still miss Dan and more music. I think about all the great music he must have recorded over the years that we never heard--songs he couldnt fit on albums--they're probably lot --makes me sad we never will hear them....Jean has been great with releading Love In Time and I think I read she is getting a book together--hope its soon!
I just wish that there was a cleaned up remastered version of this video. But I really appreciate that somebody posted it. Love Dan. Always will. R.I.P. brother.
We caught his tour in Memphis just before we married. It was an amazing show. I remember Russ Kunkel on drums and Joe Vitale on flute and woodwinds. Not too damn shabby! Too bad the sound is so muddy, but thanks for posting this. Good memories.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
I remember buying this on vinyl when it came out and taking it home and listening to these opening numbers for the first time. WOW~ ! I just put on the headphones and laid on the floor and was taken away.
I think this is Innocent age tour. Kenny Passerelli on bass, lead guitar is some guy from the Amazing Rythum Aces and I think Micheal Brewer (Brewer & Shipley) on acoustic guitar. Possibly Russ Kunkel on drums. Looks a lot like the show I saw at U of IL in 1981.
I've said for around thirty years now that if I were stranded on a deserted island and could have Dan's albums (especially TWIN SONS, PHOENIX, NETHERLANDS, AND THE INNOCENT AGE) with me, I'd be content without any other music.
He's just the best ever. Without question one of the most talented and underrated singer/songwriter/performers of all time.
@RandyWallace01 That's Barry Byrd Burton of The Amazing Rhythm Aces and more. Listen to 'The End is Not in Sight' by the A.R.A. The Byrd was superman in more ways than one.
I saw this tour in Atlanta Georgia. I can remember being in the dark when this song started ... Awesome sound ,, he didnt have much show,, All you wanted was Music and stories,, he didnt let you down ,, With the sad state of affairs in the music industry he was a rare find in music, He put Poetry to music,, he will always be missed !!!
cheers! thanks for the obscure footage. i haven't found much live coverage of dan. it's a shame because he is an amazing musician. i have most his cds but would love more live coverage, especially home free and captured angel. if you have any plz post. thanks.
I saw this tour when he came to Chicago. It was incredible. that was Barry Burton from the Amazing Rhythm Aces on guitar, Kenny Pasarelli on bass and I think Russ Kunkel on drums. Thanks for posting this. My one regret is that I never met him. What a great talent.
It is still hard to believe he passed. Jeanne has been kind enough to update some photos on Dan's website...there is a great photo and explanation of Dan ice skating (after his dx and treatment). He looks really great in it..even though he was weakened. Take a look. Greg
These two songs from the Phoenix album made me get hooked on Dan to begin with. Once I caught up with Souvenirs and Nether Lands and Twin Sons Of Different Mothers, I was hooked for life.
I can't believe how Dan was able to play and write bluegrass, hard rock, R&B and classical with the same intensity. And he could sing better than most artists too! Dan's passing is a loss I cannot fathom.
It's amazing; I got hooked on Fogelberg in the exact same musical order (Phoenix, Souvenirs, Caputred Angel). Everyone who hears me play these CD's loves them and I've inadvertently sold some Fogelberg CD's as a result of people hearing me play his music.
There's gotta be a master of this somewhere. Thanks for salvaging this high-mileage copy, though. This song is a flat out rocker--proof that Dan didn't just write ballads for our older sisters.
Soooo good to hear and see some live performances by Dan... I miss him and his spirit soooo much - perhaps he isn't that far away after all. All I know is that he helped me through some very hard times - and I'm still kickin'!!!
I would bet this is from the early 1980-1981 Innocent Age tour - similar playlist. Does anyone know when this was filmed, along with the other related videos?
According to the VHS bootleg of this concert that I bought off ebay, it was filmed in Houston. Not sure about the year, but it was probably within the time window you mentioned.
WOW!!...what city did this show take place in?? Who is Dan playing with? Also, wonder where the original film is? This was a 3/4 camera shoot and professionally done..I would love to get the original concert footage. Maybe Sony has and will release??
Incredibly strong performance by Dan and company. I remember these days, when he was so in his prime. It is a wonderful thing to see again. Thank you, thank you for sharing this with all of us who loved Dan and his beautiful music for all of our lives. This really takes me back. Do you have this whole show on video? If so, I would love to see it in it's entirety.
Such an impressive musician. RIP, dear friend. Blessings to Jean.
All your videos I have watched on Dan are so wonderful to see. When I first came on to youtube just a few months ago, I was searching for his treasures, but stunned to see almost no Fogelberg pieces at all. It's great that everyone has shared so much now, when we all miss him and mourn the loss of a brilliant and gifted man. It's comforting to listen and watch these. Huge Thanks.
Wow, thanks SO much for this, I used to have this show on VHS but my wife recorded over it by mistake! Good to see it again! We need more EARLY Dan video, please post if anyone has anymore! (We need some "Souvenirs" or "Captured Angel" tours!)
Thank you so much for posting this. There isn't much video footage of Dan circulating out there. What a gift to find some classic Fogelberg videos. A truly gifted, creative, inspiring prolific singer/songwriter/musician.

Dan Fogelberg. Dear god, where does one begin?

Amazingly, Tullamore and Phoenix were the songs that hooked me too! At age 15, they were my attitude adjustment after work before heading out.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Fogelberg track.
The studio cut is a rocking tour de force that IMHO, is on par with Clapton's 'The Core'.
Love 'em both!
