  • Its the best song in the world.

  • tears in my eyes...

  • Is this song about the joy of life or the sadness of death? my favourite music video ever, and i hope everyone who watches this gets the same feeling i do. Personaly its a happy song for me, enjoy.

  • buy the album, go somewhere quiet, crank up the headphones, listen to all 8 tracks straight through and I promise you will feel like you were in heaven for 60 min.

  • this is true music,

that isn't like all the other junk,

it actually has that umph .

ya noe ? like it's just music from the heart..

    god bless.

  • wow!

  • When i first saw Sigur Ros clips I wanted to....

  • weakness embodied

  • This song describes the word ''Melancholy'' so well.

  • This song brings back painful memories of when I was flying on an airplane and the plane plunged to everyone's sure death, and then I just whipped it out and started beating it which lead to everyone else on the plane whipping it out and they started beating it too. So here we are moments away from our certain deaths and everyone's beating it but then the plane kicks back in and we land safely. No one ever spoke about it since.

  • cb9603: yes I remember that...then all the people on the ground felt your fear and pain and just whipped it out a gave a beat it ceremony for your whipped it out bravery.......

NO one ever spoke about it since.

  • You forgot the part about how we all put our respective pieces away....so did you come or what?

  • O_O

  • wtf?

  • watching this video gives me knots in my stomach, and makes me want to pour out little thing inside of me. it's that powerful

  • I love you all.

  • absolutly beautiful piece of music...

  • Those last thirty seconds are devastating.

  • Pure beauty

  • no words.

i'm not even going to try.

  • this might be a video into the future. so sad and at the sometime beautiful. because no matter how much we destroy ourselves children will always be children

  • No comments for 3 weeks?

    fix'd

  • This may be the scariest, most horrifyingly beautiful thing i've ever had the pleasure to listen to/watch.

  • i want this to be my theme song haha

  • funeral music lol

  • This band is one of the few I can tolerate in the morning...when I have to wake up and put back on my silly man-suit and leave the endless sea of peaceful sleep. Helps me prepare for the world ahead, its silly concerns, its silly race.

  • i like.

  • Beautiful!

  • me too. always makes me tearful, had not seen the vid till today, powerful music, powerful imigary. beautiful!

  • i love this song. made me cry first time heard it and has made me cry every time since. Beautifully made music

  • i live in america and ilove them! all their songs are amazing. this one in particular makes me cry everytime i hear it!

  • Absolute perfection!

  • How do they make this music, have heard a lot of this ambient trance stuff, and if anyone knows which programs or methods are used please leave me a message

  • This is not even remotely close to ambient "trance" (which is not trance at all).

Sigur Ros is considered a rock band for the most part. And it's pretty much impossible to call their music any one genre. It resembles film scores, more than anything.

  • i really wish sigur ros was more of an ispiration to other people in america

i try to show my friends the beauty of sigur ros but they just dont get it

really wish more people knew about this band

  • Agree.

From here Mexico. The music is breath-taking :)

  • yep we americans with taste and compassion are fighting an uphill battle mate

too much degradation. i feel too much despair for our society. I am too dissillusioned to be a part of it.

Then something comes along once in awhile and allows me to feel a whisper of a wind accross my face. This music which is that simple beauty for me shows me the hope that despair wrenches from me. Thank you Sigur Ros.

ha i shouldn't write when listening to good emotional music .. at least not for public use.

  • I too have felt that battle. Well said. I love writing to very moving music, it helps evoke the essence of me...perhaps the truth inside can escape the ego/fear that dwells within. Hard to admit that ego part, I have made great effort to divorce myself from it. But I digress, this is sublime music. It moves me to some sort of change...to some sort of hope. Afraid as I am for that bubble to burst. Damn this corporate driven world I live in, its so fuckin' backwards.

  • It is great to feel the vibrations beautifully course through me to my fingertips and take on a life of their own. Well said to you as well. It is a fragile path we walk; dependent on too many. Piling onto the middle and lower class as they stumble forwards and backwards in no direction. How long till we fall? We have all lost our god-given ability to think and live for ourselves. when we allow something to control an aspect of our lives (even in our minds) it truly owns us.

  • Indeed. We live such a quantified, manufactured existence. Constant bombardment by adverts ensures we will continue the cycle as consumers and fuel this terrible machine. We conform and forget ourselves all in the name of something that has no inherent value, just the one we gave it. That, to me, is the worst. For if one can do such a terrible thing to oneself....what else can we do to our brothers and sisters in our inevitable march towards apathy.

  • Once you compromise one value, one ideal, it is far to easy to do it the next time. We cannot win this game playing by the rules laid out. But, it feels like if you try to forge your own path, debt, the big NO, and lack start to swarm in. I have realized that once you start to glimpse this 'Big Picture'...how silly all this is, how defeating, well, its hard to not see it in every aspect of my day. I want to scream, and lash out, burn this system down. I don't know. We are worth so much more.

  • ive just published your conversation in a book.

    LOL

  • Heh heh....lol.

  • what do you write?

    if i may ask?

  • Beautiful.

  • magic

  • this made me cry the first time i experienced it

  • 와~ 유! 착한 Sigur Ros! gooood!

  • this is very nice

  • great video! great music.. sigur ros is amazing

  • I like the other video better

  • i dance to this song almost every friday at my modern class. my teacher, ashley, is such an inspiration. she always says the right things that inspires my class and I to excel into different zones in our body and learn to let go. and with this music playing in the background, it's perfect. lastly, this song is just so addicting, i don't think someone CAN'T like it. Don't watch the video, just listen to the music. So much comes out if it. use your ears, not your eyes.

  • geat...

  • great!!!

  • dystopia

  • i remember i cried the first time i saw it!!

  • I just cried

  • good grief this video gives me the creeps

  • Stunning. Massive attack meets the Cocteau twins. Video is simply beautiful.

  • this song is so powerful this band has so much to offer it just cant get it all out there

  • I dont understand how that boy was playing with his friend and all of a sudden just falls to the ground.

  • its called nuclear fallout

  • It's a girl, and her gas mask came loose.

  • I cry everytime I watch this. It's so sad to think that this is an actual possibility. And for those kids to not even be able to breathe oxygen from he air and all that. I can't even put it into words but it's just so sad!

  • the joy and sadness in this song make it somethink awe inspiring and something i will enjoy watching time and time again. This is my favourite music video over if not favourite piece of film. The Best for a good reason.

  • This video means so much to me, I can't believe the way it's interpreted. Gives true meaning to the words life and death. I absolutely love this depiction of their song. It puts me in awe.

  • what is it saying? i mean what are the words/ what is this about? thanks for any help

  • It's not in icelandic, it has no meaning, the singer invented a language so you can interpret it like you want..

  • I think thats what makes like song so great. you can interpret words according to your moods. I have friends who think this is a happy all be it mellow song. I say its a sad song.

  • well he uses some icelandic words but leaves out the most important parts and makes them up. so there is storyline but you decide how you want to end and feel. they give you a peice of paper, we all become the artists

  • Its a form of Gibberish known in the west as Hopelandic. Means what you want it to, that is Sigur Ros is awesome.

  • it´s in Vonlenska also known as Hopelandic. It was invented by the singer Jónsi.

  • I thing with that music we must find something positiv... :( i now that's hard becouse its so FUCKING SAD SOnG!!!!!!!!!!! But ... have something inside very :)

  • Sehr schönes Lied!

  • This song was in a Swedish television commercial.. Can't remember which?!...

  • damm snowman!

  • 涙ちょちょぎれる

  • STFU. Enjoy the music.

  • yeah baby fallout men see the idea of snowmen is dangerous

  • tears are falling down from my eyes..

  • could someone tell me what this video's about? the girl dies b/c she doesnt have a gas mask on? why do the children put the gas masks on to go out to play?

  • It's tragic beauty; something that's difficult for me to find these days.

  • Watching the girl at the end makes me sob.

  • i love love love this song. it's so beautiful. perfect.

  • omg amazing song, its just briliant!

  • I first heard this song in Chicago...I've since come to Europe (and lost my music collection in the process...quite a loss, since this album must now be replaced!) My thanks for posting this! It's made my week!

  • the song ia amazing but what hit me was the video. it haunts me. i think it really has some meaning behind it.

  • 89576 apparantley is a pole smoker since all he thinx about is callin gother people gay..he must have penis on the mind and plays with little boy's privates..must be a priest and has no taste in music..Sigur Ros rules...

  • amazing, I'm in love with Sigur Ros

  • Seen them once and will see them again in August(Australia)'cant wait. As for 89576s' comment "too gay", i believe he/she speaks for themselves.....lol :)

  • very moving song...

  • don't hate on the Ros dude!!!!!!!!!!

  • i read somewhere that Hopelandish consists of only 11 syllables (but i think it's closer to 20)

    but what can i say?

i've seen Sigur Ros live twice and pretty much my entire reason for living is to see them again

i consider myself blessed and lucky ( hello, 10,000 Maniacs) to be alive to hear this

  • THEY ARE COMING TO MEXICO!!!

  • is this a soundtrack??

i think i heard it in a movie or program

    ????

    THIS IS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!!

  • SAME! AND I CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT!

hoppipolla was used in planet earth and many other things

  • There are no words for this...it is simply beautiful.

  • If you like this song, the live version is even better... they have 2-3 different ways they do the ending and they're all great. Search it, there are a ton of vids.

  • <3<3<3<3<3

  • they probably will perform on Lowlands! :D

  • Youtube allows since last week to upload High Definition video, so I uploaded all Sigur Rós videos. Click my username to watch!

  • The message of this video ...terrible things can happen when you horse around.

  • You shall no more.. A one-way road.

  • SAUDADES!! :-)

  • :( sad and haunting, but....... beautiful and powerful :)

    I Love SIGUR ROS.

  • this is saddest song in the world

  • thats so true

  • M'agrada. Me gusta. I like it. Beautiful.

  • does anybody have translation of this song?

  • There is no translation. He's not actually speaking in any language. The entire album "()" is made the same way. It's more about using the voice as an instrument than trying to convey a message per se.

  • I see, but do you know, what is the main theme of this beautiful song? :)

  • oooo, i thought it was in icelandic or something

  • the language used on the album has an acutal name.

It Hopelandic. Its just words he makes up to suit the song. :).

  • no actually, if you listen to the () album, you'll find that while all of the "lyrics" are made up, the same "phrases" and consonant/vowel sounds are used throughout. That's because "Hopelandic" (as reviewers have dubbed it) is just a way for Jonsi to write vocal melodies before he writes actual lyrics. There is no literal "language" being used, whether made up or not. It's just that sometimes Jonsi chooses not to make actual lyrics, and chooses to use the vocal melody in the final version.

  • Are the words of the songs "you sigh low, you're so, you sigh low, you're so, alone.." ?

  • It has no lyrics, since it isn't sung in english o icelandic, but you can imagine him singing that, I also do. :)

    (U)

  • apparently it is sung in a "gibberish" language called Hopelandic. most beautiful "gibberish" i have ever heard in my entire life.

  • agreed

  • this is such a beautiful song.. it's undescribable.. is vakka the name of the album? it's so breath-taking 5 stars

  • its on ()

  • No, the "name" of the album is ()

    like ruarcsorensen said.

  • I've tried downloading this song but it doesn't have the powerful, climactic ending like this one has. Is this a different version?

  • its the full version.

  • It's so...are there words to describe beauty such as this? Are there any words to describe the haunting music in which emanates into the room around me? I'm not sure if there is...but I know that my insufficient adjectives would never be able to descibe the emotions I feel when I hear this. All I can do is listen to it again and again and again and again...

  • this is absolutely hands down...the most beautiful thing I've ever heard....

  • There are no words for this...it is simply so...beautiful...

  • One word: Beautiful!!

  • one of tiesto's favorite songs

  • since he told that on television, i got interested in this music, its haunting beautiful

  • tiesto?

  • Sigur ros is the most amazing music I have ever listened to.<333

It's so lovely and heartbreakingly sad at once.

  • vaya la cancion mas bonita del mundo....

  • Watching a Sigur Ros video is always like watching an art film.

  • SIGUR ROS!! they make the most beautiful music i have EVER heard!!!

  • the best band in the world, for sure!!!!! they are always surprising me!!!!

  • The song is dedicated to Orri's daughter Vaka...very intriging and touching song!!

  • omg that video really hit me :(

  • Very moving and deep. A powerful song.

  • man... they r talking about the fucked up situations that the childrens can't go out whitout theyr gas masks and the snow is black... it's about the poluations and our indifference about the planet!

  • nah its about nuclear winter man.

  • i worship heavy metal but i cant explain how bad i love new age music, and i think its greater for me cuz its soooooo piecefull, this band is FUCKIN GREAT!!

  • Very powerful piece. Children find the best in every situation. Definately a song/video for the open minded. Sigur Ros never cease to amaze me with their concepts.

    Brilliant.

  • i don't get it

  • Children will still be able to have fun, even if there is a nuclear winter. that's what i think it means.

  • nuclear winter?

  • The proposed worst-case scenarion in the cold war, that two countries, maybemore, would use nuclear bomb technology so much that the ecosystem would collapse and everything would die.

  • well that made sense

  • what were the gass masks for?:)) thats a good one:))

  • what were the gass masks for

    (good peice)

  • you size low....

  • What can I say.... Simply and beauty....space ....

  • OMG how I love them and the vocalist is so fuckin hot !

  • Absolutely amazing piece.

  • I've heard a lot of people complaining about the Johnny B. being a homosexual. I don't think it matters. I mean the music he creats is just amazing.

  • and blind in one eye ;)

  • it could matter for all i care.. Its not negative its not positive its nothing.. Its like he was heterosexual.

  • I'm sorry, but why are you talking about sexuality...?

    Like who was heterosexual..?

  • actually that was a reply to a comment far back:P but it didn't appear as a replying comment.

  • vaka wn xD

  • i can understand why this video won the best music video on the EMA :)

I'm absolutely in love with this song and my eyes get teary pretty much every time I watch it♥♥

  • i dont really understand the video...

  • Wow, that was a really powerful piece. The song always chilled me out and was a great listen when depressed, and this video goes along so well. It's absolutely wonderful. And being a total metalhead, it's really strange hearing me say these things. But I love this song, band, and video.

  • I take my hat off to you. Why deny yourself such beauty.

  • Floria Sigismondi (sp?) directed this one and some of the others that they do. Sigur Ros directs some of them themselves.

  • does anyone know who directs these?

  • the future ?
