I think idiots like you should go back to grade school to relearn the basics. Herein lies the difference between you and I. My insults do not constitute my arguments, while yours do
Extreme amounts of evidence that you yourself cannot fathom. Where is the truth in these scientific equations. Why does 1 + 1 have to equal 2? Because some human being says so. You choose not to believe in Book written by a human being but, a scientist says something and it is truth. Such hypocrisy. Science is always changing. Red Wine is good for you and then it isn't. Give me break. Folks like you have not dismantled any beliefs except your own...idiot
Let me correct you on that part, you closed minded buffoon.
The equations are derived from hundreds upon hundreds of experiments that all point to the same pattern (within the bounds of acceptable uncertainty). Then they are put to the test by actually using them to construct buildings, cars, the computer you're using right now, the internet, etc.
Let me call you out on your obvious logical fallacy. A faulty analogy. You compared how science changes to how people's personal tastes change. It's not a matter of randomly changing things for no reason.
These theories are peer reviewed by the scientific community constantly. If someone finds a hole in it, it is dismantled and we go back to the drawing board.
You seem unable to process this, so you commit another logical fallacy: appeal to ridicule.
You commit yet another faulty analogy by comparing science to the bible. Now, bear it in mind that science is backed by hundreds of years of experimentation and evidence. Evidence that allowed us to construct skyscrapers, spaceships, planes. We even put a man on the moon. The GPS system? It would have never worked if Einstein didn't introduce his theories on special relativity, which says that time passes differently if you go faster.
When did I compare the Bible to science? I am able to process all that you can dish out and then some. I am not as closed minded as you. You are grounded by what you are told. You are grounded by theories that change with the passing of time. Science = endless change. Engineering brought forth all you mentioned. Einstein's theories are being torn apart at this very moment. It takes a buffoon to know a buffoon.
Einstein's theories are being torn apart? By what, exactly?
Science progresses. People used to think the Earth was flat. However it was shown that it is, in fact, of a spherical shape, orbiting the sun. The theories have always been subject to close scrutiny, and they always will be.
And you DID compare the bible to science: "You choose not to believe in Book written by a human being but, a scientist says something and it is truth"
A 12 year old genius is what is on the verge of disproving the beloved Einstein. Progression equals change.
I loosely compared two things written by human beings and you jumped all over it. Seriously, how can you compare the two except that they were both written by humans?
And to answer your "a 12 year old genius" comment. If you properly read the news on it, you'd know that he EXPANDED on the theory of relativity. That is how science works. You either expand on a theory, or you find a hole and scrap it.
For your second paragraph, I repeat; you compared science books to the bible. You compared theories backed by hundreds of thousands of facts with a book filled with fables, that is as credible as Harry Potter.
You said "Why does 1 + 1 have to equal 2?" Are you really this stupid? Do you need to go back to kindergarten or something? I mean, holy shit, you don't even know basic maths?
I don't really see any arguments you put forth. Your own reality makes you think that you are smarter than me. 1+ 1 equals whatever I want it to equal. Basic mathematics was created by humans. We have all been programmed. Our programming has flaws in it just like a computer program that fails. I'm sorry that your mind is so closed.
Science is objective, not subjective. It doesn't matter what your opinion on the matter is, you can't change how it works unless you provide evidence after years of experimentation and quantification of your results.
You commit another logical fallacy by making the faulty analogy between human's evolution and computer programs.
Your way of speech screams of ignorance, and if not, it screams of deceitful dishonesty.
It made no sense to you because you are at the mercy of what others say is so. How were numbers discovered? Some random person came across the number 1 and thought, there has to be more of these that come in a sequential order? Counting was not discovered. Evolution is not proven. Please define logical. You can't see through me because I don't exist in your eyes.
So many questions left unanswered? Answer my questions and I'll answer yours. Let's go back and forth and wind up right back at square one. Prove evolution...please...and don't give me the typical you are stupid response.
Prove evolution? It's already been proven through observation, comparative anatomy, comparative physiology, and comparative genetic research. The fact that you can ask me that question, tells me everything I need about you.
Also, you commit yet another logical fallacy. If you answer my argument with questions, that is called an appeal to ignorance.
So...evolution has been proven by comparative scientific claims?...
"Also, you commit yet another logical fallacy. If you answer my argument with questions, that is called an appeal to ignorance." (The pot calling the kettle black) Where is your argument?
I didn't misunderstand anything you said. I can read a dictionary.
Evolution is a word used to combine all comparative scientific data. Please give me something for sure to believe is real. And don't give me your definition.
Just because basic mathematics was DISCOVERED (not created) by humans, doesn't mean that it's false in any way. That is, yet again, another logical fallacy. An appeal to ridicule. I see right through you.
I'm not sure why you would be so put-off by anyone spending their time talking to their "imaginary friend on your behalf". If what you truly stand for is peace, equality, and such, I genuinely cannot see why what someone felt was time well spent would sadden or irritate you to the point of creating a video solely speaking about it. In addition, your way of speaking is very...overwhelming. I'm not sure how you're perceived in the real, non-digital world, but regardless, you bother me.
@hatemorethanyou999 (cont'd) Christ exhibits what some might consider supernatural patience and forgiveness. How many polytheist deities do you know, which would willingly obey the natural, moral, and legal mandates of humanity; only to let the humans they came to teach nail them to pieces of wood, baste them in the sun for six hours as they suffocated, and then impale them? With the facts, I don't argue: with conjecture, I might. On an unrelated note, perhaps we could do video responses,(con't)
@hatemorethanyou999 There's a world of difference between the followers of gods like Wotan and Thor, Ra, Jove, Allah, and the vast majority of other deities, and followers of Christ. When you have a deity, made in the likeness of a human being, it naturally follows that such a deity will exhibit the same flaws as a human, more than likely compounded by such a lofty status: namely, an extremely short fuse, for absolutely no reason. Christ exhibits the exact opposite end of the spectrum (con't)
@hatemorethanyou999 I don't understand why, simply because your idea of God is so different from that of the Bible's writers, you'd resort to an ad-hominem against them... especially one that's ethnically offensive, and literally untrue. People with an ethnic prejudice against Middle-Easterners, tend to call them all "goat-fuckers"; the term, itself, has been used as an ethnic slur against Jews; and, the Law of Moses forbids the literal definition of "goat-fucking".
@dameon692002 Re: " I don't understand why, simply because your idea of God is so different from that of the Bible's writers, you'd resort to an ad-hominem against them... especially one that's ethnically offensive . . ."
Alright--how about primitive Middle Eastern Goat Herders.
@hatemorethanyou999 ... but, there are religions that are not based on any form of theism - such as certain sects of Buddhism, Confucianism, and the Natural Law ideology, - and the literal definition of a religion is basically nothing more than a way of life: the very word is derived from the Latin word "religio", which simply means "to bind"; as in, to bind one's life according to any ideological statement or choice.
@dameon692002 cont. . . Ranging from the stupid incoherent mess that is Chronicles, to the sublime reflections of the poet of Job. From the nearly flawless prose of the morally bankrupt Judges, to the very average work in Proverbs--which would have been more accurately named "Platitudes." My only conclusion was that these books have nothing to do with God whatsoever--hence, "goat-fuckers."
@hatemorethanyou999 Religion requires faith, to be sure; but it's faith based on rationale, experience, and evidence. Regardless of how much anybody puts their own conjecture into the facts, the facts remain. The question becomes, how much of any religious system is conjecture, and how much is based on standards like rationale, experience, and evidence? And, before the "Atheism isn't a religion" argument comes up... as long as one's life isn't lived according to atheism, you're right...
@hatemorethanyou999 library (dot) thinkquest (dot) org (slash) 3487 (slash) qp (dot) h t m l was where I got my information. Perhaps I missed something when I read that article...
Now, for the $64,000.00 question: why are there such laws, and why can't they ever be defied? This is why scientists generally stay away from questions of origins, or anything else attributable to a religious context: science can't answer those questions.
@dameon692002 "Now, for the $64,000.00 question: why are there such laws, and why can't they ever be defied? This is why scientists generally stay away from questions of origins, or anything else attributable to a religious context: science can't answer those questions."
NOMA all the way! We fail to have the pleasure of a disagreement here.
@hatemorethanyou999 Wave-particle theory is the reason Schroedinger's cat was developed: at the same time, electrons are both waves, and particles... a fact that, on a larger scale, defies the laws of nature.
@dameon692002 "Wave-particle theory is the reason Schroedinger's cat was developed: at the same time, electrons are both waves, and particles... a fact that, on a larger scale, defies the laws of nature."
Wrong! Waves are phenomenon of particles--which means physicists still have more work to do in this field. btw We may change our ideas concerning the laws of nature, but science is based upon the premise that there are such laws and that they can't ever be defied.
@dameon692002 One more thing: Even though I am a Deist, I have to remain open to the possibility that every thing in this reality has a natural explanation. And I have to be aware that my religious feelings, such as they are, are personal.
@hatemorethanyou999 To quantify means to assign something a value, based on how much of it there is. Any such value must be objective. The fact that none of those things have an objecive measurement of quantity means that it's unquantifiable.
Schroedinger's cat is a hypothetical principle, which is a founding basis of quantum physics: until we see the cat, it's both alive and dead at the same time, because we can't be sure. none of our senses could tell us anything about the cat in the box.
@dameon692002 Re: " To quantify means to assign something a value, based on how much of it there is. Any such value must be objective. The fact that none of those things have an objecive measurement of quantity means that it's unquantifiable."
Wrong! The effect of aesthetically pleasing or unpleasing (beauty) has been measured. Things that are pleasing to an individual effect a certain part of the brain, things unpleasing go to another part--the amount of this activity is measurable.
What if the person who promises to pray for you really can't do anything else... say, for example, that person happens to be living on the streets? Would you still feel the same way? If not, why begrudge Christians who wish they could help and can't, from doing something they believe may be helpful? If so... then you have my sympathy.
@dameon692002 "If praying for someone is the only way you can show you care, why not let them know?"
Only way?
Sure, it would be a good thing between Christians, but its arrogance if said towards an atheist.
There are many ways you can tell an atheist you care without offending them and putting yourself on pedestal.
How would you feel if I told you, “I’m so sorry, I will pray for you to my teddy bear”, I will make a voodoo spell for you or whatever you might consider nonsense?
@dameon692002 "Some people just like to know you care.” --> sure, but others are just disingenuous pricks who use “prayer” to hand out under-the-table insults on a persons character and/or morality.
@BaneOfAzrael Perhaps, but we don't know who those people are, until we meet them. While I can't support the injustice of our so-called "criminal justice" system, there is one concept I support: "Innocent, until proven guilty". Beside that, some people genuinely care, but they can't do anything about it... such as homeless people, or family members of people who have a debilitating disease or injury. It's beneficial for both the person being prayed for, and those who want to do something to...
@dameon692002 "but they can't do anything about it... such as homeless people”
--> well if a daily two minute prayer for the homeless translates to 896 hours over an 80 year life span its not that the individual is powerless, its that they are impractical or lazy.
its not hard, they can volunteer with a soup kitchen, donate to charity, etc.
@dameon692002 as for the person who’s sick, if they don’t believe than the prayer is more for the benefit of the one praying. its a “your sick, so I’m going to pray to make myself feel better"
@BaneOfAzrael Is there something wrong with wanting to feel like you're doing something, even when you can't? Doesn't that come from concern for somebody who's suffering, rather than some selfish desire for gratification?
@dameon692002 "Is there something wrong with wanting to feel like you're doing something” --> no, that feeling is natural. Your actions determine the appropriateness. If your actions are self serving to make you feel better without doing anything to actually improve the situation then its ultimately selfish and not productive
@dameon692002 "Is there something wrong with wanting to feel like you're doing something, even when you can't?"
Can't or won't? Useless mumbliings intended to offer yourself some smug self satisfactioned delusion of real action is vile and degenerate. Only a sociopath would attempt to posit that as a real solution to suffering.
@BaneOfAzrael If a person has made abundantly clear that knowing others are praying for them will only upset them more, then prayers should be kept private. If they're not offended or hurt by the sentiment, why not let them know somebody cares?
@dameon692002 But sure, if the person praying has made it clear that they don’t care or won’t be upset, and appreciates the sentiment, then there is no harm in it, the time just could be better spent. If I’m sick,why not donate money to a cancer research fund? If I’m homeless feed me, or enable others to do so, If a family member is sick offer to help with something small (drive my kids to school or bake us a casserole) These also show that the person cares and its productive.
@BaneOfAzrael That's my point, though: if you can do something else, by all means, do that. It's if you actually can't, such as in my example about a homeless person wanting to pray for somebody else, because there's nothing they can do anyway.
@dameon692002 "such as in my example about a homeless person wanting to pray for somebody else, because there's nothing they can do anyway.” --> and to be blunt, i pointed out that that was bullsh*t. You can do something in that situation, you can do something productive in most situations. Saying “Well i can’t do anything so I’m going to resort to payer” is 1 being lazy and 2 if you take prayer seriously, you kinda suck at it then.
@dameon692002 I mean isn’t that the point? To go out lead by example though action? Admittedly Its been a while, I do recall something about feeding the hungry, clothing the impoverished, visiting the imprisoned, taking care of the sick, giving water to the thirsty, inviting in those who don’t have a place to stay, etc being in the bible from their “savour” as well as jesus promoting private prayer.
@BaneOfAzrael It seems to me that we're on the same page on that. My point was that, if you really can't do something about it, why not do something you believe will work? Especially if you think telling somebody that you're praying for them will give them some measure of hope.
@dameon692002 "why not do something you believe will work? "
Because you're wasting time and brain cells that could be used to actually find an answer. Deluding yourself you have some "power" in those instances wherein you are truly powerless is just a lie, and where is there some virtue in avoiding the truth for a comforting lie? is that really all your sad little myth boils down too? A security blanket?
@moopism See, this is why you fail: poisoning the wells - especially based on pure lies, - in such a desperate, pathetic manner is an invalid argument. Go out and do something productive, if you can; or, if you can't, at least stop wasting our time with your campaign slogans from "The God Delusion".
@dameon692002 for someone who prays as much as u... im supprized u care about wasting time. campaign slogans for the god delusion? how about your campaign for the bible? example... your trolling this video! desperate and pathetic? your the one who looks desperate. your praying (with NO real evidence that it works) to a supernatural being to help you (thats pathetic) lol wait a min! "jealous u cant get a boyfriend of your own??" ARE U SERIOUSLY admitting to having an invisible boyfriend?
@theoreticalythinking You're actually lecturing me about wasting time? If it's such a waste of time to talk to me, why do it? I'm surprised you care, at all. Yeah, how about I campaign about the Bible? Oh, wait.. you haven't looked at my channel, have you? Speaking of trolls, you do know you don't have to respond, right? You honestly don't have any sense of retrospect, do you? Speaking of evidence, did you even bother looking for any? No? Guess you fail at science, then.
@dameon692002 wow! i didnt say it was a waste of time to talk to you. ill talk to anyone. (r u assuming already?) i was pointing out the fact that you said your time was being wasted when that person was spouting out "quotes from the god delusion"... supposedly! (assuming again? i guess someone's obsessed with something, or do u know for a fact that person read the god delusion?) you could have walked away and not wasted more of your time, or you could have not commented on this page at all.
@dameon692002 (troll much? its ok me too) adding to that you didnt respond to my statement about prayer being a waste of time. (y not?) RIGHT! a troll would respond wouldnt he? amazing you see this now... (dont look now but your a hypocrite, theres some retrospect for ya) haha i didnt have to look at your channel to gather evidence... all the evidence i needed for my argument was right here. and thats all the evidence i used in my argument.
@dameon692002 your trolling (obviously) which is a pretty clear sign of where you stand on this issue. y would i need to go to your channel? (lol i fail at science, how long have you wanted to say that? it doesnt even apply) i told you where i gathered the "evidence" from. oh man... retrospect? are u proof reading what your typing or do u just like sounding this bad? (your guilty of all the things u just accused me of)
To atheists: Consider that if a Christian's praying for you or preaching to you, it might be because they're a genuinely good person who thinks they're saving you from eternal hell-suck.Not always (sometimes they're just doing it out of obligation) but give 'em the benefit of the doubt.
To Christians: Consider that we all grew up surrounded by Christianity, and we've all heard the pitch. The Good News isn't exactly "news" to any of us. So if we say "no thanks", please accept it and move on.

Look at the state we're in; only WE can change the world and make it a better place. Every day is an opportunity to do something great for mankind. So instead of praying, attending church, or handing out bibles, got out and do something tangible and directly effectual. Help people in need.

@avril14thlove Seriously, read the bible. Or the Quran if you're Muslim. Read your holy book. If you've read it, read it again. diglightdig 3 weeks ago
A fairytale, just like Harry Potter.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
I started out by saying please and then you proceeded in typical pissed off atheistic manner to let me know what you are gonna do to the Book. saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
Modesty is another characteristic that atheists do not have. What makes you think that your scientific equations are so infallible as to make someone that believes feel inadequate. The mockery is real and extremely obnoxious. ;-)
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
The scientific equations are backed up by extreme amounts of physical evidence to support them. If someone can prove that there are holes in the theory or the calculations, then the whole principle is scrapped and you start from scratch again.
Beliefs, however, have no evidence whatsoever. And when they are dismantled, folks like you get defensive and instead of counter-arguing with valid points, you resort to logical fallacies and mockery.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig I, on the other hand, give you my reasoning and then outside of my reasoning insult you. Why? Because I think idiots like you should go back to grade school to relearn the basics. Herein lies the difference between you and I. My insults do not constitute my arguments, while yours do
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
Folks like you have not dismantled any beliefs except your own...idiot
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Let me correct you on that part, you closed minded buffoon.
The equations are derived from hundreds upon hundreds of experiments that all point to the same pattern (within the bounds of acceptable uncertainty). Then they are put to the test by actually using them to construct buildings, cars, the computer you're using right now, the internet, etc.
cont
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
You seem unable to process this, so you commit another logical fallacy: appeal to ridicule.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
You commit yet another faulty analogy by comparing science to the bible. Now, bear it in mind that science is backed by hundreds of years of experimentation and evidence. Evidence that allowed us to construct skyscrapers, spaceships, planes. We even put a man on the moon. The GPS system? It would have never worked if Einstein didn't introduce his theories on special relativity, which says that time passes differently if you go faster.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
It takes a buffoon to know a buffoon.
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Seriously.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
A 12 year old genius is what is on the verge of disproving the beloved Einstein. Progression equals change.
I loosely compared two things written by human beings and you jumped all over it. Seriously, how can you compare the two except that they were both written by humans?
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Right
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Outside of my arguments, I have this to say.
You said "Why does 1 + 1 have to equal 2?" Are you really this stupid? Do you need to go back to kindergarten or something? I mean, holy shit, you don't even know basic maths?
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
I don't really see any arguments you put forth. Your own reality makes you think that you are smarter than me. 1+ 1 equals whatever I want it to equal. Basic mathematics was created by humans. We have all been programmed. Our programming has flaws in it just like a computer program that fails. I'm sorry that your mind is so closed.
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
That made no sense...
Science is objective, not subjective. It doesn't matter what your opinion on the matter is, you can't change how it works unless you provide evidence after years of experimentation and quantification of your results.
You commit another logical fallacy by making the faulty analogy between human's evolution and computer programs.
Your way of speech screams of ignorance, and if not, it screams of deceitful dishonesty.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
It made no sense to you because you are at the mercy of what others say is so. How were numbers discovered? Some random person came across the number 1 and thought, there has to be more of these that come in a sequential order? Counting was not discovered. Evolution is not proven. Please define logical. You can't see through me because I don't exist in your eyes.
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Evolution is not proven? Well, I guess I'm dealing with a creationist.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
So many questions left unanswered? Answer my questions and I'll answer yours. Let's go back and forth and wind up right back at square one. Prove evolution...please...and don't give me the typical you are stupid response.
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Prove evolution? It's already been proven through observation, comparative anatomy, comparative physiology, and comparative genetic research. The fact that you can ask me that question, tells me everything I need about you.
Also, you commit yet another logical fallacy. If you answer my argument with questions, that is called an appeal to ignorance.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
So...evolution has been proven by comparative scientific claims?...
"Also, you commit yet another logical fallacy. If you answer my argument with questions, that is called an appeal to ignorance." (The pot calling the kettle black) Where is your argument?
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig you misunderstood what I said.
Comparative anatomy is animals being dissected and their inner structures categorized and compared with animals of other species.
Comparative physiology is about their inner chemical workings.
Comparative genetics is about their genetic makeup.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig You argue that evolution isn't proven, but if you couldn't understand what I said earlier... do you even know what evolution IS?
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
@saiyanmage
I didn't misunderstand anything you said. I can read a dictionary.
Evolution is a word used to combine all comparative scientific data. Please give me something for sure to believe is real. And don't give me your definition.
diglightdig 3 weeks ago
@diglightdig
Just because basic mathematics was DISCOVERED (not created) by humans, doesn't mean that it's false in any way. That is, yet again, another logical fallacy. An appeal to ridicule. I see right through you.
saiyanmage 3 weeks ago
I'm not sure why you would be so put-off by anyone spending their time talking to their "imaginary friend on your behalf". If what you truly stand for is peace, equality, and such, I genuinely cannot see why what someone felt was time well spent would sadden or irritate you to the point of creating a video solely speaking about it. On an unrelated note, perhaps we could do video responses,(con't)
dameon692002 3 months ago
@hatemorethanyou999 There's a world of difference between the followers of gods like Wotan and Thor, Ra, Jove, Allah, and the vast majority of other deities, and followers of Christ. When you have a deity, made in the likeness of a human being, it naturally follows that such a deity will exhibit the same flaws as a human, more than likely compounded by such a lofty status: namely, an extremely short fuse, for absolutely no reason. Christ exhibits the exact opposite end of the spectrum (con't)

People with an ethnic prejudice against Middle-Easterners, tend to call them all "goat-fuckers"; the term, itself, has been used as an ethnic slur against Jews; and, the Law of Moses forbids the literal definition of "goat-fucking".

Alright--how about primitive Middle Eastern Goat Herders.
hatemorethanyou999 3 months ago
@hatemorethanyou999 ... but, there are religions that are not based on any form of theism - such as certain sects of Buddhism, Confucianism, and the Natural Law ideology, - and the literal definition of a religion is basically nothing more than a way of life: the very word is derived from the Latin word "religio", which simply means "to bind"; as in, to bind one's life according to any ideological statement or choice.
dameon692002 3 months ago
@dameon692002 cont. . . Ranging from the stupid incoherent mess that is Chronicles, to the sublime reflections of the poet of Job. From the nearly flawless prose of the morally bankrupt Judges, to the very average work in Proverbs--which would have been more accurately named "Platitudes." My only conclusion was that these books have nothing to do with God whatsoever--hence, "goat-fuckers."
hatemorethanyou999 3 months ago
@hatemorethanyou999 Religion requires faith, to be sure; but it's faith based on rationale, experience, and evidence. Regardless of how much anybody puts their own conjecture into the facts, the facts remain. The question becomes, how much of any religious system is conjecture, and how much is based on standards like rationale, experience, and evidence? And, before the "Atheism isn't a religion" argument comes up... as long as one's life isn't lived according to atheism, you're right...

Now, for the $64,000.00 question: why are there such laws, and why can't they ever be defied? This is why scientists generally stay away from questions of origins, or anything else attributable to a religious context: science can't answer those questions.

And I have to be aware that my religious feelings, such as they are, are personal.
hatemorethanyou999 3 months ago
@hatemorethanyou999 To quantify means to assign something a value, based on how much of it there is. Any such value must be objective. The fact that none of those things have an objecive measurement of quantity means that it's unquantifiable.
Schroedinger's cat is a hypothetical principle, which is a founding basis of quantum physics: until we see the cat, it's both alive and dead at the same time, because we can't be sure. none of our senses could tell us anything about the cat in the box.

If so... then you have my sympathy.
dameon692002 3 months ago
@dameon692002
Praying for someone that you know will not appreciate it is quite arrogant.
Why tell her they are going to pray for her?
Why not simply just do it and keep quiet about it if it’s really important for you?
saintpine 1 month ago
@saintpine Some people just like to know you care. If praying for someone is the only way you can show you care, why not let them know?

@dameon692002 "If praying for someone is the only way you can show you care, why not let them know?"
Only way?
Sure, it would be a good thing between Christians, but its arrogance if said towards an atheist.
There are many ways you can tell an atheist you care without offending them and putting yourself on pedestal.
How would you feel if I told you, “I’m so sorry, I will pray for you to my teddy bear”, I will make a voodoo spell for you or whatever you might consider nonsense?
saintpine 1 month ago
@dameon692002 "Some people just like to know you care.” --> sure, but others are just disingenuous pricks who use “prayer” to hand out under-the-table insults on a persons character and/or morality.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago

BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@dameon692002 as for the person who’s sick, if they don’t believe than the prayer is more for the benefit of the one praying. its a “your sick, so I’m going to pray to make myself feel better"
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Is there something wrong with wanting to feel like you're doing something, even when you can't? Doesn't that come from concern for somebody who's suffering, rather than some selfish desire for gratification?
dameon692002 1 month ago

@BaneOfAzrael ... help, but can't.
dameon692002 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael If a person has made abundantly clear that knowing others are praying for them will only upset them more, then prayers should be kept private. If they're not offended or hurt by the sentiment, why not let them know somebody cares?
dameon692002 1 month ago
@dameon692002 But sure, if the person praying has made it clear that they don’t care or won’t be upset, and appreciates the sentiment, then there is no harm in it, the time just could be better spent. If I’m sick,why not donate money to a cancer research fund? If I’m homeless feed me, or enable others to do so, If a family member is sick offer to help with something small (drive my kids to school or bake us a casserole) These also show that the person cares and its productive.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago

BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@dameon692002 I mean isn’t that the point? To go out lead by example though action? Admittedly Its been a while, I do recall something about feeding the hungry, clothing the impoverished, visiting the imprisoned, taking care of the sick, giving water to the thirsty, inviting in those who don’t have a place to stay, etc being in the bible from their “savour” as well as jesus promoting private prayer.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael It seems to me that we're on the same page on that. My point was that, if you really can't do something about it, why not do something you believe will work? Especially if you think telling somebody that you're praying for them will give them some measure of hope.
dameon692002 1 month ago
@dameon692002 "why not do something you believe will work? "
Because you're wasting time and brain cells that could be used to actually find an answer. Deluding yourself you have some "power" in those instances wherein you are truly powerless is just a lie, and where is there some virtue in avoiding the truth for a comforting lie? is that really all your sad little myth boils down too? A security blanket?

"jealous u cant get a boyfriend of your own??" ARE U SERIOUSLY admitting to having an invisible boyfriend?

@theoreticalythinking You're actually lecturing me about wasting time? If it's such a waste of time to talk to me, why do it? I'm surprised you care, at all. Yeah, how about I campaign about the Bible? Oh, wait.. you haven't looked at my channel, have you? Speaking of trolls, you do know you don't have to respond, right?
