U can't shoot Berger 230 gr out safely from a wsm but they load just fine in wm with a bc over .711 , even a 7mm has a hard time coming even close to those numbers and if u manage to shoot them they wont stabilize u will need more speed = more powder and u will run out of case space.

The 300 WSM has virtually identical performance to a 300Win Mag, but uses about 20-25% less powder, with less muzzle blast and less recoil. A LOT LESS RECOIL IMHO.

I have a 2003 Winchester model 70 "Coyote" w/ 24" stainless barrel and laminated stiock, and I LOVE IT! So much that I bought a Browning A-Bolt stalker 22"bbl in Left-hand (I'm LH). Had Rem 700 .270 and a 7MM Mag before, and this gun has lower recoil and shoots dead-nuts accurate. Everything I've shot with it dropped in its' tracks.

@garwoodv6 You are right man, the gun does kick less because the muzzle velocity of the WSM is slightly less than the Win. Mag. The major difference is that the WSM retains its power, and accuracy better than the Win. Mag. By 500yds, if sighted in at around 150yds, the WSM surpasses the Win. Mag in every category. I love this catridge, I mean the only weapon that beats its velocity and trajectory (in 500yds) is the .223 wssm, and there is no other one that even comes close to its muzzle energy.

The short fat cartridges have been very popular with the benchrest community. they fit in a short action, and have all the benefits of a short action. the short fat cartridge has been proven for along time to be more accurate and consistant than longer magnum cartrdges for delivering long range accuracy

yea kinda had to go off of what they had listed for 180 grain bullets and work my way up. my favorite load for it was 61.0 gr. H4350 load at 3.005" at 2810 FPS. ES was around 8 FPS. prolly could have gone up to around 2900 FPS but accuracy was awesome at 2810. and accuracy was always under half inch
