  • Spector may have been a crap human being but boy he was well ahead of his time...great sound...Like a room full to the ceiling

  • This reminds me of gettin into all these groups when I heard my parents playin and mom singing them, when all my friends were buyin rock, punk records in the early 80's I was buyin those and buyin these records off guys on st marks place in lower east side manhattan,ny.great times

  • Nine Months brought me here :)

  • loved this song,,Robert// Halifax nc

  • This is a lovely song-it reminds me of being at home with my parents in the mid 80's. I bought the very best of Phil Spector 1961-1966 cd, yesterday. It has 19 songs and around half of them to my knowledge are really good. Some of them that I don'tremember well but that ring a bell from that period of my life are also on there. Thanks for posting this-will always love Motown!!

  • @tpmableful Nah...Just born 40 years too late...

  • The Wall of Sound hits you like a FREIGHT TRAIN!!! Nothin' like it! "Whoa Ho...Whoa, Ho Ho Ho"...BOOOMMMMM!!!!!

  • brillant just brillant

  • Woohoo! Justin Bieber just announced he's doing a cover. Can't wait!

  • @tpmableful because all bieber can do is mediocre covers of good songs? how lucky are we!

  • @socodu Bieber is a creative genius.

  • @tpmableful For the love of God. Please tell me your kidding......

  • 1:21 I LOVE their look, soooo beautiful. I would rock a similar look even today :-D

  • stunning,beautiful,natural looking,talented ladies.

  • Loooooove the hair and style of clothes so CLASSIC (((...

  • Blows the Ramones version out of the water - simply brilliant

  • I bet I'm the only 12 year old guy that listens to this, all you hear in new pop music is rich people whining about how they didn't have sex that day, or how much money they have.

  • @AssDroidz im 16 and listening to this , so i know where your coming from .Musics all about sex now, and it seems like nobody has any respect for themselves ! Theres like no more love in the industry . Your probably the most mature 12 year old ive ever met though !

  • @SuperIzzybelle probably the most refreshing comment i've ever read on the internet. Fair play to you, you'll go far.

  • @TheBaronsamedi88 Aw, thanks :) !

  • WTF Happend To Music Today Its An Abomination

  • @babyimawantyou - I agree. And that's what my dad used to say, too.

  • @CaptainJimKirk Except this time it's for real.

  • @babyimawantyou de-soulisationof music, de-heartisation of music, de-mentalistion de-sincerisation, de-putting-ofyour-feeling-passion-dreams-into-your-songs!!!!

    castration.

  • @babyimawantyou compared to this music -yes! Girl bands, girl power and what do we have today? I love listening to ladies who can sing - why can't we have this in 2012?

  • I like this but I definitely prefer Ramones version! But what did you expect... that's RAMONES :D

  • Amy Winehouse copied their hair, good choice ;)

  • saw ronnie spector just a couple of years ago in bilston, made some fabulous records with the ronettes back in 60s,such a pity her hubby phil spector kept her indoors and away from singing as we would have had a mountain of classic sounds like this from her!.

  • The Ramones did an AWESOME version of this song TOO! take a look at it, it was also produced by Phil Spector, Ronnies husband who produced much of Motowns sound and created the wall of sound.

  • JUST LOVE THIS GREAT SONG FROM 1963~~~~~ GREAT CHA-CHA-

    GREAT MEMORIES!

LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE DANCING TO THIS SONG IN 1963 ON ALL THOSE GYM FLOOR!! LOVING MY LIFE AT 13 YEARS OLD!

    GREAT MEMEORIES

COME ON BABY,! BABY I LOVE ONLY YOU. !

  • @cynthia6637 . . . and we were so lucky to be alive in those days. We were much happier than the kids are now. Going to the teen dances, dancing with the one you thought you loved. Looking back and knowing the world will never be the same, but if only teenage lives could be happy like that again. Thankful I am to have these memories preserved forever!! Thank you.

  • Good songs and writing are timeless

  • nedra! estelle! ronnie! Queens of all time!

  • i like the ronettes but i was born in 75' and i live in france my sweet dream is let go to US because i love you'r country since my childhood

  • @MOMSYisHERE777 Come on over sweetheart...America will welcome you.

  • @Appleholic1 lol is complicate dear .....i don't have the green card ^^ but is my swich i want in the future real américan girl ....plz send me request friendship i want meet you :)

  • @Appleholic1

Why does America welcome everyone from around the world except the English? When we arrive there for a holiday we are treated like scum at the customs / immigration desk. Finger prints are taken, and we are asked questions such as 'Are you a Terrorist?'. We really are asked that. All we wanted was to go to Orlando for a holiday and we are made to feel very unwelcome at the airport. It was great, however to watch John Glenn take off in a Shuttle for his second space mission.

  • @slaynt John Glenn completed his second space mission in 1998. I don't think that the term "Terrorist" was a part of our working vocabulary at the time. What are you talking about? Regards,

    Wiltent

  • hahahaha ramones

  • I'm over 9000... and I'm listening to this.

  • Well Stacy, im 16 but male x3 Still think its awesome.

No-one has a good voice these days and having good lyrics can make up for that BUT barely any new songs have those either.

  • THE MIGHT OF THE RONETTES..BRILLIANT XXXX

  • WoW... What else is there to say. Listening to the Ronettes for 48 years and still this song is fresh and new. Estelle, Nedra, and Ronnie will be fresh young and beautiful FOREVER in Cyberspace!

  • Every Time I See "Estelle", Something In Her "Eyes" Looks Different, Sad,

    Vacant...Now I Know.

What Personal Hell She Must Of Lived Through.

    RIP Estelle, Beautiful Lady.

  • Thumbs up if you think that CaptainJimKirk is better than QueenStacy09 !

  • I raised my kids to this music and they are soooo cool. The music lifts their spirits and aspirations.

  • mm mixed chicks so fine

  • My neighbor's uncle is 47 ... But he doesn't like this song...

  • @padamox LMAO...

  • I was lucky to grow up listening to immortal classic tunes like this! The Ronettes, The Crystals, The Dixie Cups, The Shirelles, The Marvelettes... we don't have any of the great 'girl groups' around any more... this sure beats the music of the last three decades!

  • yeah im from the future im 303 years old i like the tune! yeah they don´t make them like these now (303 years in the future) we hate pop cuz we are too cool for it plus all the robots making music now suck

  • SWEET! Thx! SUPERTUNE

  • NOBODY gives a crap about how old you are and are listening to this. just enjoy the damn music and if you really want to make a comment do one that is interesting if you may

  • I'm 20-100 and I don't care about preconceived notions concerning the age of the youtube listener. This song is classic and I adore The Ronettes.

  • I'm almost 20 and I hate Amy Winehouse but think these are the real deal.

  • Have I ever told you how good it feels to hold you? Soooo romantic!!!!!

  • Ha! I'm 16 and listening to these girls!

    Lol jk

    Seriously great music, though. :)

  • TERRIFIC POST! I SALUTE YOU............CAPT. TOM D.BRICK,NJ. {AT THE SHORE}.

  • i'm 15 & i think it's hot how Amy Winehouse gets her ideas from these guys..♥

  • cazzo, che gnocca!

  • I was in lust with these ladies in my teens !

  • @23929500

    I M STILL LUSTIN,

    and I m 57.... teenager

  • I'm 14 and I'm listening to this... I love that Amy Winehouse take the idea from The Ronettes :)

  • It reminds me of the movie "Nine Months" ending credits theme

  • love those beehives, I wish they would come back into faschion

  • Can't beat a bit of Phil Spector!!! ;-))

  • @frederickyongtong Now we know where Amy W got the inspiration for her hairstyle!

  • Wait, the Ramones were not the first ones to sing this?!! :O holy cr!!

  • There are some good factors for being old and this one of them

  • I first heard this song in 1963 (4) when I was five or six years old for it was the first sound we tuned in on the crystal radio my older brother and I built from a kit.

  • i like the ramones version

  • i watches the movie 9 months yesterday and i came here to find this song lol

    it's really cute

  • thank you, girls, for this eternal music

  • Tell me if I'm wrong but during their career in the 50's/60's seems like their complexion was hidden...Of course I don't really care the most important is their music...BUT...

  • Awesome, I always loved this group, even tho Phil Spector started the whole wall sound thing, Brian Wilson took it and rode it big time, and everyone else followed, The Ramones version is not too bad either, but that was again Phil Spector trying to make his comeback at the time,,, The rest is history I guess....

  • Love the beehives!

  • wonderful to get to go back into your life looking for you soul-mate , right

  • Comment removed

  • Amy Winehouse got her inspiration from them.

  • @doowopit YEAHH! (but why Telly?)

  • Adorable....

  • fantastic

  • Wasn't it Estelle Bennett, Patricia Bennett and (of course) lead singer Ronnie Bennett who became (Mrs.) Ronnie Spector?

  • This is dedicated to Amy.

  • HEY who cares how old you are! :D Ronettes = classic :)

  • This is for you, Amy. R.i.P. I am so sorry for the pain you were in. You will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

  • The BEST Spector intro ever, and Ronnies vocals WOW!!

  • I bought a second hand portable record deck, mono, play this track on there it sounds perfect.

Problem is 50s,60s music does not sound good through a lot of modern stereo equipment, its not natural.

  • The class of these performers, the quality of production - this is in my opinion pops equal to classical music its so polished, fantastic.

  • music like this keep us going in nam man good sound

  • Producer "Phil Spector" forced "The Ramones" to listen when he played this song on a piano a whole night (he had a gun) Quote "You´re not going anywhere Dee Dee!" .-)

  • That voice. Has there ever been anything like it? And it come out of that smoking hot chick!!! And the girls who back her are just as hot. The Ronettes are an incredible group. Interesting comments about the production. I think it is brilliantly suited for the group's sound.

  • Im made sure my mom and dad is not home before I listen to this

  • silk smooth flawless voices, endearing melodies, timeless distinct classic song totally lost on 63 people.

  • One of the most popular girl groups of the 1960s, they teamed up with The Beatles for a fourteen city tour across America in 1966.

  • Ronnie*** Pounding, Throbing, Heart Racing Music.........

    Nedra, Beautiful Harmonies..........

    & Estelle.... rip

  • @desert3347 Great comment

  • It sounded great then and now.

  • This is a great song. It came on and took over. The sound fit the time. And the girls. It added depth. Listen to it on a good sound system and Lp. not on some cheep ipod or headset on CD.

  • A famous composer was asked , if you were stranded on a desert Island, and could only have one recording, what would it be? after some thought , he replied..The Ronettes greatest hits, when asked WHY?, he said thats the purest music you will ever hear..and you never get tired of it!....poppa

  • I wish I didn't feel this way, but I kind of hate Spector's production, it makes everything sound mushy and obscured. Nothing is distinct, it's all melted together.

  • @KingCrimson776 That'd be the "Wall of Sound", then.

  • @CaptainJimKirk Yeah, that. Probably sounded far out back then, but makes me crave a sharper sound now. The tune itself is immaculate tho.

  • @CaptainJimKirk hehehe - right on:)

  • @KingCrimson776 it didn't on a tiny AM radio or a jukebox or a b/w tv's tiny speaker. those were the main technologies for mass media sound reproduction when Spector created this 'mushy and obscured' sound. Of course it sounds that way on today's audio technology, but nearly 50 years ago it sounded better than anything else on those cheap little speakers. So, find a cheap cassette player, put a tape of this in. then crank it up. that's about as close as you can get to how we heard it back then.
