  • i remember the first time this happened it scared me cause the window in the submerged observation window is huge. i thought it was gonna crack

  • this game was so fun..

  • This freaked me out, but not as much as the random little girl that pops up in the jungle. Man, the adrenaline was still running through my veins several hours later.

btw, this is the best video game ever made.

  • If this is Gehn's pet, how is he supposed to "play" with it?

  • He feeds it people.

  • this thing startled me the 1st time lol I was 10 I think

  • I was 4 when i first played Riven. Now im 13 and have them all :P

  • I think what made this really scary for me, was all the clues about what the Wahrk was expecting to happen. The kids toy you use to learn the numbers on that had people being fed to a wahrk; the tower that was actually used drop prisoners down to it; the fact that that sick bastard Gehn watched people get eaten right in front of him like that. Just thinking about all those things and pressing that button over and over... then WHAM!!! Definitely a "HOLY SHIT" moment if there ever was one.

  • AND, that "cruelty" or "obsessed with death" idea was inherited by Achenar when he was born, explaining all the scary machines he used, littering all the Ages you see in MYST 1, and he was still like that up until Myst IV, where he finally stops, and cares for his own prison world.

  • This scene really startled/scared me the first time I played Riven. And I was about 13. :P

  • Yeah, I was 9.

  • Isn't their a Wahrk skeleton is Uru?

  • Yeah, near as I can tell it came through the Fissure at the end of Riven

  • no eating here tonight...no no no eating here tonight you on a diet /finding nemo

  • Really man WHOW What Great but y want in 3D river Will be Great :]

  • dam y hope the disc can be avalible on pc WILL BE GREAT

  • You can find the PC edition at many places online. I occasionally see it in the trade bin at some retailers, so you can try there first.

  • I saw this first in a nightmare without using the chair, then I did it myself, and boy was I scared! I said, "Golly wolly doodle!!"

  • Riven was the best in the series. It was so imaginative. I wish they could develop games with a true sense of uniqueness like this.

  • lol what the hell is that thing? ( i know it's a whark/wahrk/whatever) srsly WTF?! rofl

  • that happened to me with a Myst competitor called Obsidian. I scratched disc 5 by mistake. Then again, I deserved it because I obsessed about that particular game for a time.

  • I remember when this bit came up the first time i freaked out too!

  • Man, I hope you're not this stupid in real life.

  • @DattuWarptera hahaha agreed!

  • nah, this actually happens if ya call it enough

  • @mikedjmix

    lololololololol

  • no tis actually spelled warhk i know that from the riven soundtrack. I LOVE THIS PART IN THE GAME HAHAH GOOD VIDEO

  • Its spelled Whark, not Wahrk.

  • Other people have commented on this. In the game, it's spelled both ways. IIRC, the strategy guide said Gehn misspelled it and that it is actually 'wahrk.'

  • @DattuWarptera good knowledge

  • I used to call the Wahrk 'Mr. Fishy' when I was little. My dad had to have a save reserved for me when I wanted to see him. XD

  • Shoot, I screamed when this happened to me! This was possibly the scariest freaking game ever, to a third grader. ;P

  • i nearly peed my pants when i got to this scene the very first time!! then my bro and i did the cut scene over and over again (because we were getting over our fear and it was hilarious after awhile(in the minds of 2nd graders)(well, and still now))

  • bwhahaah i LOVE this game...i beat this with the help of my parents when i was like 11...it was sooo cool

  • I think the name 'Whark' is taken from 'Whale' and 'Shark'

  • "Whark" is Gehn's misspelling of the animal's name. It's actually Wahrk.

  • Maybe, but I still think it's taken from the two creatures I named above.

  • The strategy guide actually directly says that that's the origin of the name.

  • oh yeah, also i thought that the glass was gonna break and this would be like a bad ending.

  • i remember when my older sister first tried this game, and got to this scene, when the whark rammed into the glass, we all just jumped in surprisement, seriously. We were like, whoa!

  • Gehn feeds people he doesn't like to the Wahrks...

  • hehehe, stupid Wahrk... I love this game
