Thanks a lot. I locked myself out of windows xp pro, by somehow deactivating my user account, and the windows build in administrator had a password. I reactivated my account and was even able to make the guest account member of administrators. You saved my ass, and fuck all those videos that say they work with admin but don't.

Well theres 2 problems with this -

1: If the Computer your working on has a password protected BIOS (Meaning you cant tell it to Boot from CD Drive)

2: Your on a Netbook which has no CD Drive ( Can be solved with a flash drive, unless you run into the BIOS Problem)

Although this video is a good walkthrough for home computer and laptops that no one had BIOS locks put on.

The problem is that as a limited user you are not able to download anything, and you can not run any programs without knowing the password of the Administrator.

That way of fixing it is bad because if you become the administrator and you install stuff then when you use system restore you get jipped out of all the programs you installed so what you should do is use system restore but when your back to standard user you should activate the administrator backup account on both vista and xp and install from there then disable that account so then you have programs and are not really much admin though you can use that way which is better

this is the simplest way turn the computer off, press F8 repeatedly then a menu screen will pop up choose SAFE MODE and then log on the administrator's account and you can do the rest

yea i couldnt work it out, in the end i pressed F8 when i started up the comp to bring up a set-up menu type thing then i entered safe mode which loaded up a windows account with admin priviliges (i think its a hidden account in case u lock yourself out or summin) and from there i went to user accounts then i could edit, delete, create and change from limited to admin. so much easier!! if anyone needs help with with id be glad to help. thanks for the help tho 'pleasedontsneeze'
