  • Beautiful song

Ι remember this from my childhood.

Tonis Maroudas recorded it in a 45 rmp disc.

    Even more melancholic...

  • Absolutamente una hermosa melodia y una voz excepcional

  • In ancient times, this beautiful woman should have been a Trojan queen...;-)

  • @stefalbert

A Minoan Queen (from Kriti / Crete) and not Trojan Queen.

Her name indicates that she is from the Island of Kriti located in the South of the Aegean Sea.

  • @JimmyTheGreek2000 Nice tuneful song... Thank you so much for sharing... ♫♫♫♫♫

    Many thanks

  • the name of the song is "i varka gyrise moni" (the boat returned by itself) Η ΒΑΡΚΑ ΓΥΡΙΣΕ ΜΟΝΗ

  • @Kombothekras My father was Greek. He passed away 2 years ago. I always remembered a song he played when we were children. I don't speak Greek but it went "Steega Nee, Steega Nee...Steega Nee, Steega Nee". I think it was from the late 60's, early 70's. Any idea what it was?

  • Excellent rendition of a beautiful song.

  • such a sad song..

  • Greek culture is so much more rich beautiful than the culture of Western Europe. It's too bad Greek women dye their hair blond and red...they are so much more beautiful than North European women!

  • Don't you know that in ancient Greece the major hair colour was... blond !

And for the north European women, you should better open your eyes a bit wider, or maybe travel a bit there, there are plenty of beautiful women.

  • @TruthandJustice101 I can testify to that having just returned from Crete. Proud people, beautiful women (mostly dark haired)...and proud culture..

  • @TruthandJustice101

Well i am greek and i don't have to dye them blonde..

    it's natural! ;)

  • @TruthandJustice101 My friend this is a problem many societies face where "blonde and blue eyed" nordic looks are the beauty standard. Same problem in Latin America. Beautiful women dye their black hair to look more "white" I agree 100%

  • @marimanque

I am natural red head and greek i don't think i have to dye my hair but i agree with you

natural hair are most of the times better

  • Beautiful melody and interpretation!...i would like to know its letter...where i can to find it...thanks!

  • VGOOD just a lot of feeling here thanks

    ^-^

  • People look to Greece and ignore their beauty and richness. Rich in soul and in mind... I hope that one day; we will get back our lost lands!

  • Hrysoula anhkeis stin kathgoria twn poiotikwn tragoudistriwn.Outstanding perfomance of a classic song.

    Greetings from Luxembourg!

  • Is this song available on iTunes? if so what is the name

  • I enjoyed this song. It is a poem by Menelaos Loudemis. It is a very sad poem but the music is outstanding and the performance remarkable. Well done!!

  • this is not a poem by Menelaos Loudemis, it was performed for David Nachmias' documentary IHNILATES about Loudemis. Loudemis used to sing it to his daughter Myrto. The music was writen by Tony Maroudas and the lyrics by Thanos Sofos (still alive and well)

  • I am Syrian and I don't understand a word, but it is beautiful.

    Bravo Hrysoula.

  • That's fine, I am a Sabah Fakhri fan and know no Arabic :-)

This a very sad song actually (and despite Hrysoula): it talks of a fishing boat belonging to a beautiful girl's blond boyfriend ... that, on a stormy night, returned empty and lightless, *orphaned*, to the harbor ... and so the fisherman went to the bottom of the ocean and all hopes drowned in deep water...

  • Thank you so much for the explanation!

There is no words that explain my feelings.

Good song with such human and beautiful words has no borderline and no nationality.

    again thank you aktinotos.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!bravo hrisoula mas.
