German Sepherds are so clever. I used to close mine in the back yard, so that he doesn't attack to strangers, and somehow he could escape and come to the front yard. At first I was like "WTF", but then I saw him opening the door using the handle. And since then I have to lock to be sure he doesn't eat anyone :)

my GSD does the same...he knows exactly how to open each and every door in our house...hahaha! scary intelligent! I have to put him on a leash to prevent him from doing unnecessary things...I will just off leash him once I have the time to watch over him to make sure he won't be of any danger...mine was very curious...he would get anything that interest him...he was never hesitant to know something even though he has an idea that its sort of dangerous...he fools me most of the time...hahaha!

I love the sounds German Shepherds make. It really is like they're trying to talk. I had one when I was a kid who would look you in the eyes and make all kinds of sounds. He would also "sing" along with people during songs.

Protects the house and the yard, if i go to sleep he lays on the floor next to me and protects me while i sleep, never lets any other dog attack me, no matter how big they are... Best dog breed in the world! Smart, brave, protective, loyal and very beautiful! :D

So glad I did not see anyone cite this as an act of cruelty. This man very much loves his dog more than anything. "Daddy" would not let anything happen to his baby ... that's very evident! What we saw here is this breed's incredible, beyond-belief intelligence. I own four big males (Aries, Apollo, Hades and Zeus) and have owned a total of 9 through my life do far. They get frighteningly more intelligent with age! LOL!

German shepherds are so smart!! When mine was about 4-5 months old she also learned on her own how to use a door handle (easier than opening a sliding door though)
