Did this game have an "ending" to speak of? I know it had some legendarily obtuse puzzles, but I also remember reading somewhere that the game gives no indication about when you've completed it.
@Obscuritory After some researching, it looks like the authors made the game with a competition in mind. In essence, to prevent people from hacking it and going into the final screen, they left the game without an ending.
There supposedly is an ultimate solution to the game which comes in the form of two words. Those words were needed to win the cash prize. Like you said, due to the obtuse puzzles, and also the hints sprinkled throughout, imo, this is one of the hardest adventure games ever.
