esta es mi versión favorita, que manera de interpretar bien los tiempos y la onda de esos años, una banda capital del movimiento, de primer nivel..y grande cipollina!!!
I really can't put into words how envious I am of everyone who was around back then.
I was born in 71. Thanks to YouTube, those who were not there to experience it live can see and hear a lot of what they missed out on. Man, the more I see, the more it seems even more special than I'd previously thought it was.
I always love reading comments on YouTube and in forums etc from people who were there, who give us a greater understanding and impression of the vibe of the times - keep it up :)
wow thanx for sharings this clip man. i have loved this band since 1994 but i feel that i should have been arond in this era, when i see clips this this this it is just amazing,THANK YOU ,IM NOT ALONE!!!!
This version is definitely different from the soundtrack album (especially the guitar solo). BTW, this song is actually a combination of 2 songs -- "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" by Joan Baez, and "St. John's River" by Erik Darling.
This is great to hear. Thanks for the turn on. I didn't see the movie but had the soundtrack record. The Babe I'm Gonna Leave You & Codine from that are also on The Sons Of Mercury QMS CD. These's are different versions but classic QMS hot licks. This the real SF 60's QMS once upon a time in the West.. Gives me chills.
I rememner this movie, it sucked but had a great sound track from Quicksilver Messenger Service, Steve Miller Band, & Mother Earth. I still have the album which was pulled for contract problems,
That was such a good record. I put it on a cassette I still have when cassettes were brand new. The Mother Earth songs are real good & The Steve Miller Band w/ Boz tunes are great. Miller's extended guitar solo on Your Old Lady like the QMS songs is classic SF Ballroom daze.
Are you sure this video is from the movie? The QMS music is not same as the soundtrack LP. Sounds great but different. This QMS live back then was amazing. One of my all-time faves.
The video is from the movie, but Quicksilver Messenger Service used a studio recording on the album soundtract. I really could not tell you if the version with the video is from the movie. The album was pulled from the racks as QMS had a contract with Capitol & the movie soundtract was United Artist.
@OdeToNecrophilia It wasn't so much a movie as just assorted video, the scene with Codine is from that test, you can see the Airplane play the same event in that DVD retrospective fom a few years ago. I wish there was more of the footage out there.
@casadyrocks I've seen Revolution and there isn't a scene with the airplane in it. Just Quicksilver playing Codine in (i wanna say one of the ballrooms? dont know which one thought) a show.
@casadyrocks i have that and that wasn't at the trips festival man. It happened at the Longshoeman's Hall, not the Fillmroe where they are playing on the dvd.
In this rare clip you are the only two songs together Quicksilver contained in the album "Revolution" in 1967 - will also participate in the Steve Miller Band and Mother Earth ....Album Fantastic!
this was written by Erik Darling. Orginally called saint johns river
