Evolution has nothing to do with it. Nobody who is intellectually honest would deny evolution.
You can prove to yourself that there is something akin to God. This can be done via various methods. These are experimental methods and you can prove it for yourself. Buddhism is an example.

People on ww2 told jokes to theyr enemies all the time , such as screaming over the battlefield things about enemy :P A common german joke would be "hey tommy , i will teach your leader (churchil) where to put hes sigars :P" Form of "humor" was writing all sorts of messages on shells and bombs , like "gift from uncle sam" etc...
