  • Man that last alien goes hard as a motherfucker.

  • "West..apparently.." Lol

  • wow, you actually bitch about the controller when all you do is go back and forth and hit a button. I'm sorry, but I've watched many of your reviews and can no longer take any of them serious, especially since I also own all of these games myself. I hope nobody is turned off watching these videos, the 5200 is a great system and HONESTLY, the controller is not nearly as bad as this guy makes it out to be.

  • I work in the united states Earth protection society,

and yes, we have leather seats when we are simulating :)

    -jokes

  • im pretty sure you can select game variations using the number pad!

  • @Bp323 He did say that there are 12 game variations. That's still a good amount for replay value. :)

  • The thing that made Space Invaders for the Atari 2600 so great is that the arcade version was so basic (in terms of its graphics, sound, and controls) that the 2600 did a damned good job of recreating it. As a result, more processing power does not add much and so the 2600 version is actually better than the 5200 version as is, of course, Mark's point in this review.

  • "All right! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape, let's rock!"

  • So much better then the 2600 vERSION.

    The arcade version>the 2600

  • I say they are coming from the EAST!

  • I wonder if it works with the 5200 trak-ball.

  • You should review Space Invaders on the Atari 7800.

  • Actually, they're Mexicans coming from the south. Notice how effectively the wall barriers work....just like real life

  • @MrMogwa STFU cracker, go have sex with your cousins, racist dick.

  • The graphics look very smooth and cool!

  • looks easier than on the 2600. No way you get a second shot at the mother ship!

  • I love Space Invaders for the Atari 2600, alot of fun! Are there any other games that are like this?

  • Love how the aliens look different and keep on changing as the levels go on.

  • The atari 5200 controller has not an anallog stick, but an anal logging stick (O,O')

  • @TheDutchGame

    Ewwwww.....:P

  • !SPACE INVADERS!

  • Man this brings back so many memories. My friend had PAC-MAN, Missile Command, and Space Invaders. Friday nights, non-stop play. I go upstairs and play 5200, then he and his brothers would come down stairs to play my Atari gemini (2600)

  • Use the TRACKBALL. geze, stop the Atari bashng.

  • I WANT THIS MAN TO BE MY UNCLE!

  • fall asleep <D

  • Does anyone know the atari game , that if you shoot one certain alien your game is over? and the atari games plays music but if you shoot one certain alien the game is done

  • Did they not test the controller before-hand?

  • Can you play ATARI 2600 and 5200 games on ATARI 7800

  • You can only play ATARI 2600 games on an ATARI 7800. To play 5200 games, you need to buy a 5200. You can even play 2600 games on a Colecovision with the COLECOVISION EXPANSION MODULE 1.

  • There WAS a planned 5200 expansion module for the 7800, but like all the other add-ons, when the Tramiels took over, that was the end of that.

  • @209938488 No. 520 only on 5200. 7800 will play 2600 games

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • @209938488 The point of the 7800 is it's 2 systems in 1. It plays 2600 games and 7800 games. NOT 5200 games. 5200 games are way bigger and has no place to go into a 7800.

  • YEAH! best space game ever.

  • love the purple dancing sunglasses lolz 4:20

  • lol I could just watch him play Space Invaders for ages lol!

  • What kind of fool would even consider removing invisible aliens.

  • The most interesting part is the controller works. SEriously neat video though.

  • @jimbox114 Use the trackball man.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • On the 2600 box art, i mean. :3

  • I love the box art. :D One of the best Atari box arts around.

  • "never remove invisible aliens you imediately end up on my shit list" lol

  • @PERRIGOSaDICK Who needs 800 million variations? 3-5 is the most you need. 2600 was better but he didn't mention why 5200 version sucks. Auto fire on, aliens look dumb and it's really a different version of SI

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • "they could be space ghosts."

I see what you did there

  • at least u got the joystick to work! lol

  • space invaders xtreme is awesome for the psp! 8D

    go space invaders!

  • or ds.. and on xbox live arcade it's awesome too.

I actually own it on DS and XBLA :D

  • well yeah, but im just familiar with the psp

  • cool

  • you are totally byass when it comes to the 2600 lol u must care too much for the 5200

  • @VIRGOLEGACY All gaming systems have good things about them. No need to bash.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • i wasnt bashing any system i just felt like this guy is bias when it comes to the 2600 lol i would liek to have any atari system to have in my collection

  • @VIRGOLEGACY the 2600's are just one of those things you just don't fuck with like the mega drive II they broke easy but still better than most console

  • I loved this game as a kid but this is probably the only game from that period that I can't stand to play. Space invaders Xtreme ROCKS though.

  • they look like kirby

  • You should try Space Invaders Extreme for the DS or XBLA. Great game.

  • lol that last surviving invader is one son of a bitch!

  • lol

  • Again, another nice review!

  • 'They came from west' xD

So they have to be capitalistic dogs and the player is a soviet soldier :D ;)

  • No, they came from Russia, though the Pacific Ocean.

  • Stop blaming Russia! They had it hard enough in Command and Conquer where people thought they were the badguys, what you didn't see was they didn't get Space Invaders and they were just coming over to get a few copies for their comrades.

  • ...

    They had Tetris.

  • dude it's a effing joke

  • Dude, as was mine. :U

  • @Snotnarok The aliens are really devils. Look at the side of a real arcade game. Listen to the Uncle Vic song on space invaders and he mentions devils.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • Nothing can top the original arcade of Space Invaders. Absolute Classic.

  • NEVER REMOVE INVISIBLE ALIENS!

    lol

    priceless

  • When all the kids on the block had the 2600, I had an apple 2, it actually caused fights. My mom wanted to get rid of it because I spent too much time playing and trading pirated games on the source.

  • I had the 2600 version of space invaders, and just in terms of graphics the 5200 version is better.

  • keep the memories rolling, love how the controller gets in the road of left and right lol

  • i got it for my 2600

  • They would be Space Ghosts! haha

  • SPACE GHOST COAST TO COAST LOL

  • I'd still go with the arcade original. You can't beat a classic.

  • Deep leather seats. That's awesome, but If they are both just sitting there using the tank and one of them doesn't have to be a loader, then I would prefer truck style bench seating so you can put more things up front with you. Also, I think it would make high-fiving the other guy easier after you finish each wave of invaders.

  • Love the game.

If you have never played this, you can't consider yourself a gamer.

  • Best be saying that about 50% of gamers that havent played it dude, and that number is slowly rising :P

  • Oh well.

  • Your joking right I thought that every gamer old and young has played space invaders.Thats scary that a classic game is being forgotten.

  • People are too busy worrying about Call of Duty. >.>;

This is why I'm reluctant to get a console past PS2 (Excluding DS) all the crap that gets released.... Arcade would be cool, but even then... Meh.

Retro games would only become cool if some fad-crap implemented it. I love people who look at the King of Kong weird, when they call themselves Final Fantasy fans solely based on the fact tehy've played Kingdom effing hearts or seen advent children.

    Most "gamers" can't identify a 2600 even...

  • That's sad, I'd know an Atari 2600 if I saw one.

  • Well I own a 360 but still you have a point about most modern gamers these days and it is pretty sad seing all these awesome classic games disappering from gamers memories very slowly.

  • There needs to be more collections or anthologies, or.... Like, with the crap Test Drive on PS2, the loading screens were playable pong, do something like that.

  • What if you weren't born when this came out?

  • Still no excuse anyway .

Great game so it is worth anybody's time to play it.

  • The game's come out on pretty much every console ever made. Everyone who's ever played a game has had plenty of chances to play it, but most wouldn't give this a passing glance if something else is on the shelf. It's kind of sad, really.

  • I was born in 1991, and I still play this and others. XD

  • @EEQUALSIDONTCARE SI made video games. Without it, there would be any games today

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • My sis used to be a huge fan of Space Invaders, although I was born after the Video game crash of 1983,which might explain why my sister never really became a gamer like me.

  • i use to play this game all night when i was a kid

  • Great review! Back in the day, I assumed the 5200 was better. But from what I hear, the controllers weren't worth a crap. What a shame :( Who ever designed them should be beat with a stick!

  • i used to enjoy playing this on the arcades sum time ago

  • I have to say, the animations on the aliens, as specially the ghosts, is very nice.

  • they come from the west!

    hehe!

  • "They would be...Space Ghosts."

Now why hasn't there been a Space Ghost video game?

  • what capture software do u use?

  • how can you use capture software on an atari 5200 or even a tv screen???

  • maybe with a tv-card for pc.. i think

  • Hook the the atari to a VCR or dvd recorder and hit record when playing. Then transfer to computer for editing.

  • @WithTheDmeister i record to dvd for my reviews then rip into the computer (as I don't have a composite capture card).

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • some one want to explain why i got a thunbs down for that? wtf

  • 100th rating

  • He's got a brand new tank,

    Looks like a laser tank.

    It's got leather seats.

It's got a CD Player, player, player, player....

  • Space Ghosts, they invade from coast to coast.

  • @yo4279 LOL. Love robot chicken and harvey birdman

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • hey bro i have the midway SPACE INVADERS

  • Taito made some of the best games. I have recently become addicted to "Elevator Action"

  • Elevator Action is awesome.... I need to break that one out.

  • Wait...Theres a console version of Elevator Action? I have always played in the arcade or on an emulator.

  • There was a version for the Atari 2600, but it wasn't finished before Tramiel stopped all console releases. You can get the prototype ROM over at AtariAge.

  • There's an NES version.

  • I just played that version. Oh my it's terrible. Who would have thought there would be a bad frame rate on the NES.

  • There's a version for the NES, although I'm not sure if it was released in the U.S.A.

  • in the 2600 missile command it had a comic book with it.

  • i played space invaders on the 2600 all the time when iw as a kid i loved it.

  • The crap graphics are almost cool. When Xbox updated Bionic Commando and all the other classic games . . it was OK, but there was something just WRONG about it. I'd much rather play the original classic, than a revamped glossy version.

  • Cool!

  • Man if I had a 5200 and a lot of games, I might be up later playing them than I am on Xbox 360. I still can't figure out what it is about the simplistic classic games that are so good and fun.

  • @hootyhaha Today it takes 2 weeks to play a game an 5 hours to set up. The golden age of arcade games could be played without instructions and in 5-10 mins.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • Space Invaders Extreme on the DS has paddle control thru the Advance slot, JOY!!!

  • whats the name of the song in the intro!?

  • dose any know if and where i can get this on my NOKIA N-GAGE?

  • the atari 2600 was the best arcade style console in it's era till the release of the genesis.

  • the 2600 version was based on the original arcade version.where as the 5200 was not.

  • did the arcade version have invisible aliens or just the 2600 version? i don't remember(seeing) invisible aliens in the arcade.

  • Of course you didn't see them, they were invisible! (lololololol)

But jokes aside, I think it was an added feature to the 2600 version.

  • just the atari 2600 version.

  • it was an optional feature to crank up the difeculty level.

  • Most 2600 games came with a variety of options. As he mentioned, Space Invaders had 100 variants. Most games, as he also alluded to, had an "invisible" variant where enemies or player "characters" were invisible(invisible Combat was interesting). Another nice feature was a lot of 2 player games allowed 2 players to play at once - I think SI had a 2 player variant where both were on the screen cooperatively instead of taking turns. 2600 was good for that.

  • @FAKEBC just 2600 version. There were tons of sequals in the arcade

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • I was just playing Galaga on Sega Dreamcast for the last 2 hours (off Namco Museum) It reminds me of this game. Galaga = Win

  • Sweet Nice review! I have it on the 2600 not this version! this one looks better

  • @Rleeson85 2600 is better is every way

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • Anyone played Space Raiders? It is a spinoff of this for the Gamecube. It is 3d, and it is just a back and forth side scroll, you play a character with a pistol. and you shoot aliens.

  • Yeah, I remember playing it. I be it to.

  • Great vid :) i have jsut been getting into classic arcade games emualted on pc. and your reviews are realy helpfull :D

  • Definitely check out Space Aliens if you ever hit Minnesota or North Dakota aka the Middle of Nowhere.

  • omg more space invaders.

  • Classic game no matter what console you play it on. I have this game on the Taito legends compilation on the PS2.

  • Ah, I read the title wrong. I thought it said 2600. The 2600 version is my favourite.

  • a 5200 that atcually works!?!

run for your life! its the apocalypse!

  • My favourite version of Space Invaders aside from the arcade version.

  • this is the kind of game i would like on my cellphone...lol...then i'd get bored....

  • i got my friend Matt addicted to this. he plays it in comp. class all the time. FTW!

  • had to review it didnt you :P

  • 1:36 xD they removed invisible aliens , NEVER remove invisible aliens, you immediately end up on my %$@# list"

  • space invaders is great

  • I LOVE CGR

  • COOL

  • I love that game I grow up with it

  • omg classic

  • maybe not first but best

  • OR NOT.

  • more like fail!

  • Hells yeah!

    Best old game ever.

  • Awesome
