This song makes me sentimental (more than usual). My grandparents emigrated in the 1920s from Co. Derry and Mayo. My grandmother was sponsored by her cousin and arrived through Ellis Island. She sailed from the sweet shores of Cobh. My grandfather missed the lottery and had to sail from the North to Nova Scotia with just 20 schilling left in his pocket.
