These were Gore's true beliefs "regarding Saddam Hussein, terrorism, and WMD" in 1992, not in 2002, and certainly not today. The Iraqi government abandoned its nuclear weapons program before 2001. That's why evidence of the program existed in 1992, but did not by 2001. That's also we Americans found no evidence after we foolishly invaded Iraq in 2003.

Anyone who changed his mind about this subject showed a commendable ability to adapt to the complex and ever-changing problem that was Iraq.

Also, the 2000 presidential debate transcripts indicate that both candidates were circumspect whether Iraq had WMDs. Now reading back on history and remembering what was going down, remember the majority in the Congress was the Republicans from 1996 on. From what I have read the Repubs didn't take Clinton seriously because of the Lewinsky scandel. It wasn't until 9/11 that they took it seriously. You can't go to war without Congesses approval!

Clinton went to war with Iraq on Dec. 16, 1998, look it up. The Republican Congresses signed into law the "Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998", again look it up, it was passed in the beginning of that year. Clinton did not take it seriously until the END of the year when Lewinsky refused to lie for the bastard and the UN inspectors left in disgust. Even then, Clinton only pretended to do the right thing with his 3 month "war". Bush's only mistake was beliving Democrats could be honest about themselves

The reason he was attacking Americans in the first place is because of the stupid sanctions we put to his country. Look at how many Iraqis died because of the American sanctions. And we expect Iraq to give us their OIL? Saddam did have chemical weapons and more. But through the efforts of the UN weapons inspectors adn world pressure, Saddam got rid of those weapons before the US attack. Read proud Gulf War vet and UN weapon inspector Republican Scott Ritter's account of the process of Iraq getting rid of WMD. He toured the country during the year before the US attacked Iraq, giving speeches that the Bush administration was lying and Americans would only be at risk if they attacked Iraq.

Sorry pmj6, but Ritter actually said Iraq was still a threat with WMD in 2000. He only changed his story after Saddam Hussein and others gave him $400,000 to change his story and write a book.
