I think i read this Scratch Mag. Dre's Been studying music therory for the last few years. Storch did do most of the keyboard/piano work on 2001 and alot of Dr. dre productions in the last 10 years.

timbaland, RZA, neptunes, they almost ONLY use keyboards or samplers (like ASR-10, MPC60, MPC3000,..) why? because it does sound differnet than plugins do (except for maybe the UAD-2 card with moog-imitations..)

and so do the "old school" producers. I bet they only use a plugin for sounds when they're siiting on a plane with a laptop and writing/making their tracks or when they find a sound on there that they can't recreate in their hardware synths.
