Nope. Its a Thalys (hence the title) and we were on a trip from Paris to Brussels. Nice guess though.

my gramps is friends with the driver... they met at some train show or somethin. When we go to France we stay at his house and I asked if there was a possibility that I could get a cab ride... which I did!

The effect was much more dramatic if you were actually in the cab. The sound is delayed after the actual strike too. Its just happened to occur when I was recording. I love animals so it was kind of shocking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Paris to Lille takes about 1hour!!! THat's around 300K+ !! Can you believe in prehistoric Ireland a train journey from Dublin to Galway (about 200-220K) takes over 3 hours!!! Especially on a weekend. I heard passengers scream when we reached about 100Kph because the train vibrated & shaked so much. Viva le France! ;)

Be a French Citizen. Work up the SNCF seniority wise and youll eventually make it to driving different types of TGV. The peak of seniority is the Eurostar which they also drive from England to France so you could be an English Citizen and aim for the Eurostar.

Fantastic video? I wonder how you managed to be in the driver's cab at 300 kph? I love the TGV. I travelled this summer from Paris to Nice in a TGV Duplex. I was sitting upstairs.Please let me know if you hear of good developements with TGVs? If they make them even faster.
