Their career could have been over in 1982 if Bono had fallen off that goddamn thing.. no safety harness, no nothing, not even someone holding the ladder. Idiotic move for someone who is actually very intelligent and articulate(listen to him talk about politics, the world, music, etc)

That my friend is the behavior of a young guy who's into something, unlike most people (today). It was also a normal behavior at a time that old ladies didn't sue fastfood restaurants for serving too hot coffee and other insane stuff. It's called freedom, freedom to take risks, even inconsiderate ones. Today you're fined if you put yourself at danger. Other times, other mentalities. Don't try to understand however.

I was back-stage at both the Torhout and the Werchter concerts in both 1982 and 1983. The "Double Festival" was the same concert line-up on a Sat. on the west side of Belgium, and then repeat the whole show on Sun. 90 miles away on the east side of the country. This clip was shot on Day-2 at Werchter on 4 July 1982. U2 was an up and coming band and on their "October" tour for this concert. Note: Bono had a wired mic that had to have the cable fed to him as he climbed the stage rigging.
