My mom and layne saved my life recently just reading how he died and how his girl died made me never want to try the stick again. I had tried it the day of my divorce last year. I had just about broke my neck so I had to take pain meds and they lead me down a spiral of my own personal hell. I am finally free from that hell and very happy. I listen to his words carefully how he sings about he could save himself sometimes its like I just woke up from a coma. RIP Layne.

So tragic, his death, is that a picture of his father in the 20 second of the video, such a shame what deadbeat dads can do to their children, he was out of his life using drugs, then when Layne became famous reappeared only to use him for his money and drugs, I am sure if Layne would have had peace within himself and a better father he would not have turned to drugs

Layne was found dead on april 20th, but it was estimated he had been dead around two weeks. Which would mean he died on rougly the same day in april that cobain died. Don't think for a second that layne didn't respect kurt.

Just a comment on the Cobain or Staley front. Jerry Cantrell said in an interview once, "...Kurt was a good guy and a great lyricist, but the guy could sing or play guitar to save his life." That's from Layne's brother at arms. And I mean no disrespect to Kurt or Nirvana, without AIC Nirvana and Soundgarden I wouldn't be who I am today.

I think Cobain was great in the "grunge" scene, and Id never try to even disrespect him as an artist. But, I think Layne bridged the gap and transcended the "grunge label" better.

I think role models in general should never be taken too seriously, because we are only human. You see, when some one is a role model, the spotlight becomes centered on them, so it isn't easy to be perfect for everyone.
