  • This tune is so deep. Wow.

  • Bonnie's gentle female touch is ____________ !!

  • @hereaftersix

classic in songs like this & HAVE A HEART

  • Fanstasic combination of great music & beautiful art. FANTASTIC! Thank you for posting!!!!

    Coco

  • Great song. Wonderful lyrics

  • LOL 2 "t's" baby and just who are the thirteen going to burn in hell ???? lol

  • Who is the painting at 1:09 by? I really like your idea, the different images all convey the feeling of the song, which I suppose underlines the universality of the lyric.

  • LOVE THIS SONG! LOVE YOU BONNIE RAITT!

  • no one conveys the poignancy or essence like Bonnie. She keeps it real...

  • Thanks! Great song Video is good too!!!

  • Love Bonnie Raitt. Nice pics for this song.

  • Raitt has 2 t's?

  • Thanks howie

    great song

    nice pics

one of the most sensuous songsever done

a song to lay next to that loving lady that loves you back

    great stuff.

  • JUST LOVE THIS SONG..

  • The typo is in the beginning. Its Bonnie Raitt, not Bonnie Rait.

  • Seen Bonnie sing . Great time

  • Sandy can you sing this? I like this song! lol G

  • Great vid anyone seen Tommy g valentine? It's Julie blues singer say hi to bonnie4 me!!!

  • So well written, and accessible to virtually anyone; its message is universal.

  • Bonnie Rait makes me remember long rides on the back roads in Texas... beautiful sunsets. Never gonna hear another lady like this one folks !!

  • Anyone still searching for great new music in a similar vein should check Freebo (bonnies bassplayer) recent albums, just great folk music and he does amazingly intimate live shows around the country all the time. Check his website freebomusic

  • wont hear music like this come out anymore. what a fucking shame. go bonnie! you bring back childhood memories....

  • Very beautiful!

  • Today is my mom 63 B day. This was one of her favorite songs .Happy b day mom. Rip

  • the song of course is great!!!! but i really like the the pictuers.......

  • Where can I find the names of these beautiful paintings? & Love this song!

  • Incredible tune and vocal performance. I really can't get the logic some people use when accusing her of selling out. She suffered in obscurity over twenty years before becoming an 'overnight success'. I swear they wanted her to sing "Angel from Montgomery" in bars until the day she died.

  • I love the art :)

  • life gets more precious,,,when there's less of it to waste

  • This song is so real. Truly describes my life in my late 30s. Love it!!!!

  • I think I've been revisiting this one for about two years now. This item is one I cite, repeatedly, as an example of YouTube put to it's best possible use and advantage. Really, if there were awards for these instances of posting, this one is deserving.

  • Fully agree. Respect to you!

  • I did. You spelled Rait wrong! It is 2 t's

  • This song is a cautionary tale for women who acquisce "I don't want kids" comments by their boyfriend/husband. You can't change him and with only a limited amount of procreational time ... waiting is self-defeating.

  • This is for all of the women caught in unhappy marriages who seek the man of their dreams! I'm one of them!

  • Bonnie Rocks! Her songs have a human touch!

  • Great job! Thanks for sharing the fantastic images and music.

  • hey im singin this song for our variety show..its gonna be awsome!!! =]

  • beautiful song

  • this song is not about recovery.its about her friend who wants to have a child.....she feels she is getting to old and does not have a man in her life she loves enough to have a child with.....she told the story on storytellers live.........her friend is in fact now married with child "she found love in the nick of time"

  • what, you think i can't read or hear? the above reply explains it...funny that you can't look beyond the words... you just don't get it...

  • Well done for spotting that ! A Big Thanks to the invenetor of such Amazing Choice of Paintings You Rock

  • fat guy is disturbing!!

  • I love this tune. One of my favorites from her.

And I did spot the typo! LOL

  • this is beautiful as is the song...good job!

  • Her thinly veiled recovery song...thanks Bonnie.

  • I love this song, and I'm in recovery, but I'm not very good at veiled things, even thinly.........How is this about recovery? I thought it was about aging?

  • Yes, aging as a result of too much booze:

Just when I thought I'd had enough

    All my tears were shed...

    No promise left unbroken,

There were no painful words unsaid.

You came along and showed me

How to leave it all behind....

You opened up my heart again and then much to my surprise.

I found love, love in the nick of time

I didn't pick up on it right away either and then one night when I was talking to Freebo he confirmed it!

  • A couple of other great rock and roll recovery songs"

Freebo: You Don't Have To Live This Way and Somehow.

    Stephen Stills: Different Man

Joe Walsh : One Day At A Time

All of these songs were very instrumental in my early recovery and remain to be to this day. As a matter of fact Freebo sang 'You Don't have to Live This Way' to me a couple of weeks ago in Key Largo because we both need to be reminded!!

  • I don't know who Freebo is....What is his relationship with Bonnie?......So YOU opened up my heart again - is she talking about God?

  • I think it's about getting old period and missing out on love, then finding it before time ran out. It means that to me. I'm sure however you take it, is appropriate. If the song is inspirational to you, it is a good thing. lol

  • again, anything you want it to be...

no inspiration here for me, i was just passing what her very old friend and bass player said about bonnie and this song. the people that are posting their opinions of its meaning didn't write nor were they there...this isn't my opinion...it's what i was told by someone who knows....sorry to have stirred it up so much.

  • Was that Joni Mitchell at 2:18 ?

  • When I first heard this song somewhere back around 1990, I was drawn to it instantly! Since then, it has secured a firm spot as one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time. Honestly, I don't know why it hasn't had more commercial success. It is simply an amazing song. Everything about this song works. The melancholy lyrics of the first two verses and the bridge are finally redeemed by the last verse which is full of hope. The tune is simple but so passionate. Best Bonnie song ever!

  • "she is scared...scared to run out of time"

oh how that sings to my own heart...

    thanks bonnie

  • This song sings to my own heart as well. Fast approaching 30 and I feel so scared to run out of time and to also be the "friend of mine she cries at night and she calls me on the phone, sees babies everywhere she goes and she wants one of her own..."

  • i am 32 and my son is almost a year old. i listened to this song before i got pregnant and all the time while i was pregnant! it really resonated with me then and now. i'm glad to know others feel the same way!

  • Please know that you are very young and you are not even close to running out of time......I've always felt that way, and now at 47, I realize how stupid it was for me to always be thinking that way. I remember turning 19 and thinking my best days were behind me! ....Don't make the same mistakes I did.

  • Don't worry, I'm twice your age. There is still plenty of time for you. I'm just hitting my stride!!!

  • i'll make a baby with you

  • I really love this song,It brings tears to my eyes beacause of how good Bonnie is,why can't more singung ladies be like her these days,hm makes me wonder.

  • That's what I call bitter sweet.

    Nice job.

  • Great song, great images - is there some way you can also list the artists who did the great pictures .. thanks for posting this vid.

  • The melody, the lyrics, and the instrumentation produce what is pretty much a perfect song here, at the same prodcuing a depth of meaning and melancholy, seredipity that can scare or warm anyone's heart but to a

baby-boomer, it's like a reminder of something very real slipping through the ether as each moment passes

  • *sigh* TY

  • Nah, howie235. I thought it was terrific. Which may mean that I have a strange mind, too.

  • Wow. Bonnie Raitt and Lucian Freud. THAT'S a combination I'd never have thought of.

  • Guess i have a strange mind?

  • @howie235 and I love it it expresses the song thoroughly great job!!!!!

  • Her voice is magic......my toe is tapping

  • This song will never age because there will always be someone scared to run out of time... so true in many ways more than it speaks of.

  • How could I say about this...

This is the first time for me

how a sort of grotesquery brings some

    impression.

    I say it's beautiful

Just no words to express my feelings.

    Thanks,

  • "no words" exactly. grotesquery is not a word.

  • My favorite Bonnie cd.

  • Mine too!!!

  • Bonnie is just too cool. Great art also.

  • when i first got this cd long ago i played the heck out of it,lord noone can deliver like bonnie..

  • My Daddy "Turned Me Out in 75'"... This, and Rainy Day Man were just 2 of his(and mine) favorites.

You are so right when you say MUSIC TRANSENDS ALL COLOR, RACE, CREED, RELIGION....

Funny thing is, I loved her daddy when I was a little girl, and first heard him sing "Hey There"....OK??

Trust me, color ain't got a damn thing to do with it!!!

    A Sister from Harlem,NY!!!!

  • Hey man don't get me wrong. I slept with all of them! I just havn't found the right one.Don't think about marriage untill your at least 35.

  • the 2-chord progression that gives us all chills, at places like :56 and 1:37 et al, is a G# diminished to an A minor.

    beautiful.

  • I'm a 32 y/o guy that's never been intimate with anyone or really been involved and feel like I'm missing out sometimes. This song makes me feel that I may find my soulmate one day, in the nick of time, before it's too late.

  • I was 24 before I dated my wife, and we've been married for over 11 years. Don't give up, love is gonna kind you, when you're not lookin' at all. as long as there is breath in you it's not to late. finding someone to trust. believe me feeling lonely regarding a mate is much better than having a heart waxed cold from being broken so many times.

  • Beautiful song, one hot lady and ive got my copy of the single, however i cant help but think of Jackson Browne's Running on Empty when i listen to it, i may be wrong but it sounds like Bonnie has taken a part of Jacksons song, slowed down the tempo and well as changed the key.
