well..i think the onyx (bold 9700) is the perfect phone... it reflects both the 9000 and the old 8900. and its pretty convenient in terms of its size compare to the 9000. and its more edgy compare to the 8900 for its 3G

The 9700 is essentially a 3G version of the 8900. They both have the same camera, etc. Also the trackball is much nicer to use.

same here, I have an 8310, I was offered the monsterous 9000 (too unfeminine! I would hate it), and the storm2 (if i wanted screen keys I'd go for Iphone). I wanted a 8900 (it was not available at the shop) , but then the assistant told me about the 9700, now I am looking at the specs...

i think you should just wait a couple of weeks for the 9700 because its probably gonna be priced at $200 but its up to you because they are pretty much the same thing. 3G on blackberry doesnt make that much of a difference.
