  • hmmmmm... you'd need to implement some programming to interpret your control input to make it truly user-friendly. But it could be done! Radio Shack currently makes an omni bot you could use as a model.

of course, the omni wheels are sold by the pair and motors are only about 20 bucks. I highly recommend the investment :-)

  • I have a vex but no omnibot wheels are they worth it to buy them?

  • Short answer is, depends on your application. Omni bots are feasible without them; for this one i removed the tires from some large size wheels I had lying around. It worked okay. I now have 4 omnis and they are an improvement (obviously) in this situation. If you put on a pair on the back of a 4wd robot it can make turning a whole lot easier also.

Keep in mind they come in 2 sizes... had I had some foresight I would have gotten the big ones; makes getting over doorjambs easier!

    Good luck

  • what about 3 because i only have 3 motors

  • where u got omni wheels suppy ya?

  • They occasionally pop up on eBay, or you can buy them along with all other Vex parts at vexlabs(dot)com.

  • it works better with four omni wheels.

omnis come in handy, i had a robot whose wheels were really spread out and it wouldn't turn without omnis. i uploaded a video of it
