SPOILER(?):For anyone that wants to know why Karl lost his arm. He lost his arm because he was running low on energy and started falling apart ( as indicated when his foot fell off). The 'mistake' Karl references at the end of the fight was using too much energy. Read the comics, they help out a lot.
