It may sound similar to American country and bluegrass music, but keep in mind that alot early American folk singers were Irish and Scottish immigrants. So it could be fair to say that country music was influenced by Celtic music. Also, do not bash the Hillbilly, as much as I might not like rednecks, I find myself getting along with "rednecks" and simpler country folk much better than stuck up arrogant city folk.
