  • Variety is important for a freelancer.

    I always recommend to my fellow freebies that they get as much as experience in as many diverse pubs as possible. When I started I wrote for various magazine and newspapers-trade, ethnic, suburban, business, weekly-and got great experience.

    My advice: If you are starting out, get your first clips from small to medium publications THAT PAY. This will get you used to writing for a living.

    This has been a tip from a smartass.
