It may interest you to know that Freddie himself was actually a countertenor. His range was not as great as D's but still brilliant. I bet Freddie be smiling :) I know I was mate :D

freddie mercury was not a countertenor. He had an amazing range, and yes could go very high in CHEST VOICE, and in falsetto, but his natural voice fell in his chest voice. A countertenors natural voice falls in his head voice or falsetto. Notice the femininity in Ds voice, its not chest voice. Freddie Mercury was a tenor, my personal favorite singer of all time.

I never thought about doing a crossover from Queen to lieder or to a setting for countertenor not different than something composed by John Dowland. Now I can see a song by Freddy Mercury included in an evening of lieder or Renaissance music. Amazing!

I do have a deep speaking voice....technically I use my falsetto as gentle as possible. And it grows stronger graduately. But I think I have a lyric voice. Thank you for the compliment!
