Your locks are still beautiful but I thought the straight one were more becoming of what I am looking for. I've decided to follow your journey for support because some days I want to just continue the coils but on the other hand, once I saw your 10 years locks I really got excited. Also, I am trying to tame them with a side part Because I notice when most people pull them all back their hairline recedes. Any advice that statement ? Thanks for your time and even more for you support in caring a
@shebet747 I do suggest to just leave your dreads alone. Let them do there thing. I have never pulled them back in ponytails a lot but I do wrap them up and began to notice after years of course my hair on the sides were thinning but that may be hereditary as well.
I know what you mean about the heaviness you feel with long locs, As for myself I had to cut off 4 inches off my locs, I started to experience head aches a whole lot, but since I cut those 4inches off, I feel so good with the results. Take Care
@mzladylocks I totally know what you mean I recently cut about 8 inches of the front and 3 inches all around. I feel so much better now. If I had not cut them I would have to keep them up all the time and what fun is that.
@mzmocha318 Thanks so much. I was thinking about letting them go and starting over. Brand New and along comes a comment that changes my mind. Blessingt
You are absoluteky correct about respecting and acknowledging each other locks because I have sisterlocks and I see one of the bosses at my job wearing sisterlocks and we have been striking up conversation everyday. You are a wise sister.
@supervirtuouswoman I wish y'all would show some of these sisters down here (S.A., TX) how to spread some loc love and acknowledgement. The few sisters I have seen with locs had NO love or recognition for a sister with locs. (sigh) That must be nice! I ain't mad'atcha! LOL
Why you inspire me so much to keep going... my locs will be 5 yrs old come june 2 this yr. YaY!! i use Dr. Bonner's organic shampoo. And I put herbal oil and water in it. and i use an ACV rinse afterwards.. and my hair is sooooo healthy and sooooo soft.. GOTTA LOVE IT!!
@Tamarje81 Someone else on youtube uses Dr Bonner's her name is barbaydian271 I want to try it. I actually did a vid on mentioning that have not uploaded it yet. Your hair looks really healthy. Thanks for the comment and sharing the love. Blessings
Congrats on your 11 yr. loc anniversary. My 1 yr loc anniversary is 5 mos away, so I'm looking forward to it. Last year was my year of realization about being completely natural. I did the press & curl for 10 yrs due to the fact that the perm damaged my scalp. I love my locs. I'm not looking back! Thanks for the video
@swright1104 Wow I did not know that perm can damage your scalp omg. It is great you are natural now such an interesting journey and the great thing is you can document it. Blessings
@108locs The perm damaged my scalp so bad that it turned "red." I went to a beautician, & she told me not to put anymore perms in my hair. Which was my journey to going natural, but starting locs was what I really wanted to do but was scared to do it. I finally got up the nerve to do it last year. So I'm happy, & so is my hair!! I noticed the difference, & documenting changes & all. Thanks for your video, & words of encouragement.
I wish a lot more veteran dread heads would show some love. I try to acknowledge my fellow sisters with locs and sometimes they give me the brush off - which I don't understand. These veterans know how "interesting" the process of growing dreads can be and it would be nice if they were a bit more available and personable. In all fairness I do understand that they have places to go and they are probably sick of talking to people about their hair.
@reclaimingself Thanks so much for your comment. What do you mean by veterans are you talking about people who have had dreads for a long time or the people on youtube who are doing videos. I hope that people with dreads are not putting that rude vibe out there because that is not right. My advice ignore them. Real dread heads are conscious, humble, and do not mind sharing knowledge with others as long as they want to learn. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Blessings
@frankydiezel 11 years but I know what you meant lol. I have been to visit the Big Apple a few times I love to visit would not want to live there in the winter months. That snow is ridiculous but I get to rock my fur so thats always a plus. I even saw shorties with fur coats on.
Truer words have never been spoken about the Dread-head Respect... I completely notice the difference... I'm only 9 months in, but I think I am really going to like them a lot. I am appreciating these different stages in my journey... God bless you, and thank you this video!!
Hoteph Queen I have to tell you a GREAT BIG HUGE THANK YOU!!!!! you have been my inspiration I saw you a little over a year ago on youtube rockin your locks and it made me just get up one day and just Do It!! i didnt have the money to fly to the states to let someone sister loc my hair so i got on youtube and saw how to do it and I can gladly say I have now been loced for 1 whole year Christmas day made a YEAR and man sis you just dont know I really thank you cause u helped me through Thanks
@LadyShabazzHijabi That is so awesome. This has to be one of the best testimonies I have heard by far. So glad to know I can help I am smiling from cheek to cheek. Blessings and thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful comment; )
11 years!! That is true patience and dedication for sure. Congratulations Lady!! You are a real inspiration. I appreciate all that you share here with us on YT. Blessings to you :)
Congrats on the journey. Your curls are really nice. I'm locked as well for the second time around. I still enjoy them. My mom used to make the same comment that you did regarding her hair being too heavy. She actually had it thinned out when she was younger. I thought she was exagerating when she told me. I've never had mine that long. I dream that they will be waist length one day.
Let em know about that dread etiquitte. Thats right. Nice hair.
