One of the first games I ever played and fell in love. I was pleasantly surprised -while the gameplay is not complicated-basically a maze game-the storyline was intricate and the voice actors truly superb. Play them all, they only get better. Simon Templeman is the voice of Kain-my hero. Sparkly vampires need not apply.

@craigbout the person needs to be either stunned, as in wobbling after you hit them, or sleeping. you can suck blood from awake people or dead people.

I'd say games today have progressed immensely in terms of graphics and gameplay, but I'd say they've also made an equal amount of regression in plot and character development - when I was younger, I loved games because of the novelty they had, alongside the gameplay and originality. Legacy of Kain is a cult classic that proves, even to this day, that it became legendary because its plot and character design were vast compared to that of today's games, even if it's graphics weren't opulent.

I remember being so enthralled with the evil, dark nature of this game - for the time, some of it was downright disturbing, lol. The music, ambiance and voicework were off the hook, and the immersion factor was sky high.

I have to say, I often wonder why modern games are struggling to reach the immersion factor of so many of these CD-ROM era games. One of the only characters I've been able to invest myself in in recent years is God Of Wars Kratos - but mostly modern games seem lacking...

I'm playing this through for the first time and I'm very impressed. I wish all games paid this much attention to detail and had talented voice actors. the only way this game could be improved would be better graphics (obviously) and some kind of lock-on targeting system like in the GTA series. it looks goofy when I'm standing next to my enemy and we're both trying to hit each other, unsuccessfully.

I know all that. I just wish there was more from the series that just 5 games. It was such an awesome game. I would say about Eidos creating a new version altogether without the original characters, but then it wouldn't be the same. I remember when I heard about Tony, a friend & I cried my heart out. That was the end of LoK to me, not the end of Defiance :(

The only place you'll find Blood Omen 1, or Soul Reaver 1 is online, or if your very lucky a thrift store.

Blood Omen 2, Soul Reaver 2, and Defiance should be somewhat easier to find in places like Gamestop or also online.

of all the legacy of kain games, this is still my favorite. TBH I prefer these graphics to the more recent games. And the amount of hidden things such as the blood fonts, spirit forges and general 'secrets' to find keeps you busy for weeks trying to locate them all. Well worth a go!
