@Lagolop I've flown extensively between US & Israel over 20+ years, usually on ElAl. Nearly all their pilots have combat experience and are trained to take off & land very quickly in certain airports to avoid shoulder-fired missiles which could be fired from nearby wooded areas at El Al flights. They are in the process of installing $1.5M anti-missile systems on all commercial Israeli international flights. Always 2 steps ahead...

yes, probably for security reasons. the take off and the landing are the most dangerous moment for the security of an airplane ( the risk of a terror attack )
