that is soo true about what drs say my sons dr told me to suplament ccuz of how often n how long he was eating n i said no it is only cuz breast milk goes right through them
Breast feeding is also good because it passes on PASSIVE immunity from mother to child. That is, whatever antibodies the mother has acquired will be passed onto the baby to prevent the baby from becoming sick.Of course breast is all natural without preservatives or additives...so the breast is best
My breast didn't get small until about 14 months! I breastfed my son until he was 15 mths and I'm so glad I did. There's so much nutrients formula doesn't have, plus formula is man made. Another thing to add is that it's good for mother too. Decreases the risk of breast, ovarian and cervical cancer.
Lucky for me I had great docs n nurses, they told me as long as my son is gaining weight he's fine :D
You are so right, I breast fed by daughter until she was 16 mts. I was the only person in my family to do so, so I had no support. I remember when I had her a black nurse, looked at me and told me that my child was going to starve because my milk wasn't coming out. I hate to say, but I got more encouragement from non- black women. yes, hispanic women offered me a set to nurse and my own kind were offened.
i am so glad u said that was bs about supplementing!!!! I breastfeed all 3 of my boys and plan to breastfeed my next child. I did have to supplement is due to milk being low but got it right back up after taking mothers milk tea. im so for breastfeeding. next time around i will really try to refrain from supplementing. and then the bs people say "its a white womans thing" that sounds so stupid. then when females say it makes them feel uncomfortable bcuz their spouse sucks their breast
i only breast feed my four month old baby and sometimes it pisses me off when people tell me to give my child formula and ur so right about the pumping thing that happened to me and i was thinking my baby wasnt getting enough to eat but he gained weight and everthing so i guess he is good
ok, you go girl for going 13 months! my daughter is 7 months and i wanna stop breatfeeding her- any suggestions on how to get her on the bottle/formula?
Well if I were you I'd just wait until she is ready, you can just cut down her feedings from your breast to maybe 3 times a day morning, noon, night and in between give her a 2-3 oz. of formula, thats what I did when I weened mine to whole milk, remember it takes time.
Great information. I would only add to watch what you ingest ladies. If you wouldn't want to feed it to your baby don't eat it while you are still breastfeeding!
yes I forgot to mention this, your body will let you know what foods your baby likes and what it doesn't. Right now I'm on strike from beef, broccli, garlic, and orange juice just to name a few.
oh and my daughter will be 2 in a few months and she has never been sick in her life... lol. even attending daycare! she has a beautiful skin complexion. clear eyes. healthy hair. she's VERY intelligent. KNOWS HOW TO NURTURE [which is so crazy to see] and shes thick as a STALLION! and not fat... BREAST FEED THOSE BABIES!
I was a serial breast feeder. lol. I even went as far as freezing my colostrum. she had a bottle of colostrum a day until she was about 3 months. She is now 20 months and i'm trying so desperately to ween her off. lol. however i do agree that it was the best thing i could do for her. thanks for encouraging people to do what they were intended to.
that is fantastic, and I wouldn't worry about your daughter still nursing when shes ready she'll let you know, just think in 10 years they won't even want you around, try to enjoy her now.
I'd also like to add that breastfeeding helps to take off the baby fat you gained from pregnancy. I was always able to get back to my prepregancy weight after breastfeeding. Not to mention the feeling or relief and total relaxation that comes over you when you breastfeed. Oh I remember the days. Wish I didn't listen to my mom and breastfed my daughter. But thank goodness I had the chance to do it with my two boys. Great vid.
This is a great educational video... God Bless you for sharing this info, so many young Black women need to hear this from a real sista like yourself :)
I'm so glad you did this video. It was really informational, I felt like I was listening to my midwife and breastfeeding coach all over again. LOL. "Breast milk is the cure for AIDs" might be on to something there
I appreciate what you said about flat breast having milk. My baby girl is three months. I've always been small with small breast...sometimes I feel as if I have nothing in their for her, but her little bowel (tmi...:) movements say otherwise! And no one told me that breastfed babies pooped so much! I supplemented with my other two...anywho, I've never changed so many diapers per day. I had to nick name her stanka buggie!
it also depends on the child, because my hospital rather breast feeding than formula. the first days in the hospital my daughter did not feed, she wouldn't lach on and the doctors didn't want to give her formula. my baby only took breast at night jus for comfort but as a feeding she wouldn't until we finally had to give her formula cause she jus didn't like the breast milk ( even when pumped into a bottle) 1 1/2 after giving birth my milk dried up because of that
I agree, thats why its said that as soon as your baby is pushed out you should bring them close to your breast so they can smell the milk, but yes every child and nursing mother is different you just have to find what works for you, maybe if you have more children you'll be able to nurse its such a wonderful feeling.
Good vid Lady! Also the american academy of pediatrics also suggest that if anyone in your family gets "pink eye" to simply put breast milk in the eye and it will go away! The same for ear infections! Another side bar note is I breastfed my son for approx. 2yrs and my breast are no where near flat or deflated!
love the video, and then u backed the info with ur support group but anyway, although i am not currently preg. trhis video and the fact that u breastfeed both of ur kids 12months makes me want to give it another try, when i had my son i did 4 about 2 weeks but not exclusively, (but i pumped alot,) but thnx 4 the video
Congrats! Thank You for being frank about breastfeeding lies and idiocy! BS perfectly describes the nonsense some people perpetuate regarding breastfeeding.
you are really informative my daughter is almost five this month..and Its like I have forgotten Im expecting in three weeks.

breast milk is produced on demand, suckling action of the baby stimulates the milk to be produced
