  • "Just sing along"

    Haha yeah. Good luck.

  • There needs to be more people like this on earth. I got the chance to talk to him after a show, He is one of the nicest people i have ever talked to

  • "just sing along and dance along to this one"

  • He's actually from Springfield, Missouri. At least, he grew up there. He just returned to us last night. What an AMAZING show.

  • he is poetry, this is real poetry

  • This is amazing.

  • Thank you for this.

  • Holy shit he was fat!

  • whoever says listener is gay or bad or anything like that, your simple and ignorant, he is a brilliant lyricist

  • One guy is a demon who is jealous that this song wasn't written about him...

  • i dont understand why people compare dan smith and aaron weiss from mewithoutYou. thats like comparing led zepellin and pantera.

  • How could anyone dislike this? Listen to what he is saying, it is beautiful.

  • thank you for capturing this moment

  • 'Memorabilia I like to call it, not merch, it's memorabilia of our time together'.

This is why he is amazing.

  • i saw this guy lastnight with the band the chariot at camden underworld was fuckin amazing.

  • @NoGutsNoGloryRawwr same! he was awesome, cept while he was on some prick jacked my fone!

  • @flythisformeuk I bet it was the same prick who disliked this video.

  • i mean the audio from the video :P

  • i need the audio from this song, the live version is soo much better, the vibe.

  • did he take the line 'if you can't compose yourself it's best to compose a poem' from a bright eyes song?

  • @Oversex how do you know? is it a proverb?

  • @manholoblahnik Is it entirely impossible for two different people to come up with the same idea completely independent of each other? Because I seriously doubt Dan Smith listens to Bright Eyes (having met the man and opening for Listener at their last show of their last tour). The fact is that Dan Smith is brilliant, and it's perfectly plausible that he came up with that brilliant line on his own, without "stealing" it, or "borrowing" it from Conor Oberst. Archetypes exist.

  • @Oversex of course he's brilliant, i wasn't trying to implement anything else, i just couldn't believe the two of them used the exact same words, all i'm saying is that one of them might have heard/seen lyrics of the other, i did not say one was stealing them, i just wanted to know, if anyone knew anything about it cause it didn't seem like a coincidence to me, it could have been a line in some movie.

  • @manholoblahnik This is most silly reductivist comment possible on something like this. I read your follow up, but still... if you listen for that, or even allow yourself to fall into that trap, you miss the point. Not like I know sh*+ about the band, but I feel the emotion and let it carry what I hear, as opposed to quantify and qualify the oblique reference that may or may not be. PS. I long for paragraph breaks in these comments.

  • this dude is fucking crazy talented!!!!! even if he does look like a pedo, he is crazy good!!!!!!! thats hard to say for many musicians nowadays

  • Fuck, this guy is talented. So talented.

  • Fantastic

  • listen to Deepspace5 (dan smiths hiphop side)

  • This dude is in one of The Chariots songs and god its good.

  • i wish there was an album version of this. the one on the album is just acapella

  • @lpfreak1708 There is. Look on itunes. Type in Listener, go under songs, and it should be under the album welcome to struggleville or something like that. It's sick.

  • Genius, long live listener

  • One of the greatest artists of our time.

    Long Live Listener.

  • @parlanewastaken this is why we all need to help any and all indie and diy musicians out there!

  • Goosebumps and tears......

    Thank God for true music.

  • sounds so much like aaron weiss (mewithoutYou)

  • @lespaulnasty31 haha idunno about that but it is definitely one of those "if you like aaron weiss, you will probably like Listener" situations

  • brilliant - i just found this artist . i suppose that´s where u end up when u search for true music and musicians . ty

  • I tried finding his stuff on itunes, and it didnt have a version that sounded like this. It was just his voice. Don't get me wrong, the words are amazing, but there was something about the track that he rapped over that made the whole thing flow seamlessly...

  • this is reeeaally cool ;)

  • pure beauty

  • this guys amazing

  • I bet this guy is a huge influence on Say Anything

  • I saw this guy (and heard him) in The Chariot song David De La Hoz... it was amazing

  • @chobitz7 thats the same way i landed here ;)

  • @chobitz7

    Yeah, same here.

  • It sickens me all the fake "musicians" who make millions, using auto tune, having people writing songs for them, masses of money for marketing. And then there is Dan Smith an actual genius who gets nothing. But I can guarantee you he is happier than any of these fakers.

  • @parlanewastaken Bro.... Too fucking true. I like your synopsis. First time I heard a 'Listener' song, I could feel the passion in my bones. Unlike the so called artists that do make millions, no passion what so ever.

  • He's like a hybrid of Aaron Weiss of Mewithoutyou and Craig Finn from The Hold Steady: amazing lyrics that paints beautiful pictures and an amazing delivery for them. Completely amazing.

  • The first time I saw Listener, I was like wtf? I'll never forget how he was wearing brown sweatpants with black shoes and kept rocking back and forth. But halfway through the first song I was crying and I've been obsessed ever since. Such a great musician and a true poet. <3

  • @CrimeKisses

    Which song made you cry?

  • @bastlake I think Death by a Shotgun but then I Have Nothing But Attention When I Scream definitely did. That was on the Return to Struggleville tour, like three years ago now, I think. Beautiful.

  • awkward enthusiasm.

    that's perfect.

  • i love this :)

  • listen to the song "F-Words"...listen to listener's verse...dude is sick...he kills it

  • @TwiztidBlak

  • @TwiztidBlak Where can I find the song?
