They don't mention on this commercial what happens when Dolly Surprise's arm gets stuck in the "up" position. The child gets bored with it and colors her face with a marker.

"Is it just me, or did we just randomly break into song and dance in public back in the 80's? I just don't remember doing that, but maybe I did..."
Spontaneous singing sounds like fun. If the Fraggles could do it...XD
"Yeah, I LOVE corn pops too but I don;t see them every where I freaking go! That, my friends, is an addiction."
No different than the Rabbit's love for Trix, The "Kid" & "girlfriend" Sue being similar to Popeye with Cheerios, or the kids at the Honeycomb Hideout.
"Why would an animal disguise itself as another animal to escape a pet shop? Wouldn't it make more sense to dress up like a human being?"
No. The cafs' purpose was to get adopted, but since most owners picked other animals over them, leaving them alone and unloved, they took drastic measures to get the homes they wanted so badly. They were so popular, in fact, that besides the dolls, they also had a Story-On-Tape.
I remember all the commercials. I remember the tang commercial begged my mom and dad to get it for me they did and after that it tasted horrible LOL Commercials aren't like they used to be. I miss those days. Cartoons were your life back then. I miss the 80s.
@ikthos77: No duh. This was the 80's, when the War on Drugs--funny that, considering commercials like the "Poppin in My Head" Corn Pops or "Wacky Wild Kool-aid Style" Kool-aid (Oh Yeah!)--was more important. The mega TOON crossover, Cartoon-All-Stars to the Rescue, was living (or rather, animated) proof.
Oh my God! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The Campbell's commercial @3:55 was something I did when I was like 6-7. I haven't seen this in SOOOO long. Thank you for this!
XDD Does anyone remember when they had the Berry Bears with the Purple Unicorn, and the Shark Bites had the white Great Whites?? XDD Reminds me of 4th grade!
Hah wow. It's weird to see images and things you know you've seen before but you forgot about because you were a little kid. Brings back memories in a strange way. Love it!!!
HAHA I was 4 when these commercials aired but I still remember some of them. The Garfield & Friends one.. I had the Muppet Babies Mrs. Piggy toy from mc. Donalds. I also remember the M&Ms one and the light brown M&M's were my favourite haha.
I think my sister had Dolly Suprise... it wasn't a very fun toy hahaha.
Thanks to the Purr-Tenders commercial, I finally was able to remember what those Burger King toys were that I got as a kid - the Purr-Tenders Sockems! I was going to go crazy with that!
dude I completely forgot about the " Furr-tenders" however I really remember the crazy tang lips...lol this is still awesome. God Bless and thanks for Posting
I really don't understand the concept behind "pretenders". Why would an animal disguise itself as another animal to escape a pet shop? Wouldn't it make more sense to dress up like a human being?
I remember all these commercials. It reallt takes me back. I wish I was 14 again, life was so easy and fun. Yes I was 14 in 88 and I loved Saturday Morning Cartoons.
I miss those fruit corners fruit snacks. I also miss Garfield fruit roll ups. Does anyone still have that TMNT 2 The Secret of the Ooze flipbook that came with the Garfield fruit roll ups? Jello Gelatin Pops were also fucking awesome. Fruit Wrinkles raisin shaped fruit snacks were also fucking great.
You know, I'm not one of those 20somethings who's always leaving comments on these videos saying "Man, things were so pure and innocent back then," but in the case of kids' commercials, I have to say it's true. These commercials are talking to a kid demographic that was far less savvy and irony-drenched than the kids of today. It's a pretty dramatic change.
I'm not sure if it's the kids of the 00's that are different, or if adults' PERCEPTION of kids is different. Maybe a little of both.
@Marbles471 i think all adults are envious of youth and it irritates a lot of (immature) parents so they try and force their kids to be jaded like them. or maybe they think people are impressed with how 'witty' and 'ironic' their 'mature' kids are. I don't think I've heard a parent bad mouth their child in a decade or more. Maybe they're afraid someone will record and report them. It's a very suspicious world today... well be able to see in 10-20 years, I suppose...

For 20 year old commercials, they don't seem to look *that* old.
Not nearly as jarring as watching something from the '70s twenty years later in the '90s.
