I cannot wait for this guy to be appointed Prime Minister. A truly inspiring man, a true economics genius. If his methods are adopted by other Europeans and prove to be successful, then he scores the Nobel Prize in economics!
@djvonski you DO know that he was born in London, spent most of his life in Britain, and holds dual Polish-British citizenship, right? His English is beautiful, by all means, but one could not expect anything less than that from someone who is a native speaker of the language. This said - it is really refreshing to listen to a Polish politician who does not sound like someone vying for the Best Borat-Impersonator Award.

(Financial Times 12.05.09) article "Poland considers euro delay"
While Mr Rostowski has disputed the commission's numbers, he acknowledges the economy is slowing sharply. "Our forecasts are still that we expect positive growth[3,7%, latest 1,7%] this year, but obviously given the degree of uncertainty . . . it may end up that the commission will have been correct.[-1,4%]"
Don't you think that between +3,7% and -1,4% is huge gap !? Rostowski is worst finance minister since 1989.

He predicted government deficit in 2008 on 2 %, (2,7%) but the real deficit was 4%!!! For whole 2009 this „economic genius has predicted 18 billion PLN of deficit, but now after 4 months of 2009 we have 15 billion already !!! Does it mean anything for you ?!
IMF and EU Commission told that Poland will face recession in 2009 and this „genius says they are wrong. Unemployment in Poland rising dramatically as well as inflation , value of currency (polish zloty) will fall down soon.
Prof. Rostowski was a professor of mine at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. I took "Comparative Macroeconomic Policies" with him. A really smart guy, an LSE graduate, he also has a British citizenship.
Well, that expalins why he has such a good British accent. He is an amazing exception amongst most of the Polish politicians who cannot say a word in English, not mentioning to pronounce it properly...

Rostowski IS the worst Polish finance ministers. Great master at manipulatingnumbers and cooking the financial books though.

It is well-known fact that he has no polish citizenship but british.
