I just realized, something doesn't add up. The last fight of chapter Two was with Queklain, the first Lucavi demon you kill. So by the time Wiegraf becomes Velius, Ramza'a already witnessed someone turn into one of the Lucavi servants. So why does he get specifically horrified by Velius, but not Queklain?
@Zyoracthebrave Still, the way Cardinal transformed, and Queklain said I forget what ( :/ ) andthenstraightinto the fight was unnatural. There should have at last been a reaction to clarify Ramza's fear. For all intents and purposes, we can assume he was, but hid it. This doesn't change how strange it seems.
This is true. It would make sense for Ramza to hide it the first time. Perhaps he just thought that nobody else was able to or would transform, which led to showing his fear when Wiegraf became Velius.
I currently am playing the PSP version. However, I am barely into chapter 3. Aside from the (In my opinion), horrible spelling of Queklain, and renaming Draclau to Delacroix, Ramza's reaction to him is no different. This being the case, I wouldn't expect his reaction to Wiegraf being any different. I'm kind of going through the game rather quickly, so I can let you know of any changes I see in his reaction to Wiegraf's transformation.
@Zyoracthebrave I have watched another person upload the PSP version and the reactions to the Zodiac Demon's are the same as in the original version on the Playstation.
Yeah, that's true. I think that's just because of the translation differences between the PSP and PSX versions. Personally, I prefer the PSP translations.
ramza DOES actually react to the cardinal transforming it happened to me the 3rd time a i played it through.
He questions queklain about what the hell he did with the cardinal and what is he, queklain replies he is the cardinal and briefly explains he is a lucavi and his nature, ramza then replies that the cardinal must of been evil to begin with to allow this to happen. sorry my summary isn't detailed its been years since i played it but i felt the same way you did
..i thought it was strange ramza didn't react to a priest transforming into god knows what lol. One of the walk through videos of that battle contains the dialogue between them i saw it last year look it up if your still curious.

@Andrewxx20 Wait, you grinded up to level 99 prior, or had 99 X potions? Either way, of course you decimated him, that's breaking the fight seven ways to Sunday... :/
@FroggyQC23 Indeed, the first time I played with no strats I think I went as dragooon to do it, with strat I went with Tailwind spam to get 10 turns in a row with Ramza
@HeWhoEnjoysTehVids The Zodiac stones and the Behelit, the Zodiac Braves and the Godhand and their Apostles... Ramza and Delita... Gattsu and Griffith.
@Pharenheitz love the classic Greek tragedy atmosphere in Berserk. It's something done so well in both it and FFT.
It's a theme that is hard to get right, just look at Naruto for example. Delita and Griffith are interesting villains, Sasuke is that one guy who lost all the time and was popular for being a bishonen lol
@HeWhoEnjoysTehVids There is a kind of Greek Tragedy sense to it all, and I see what you mean about the bishonen, perhaps that's a subtle Japanese storytelling style.
Naruto played heavily on classic character rivlaries, most academy style stories, even Harry Potter have equivalents in Draco Malfoy and what not. I associate Coheed and Cambria alot with Final Fantasy Tactics. the stories, Claudio and Jesse.
@Pharenheitz you could say Griffith is also bishonen, but he's a lot more of a fleshed character than Sasuke, and he looks like he walked out of a greek myth. They even tackle a bit of the homoerotic tones so common in these kinds of stories, which sort of adds to the overall impact of. . . well, y'know.
My only problems with FFT, is while Delita is a well built up character, the rest of the cast; excluding Ramza, are pushed to the side after joining. Sad, since I liked Agrias.
@HeWhoEnjoysTehVids Sexuality in general is a rarely explored subject in these genres, and I'm not talking about characters falling in love or something, I mean the male and female emotions are being explored through the characters as they interact with others.
It was always the charm, sometimes, about certain games, that made the smallest of amount of dialogue important to understand certain characters.
@Pharenheitz I kind of prefer the older Final Fantasy approach of romance being a subplot to the main conflict of a story. Nowadays, it seems like the romance is just there to fill in for a shoddy plot; like in FFVIII and X.
Though, in Berserk's case, they explore both the negative and positive aspects of sexuality. . . mostly the negative, which actually served to make the actual romantic scenes all the more gripping. In a harsh and dark world, love still exists.
@HeWhoEnjoysTehVids That's a good point. Romance and love are used as innocent or at least the noble side-plot to any main character's quest. Love or sexuality can complicate numerous relationships and lead to conflict.
In FFVII, Cloud and Aries never get a chance to begin a relationship, and Tifa struggles to communciate with Cloud. Zidane and Garnet had the best relationship, I felt because in all the FF games, they communicated their feelings the most to one another. You watched them grow.
@Pharenheitz nowadays they just seem to force the love story into the front line too much. I never really got the feeling that Squall and Rinoa, or Tidus and Yuna were really in love. Much in the same way I'm supposed to believe Anakin and Padmay are in "love" in the Star Wars prequels. It's implied, but not really shown. With Zidane and Garnet, we see them start out as friends, go through more and more situations that bring them closer together, it helped to set the up the romance.

@nagato455 I just call it like I see it. Uematsu has more of a pop style to his work. Not saying it's bad, but it doesn't create the same drama. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of Uematsu FF songs I like, but people need to give Sakimoto more credit for his work.

@Folhasful Really!? That sucks! If games stopped making me feel things, I'd be so sad :( Since when have you been immune to the emotional effects of good rpgs?
@PsOne4Life Actually the names of the songs are the same in WotL, but the Sound Test that was originall only in the Japanese version of the original was put in all versions of WotL, and the songs are 'nicknamed' as well as Sakimoto and Iwata are credited under their nicknames of YmoH.S and REZON
When I first battled one of the Zodiac Stone demons, I was terrified out of my mind. I still consider it one of the most unexpected plot twists in a video game I've ever seen.
tell me a player who has play FFT the first thing that comes to mind in this song its not the Lucavi it is Velius lol got to hate that freaking battle if your playing legit
When I fought Velius during a later playthrough, I took a dancer, Ramza, and three goblins. Both Ramza and the dancer had the ninja reaction Sunken State. I started the dancer using her damaging dance, then had the goblins smack the heroes until they were invisible. An insane (insane!) amount of waiting and three dead goblins later, I won the battle. Boring, but surprisingly effective.
@TokenssRS I had a harder time when i was FF illiterate. But when i beat him, i was seriously overleveled and had at least auto-potion on each of my members except my ninja who had dragon spirit.
Some people gay. Why use accumalate repeatedly???? Grow some balls and fight instead of doing cheap shit. .___. I beat the game ALONE with Ramza as a LANCER. My second class was TIME MAGE. Id immobilize then jump on people. LMAO
@Darkmajesty22 coward when you jump no one can attack you so you have a stupid advantage so leave it to those you so call gay to actually do something like i dont know maybe.....REAL STRATEGY!!!!
Velius......You bastard. I made the same mistake many people do on my first playthrough. Saved when I wasn't properly leveled and equipped. It actually made me stop playing for about 2 months. But I played through again and after a still challenging battle (provided you don't do all the power leveling and exploits) I came out victorious. Anyway, I think the title of the song is referring to the corruption in the hearts of those who are posessed by Lucavi.
Goddammit I hated this part. I made the mistake to save before this! (don't do this) and I had not leveled up Ramza that much. I was badly equipped and it just sucked balls. But after days and nights of frustration I managed to get through that part. I felt like such a champ. This totally raised my self esteem through the roof.
ramza monk with two swords skill blade grasp guts as secondary and move +3 level 99 equipped with robe of the lords (For shell protect) and thief hat (cancels don't move don't act) with reflect ring for reflect, beat entire game with only ramza the final boss was a push over with this (still took a half hour) run away use scream 5 times then close in When low on HP cast Chakra when boss far away and out of Earth slash's reach Use scream again, when close get in your two hits for 999 each :3
The name really just is poor translation but honestly the game is so good that I could overlook the pervert and bloody excrement. The song is still hypnotizing as is the rest of the soundtrack!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAY LITTLE DUDE LETS PLAY A GAME I AM ONE AND YOU ARE 2 KISS MY ASS YOU STUPID FU HI YA KUNG FU MEGA BOOM UP YOUR BASS HA HA I COUGHT YOU BIE LETS PLAY AGAIN SOME TIME....
Everyone questioning the brilliant title of this piece needs to realize that in English one single word can have many many meanings depending on how it is used. As others have stated before me they are refering to a perversion of humanity.
@SuperSaiyanAl *demonic voices* (searching) Velius: " The Panties!!! WHERE ARE THEY????!!!!" (Belias pokes head out) Belias: " THEY'RE over HERE!!!" Velius: "quick before she gets back!!!!" *door opens* *they both teleport. (with the panties)* shit man that comment made me lmao
@SuperSaiyanAl But imagine going around doing constant pranks on these Lucavi demons like a Looney Tunes character, I bet that would lead to hilarious results.
Damn brings back memories! I remember when this 1st came on against Queklin and u couldnt check his battle stats i was like what...the...fuck... did my team get themselves into?...lol. thumbs up to all those that know what im talking about!
lol same here but it looked so sick its one of my fav spells in the game! i simply equippped ramza and my team with N-kai amulets which cut darkness damage in half...helped out a lot damn i remember that was a hard battle
Velius is not that difficult if you use the evade & yell/accumulate method on Ramza. You can basically attack 6 + times in a row, which is all it takes to honestly kill him since Speed seems to affect critical hit rates.
Besides. The fight that comes after it is highly unfair, especially since the only way to ensure a win is to have an extremely fast and strong character as Rafa seems to really hate life so much.
@nataliaoaks143 I just recently downloaded it for my PS3 and went through it for the 5th time. Idk if it's a good or bad thing; this is the only game I can re-play through constantly out of my old Playstation games, and still get a kick out of it all. Extremely good title to not be in the main canon.
And I've finally broke down and got a PSP, so I'll be playing through the PSP version, which is supposed to have additional content as well.
Anyhow, FFT is amazing. How can anyone not replay?

The first time I fought I Lucavi I was all nervous. :p It was quite scary. It's sad how games can't affect me this way anymore.
Folhasful 8 months ago
@Folhasful Really!? That sucks! If games stopped making me feel things, I'd be so sad :( Since when have you been immune to the emotional effects of good rpgs?

@PsOne4Life Actually the names of the songs are the same in WotL, but the Sound Test that was originall only in the Japanese version of the original was put in all versions of WotL, and the songs are 'nicknamed' as well as Sakimoto and Iwata are credited under their nicknames of YmoH.S and REZON

This is a True Boss Fighting theme... also, the Lucavi's have my full respect to be called "Boss"

When I first battled one of the Zodiac Stone demons, I was terrified out of my mind. I still consider it one of the most unexpected plot twists in a video game I've ever seen.
tbussard 1 year ago 2
tell me a player who has play FFT the first thing that comes to mind in this song its not the Lucavi it is Velius lol got to hate that freaking battle if your playing legit
GeneralCelesBeatrix 1 year ago 3
When I fought Velius during a later playthrough, I took a dancer, Ramza, and three goblins. Both Ramza and the dancer had the ninja reaction Sunken State. I started the dancer using her damaging dance, then had the goblins smack the heroes until they were invisible. An insane (insane!) amount of waiting and three dead goblins later, I won the battle. Boring, but surprisingly effective.

@TokenssRS I had a harder time when i was FF illiterate. But when i beat him, i was seriously overleveled and had at least auto-potion on each of my members except my ninja who had dragon spirit.
tommomann585 1 year ago
Velius wasn't that hard if you think about it. Just need people with good speed and that your team knows at least some form of revival/esuna.

Idk what was more intimidating about the Brave battles. Their grotesque bodies, this music or the fact that you couldn't see their HP&MP!!!! D:

Awesome song. A creepy and foreboding tune that fits the fight perfectly, this music was amazing.
ReticentIndignation 1 year ago
Goddammit I hated this part. I made the mistake to save before this! (don't do this) and I had not leveled up Ramza that much. I was badly equipped and it just sucked balls. But after days and nights of frustration I managed to get through that part. I felt like such a champ. This totally raised my self esteem through the roof.

Everyone questioning the brilliant title of this piece needs to realize that in English one single word can have many many meanings depending on how it is used. As others have stated before me they are refering to a perversion of humanity.

That may be, but the mental image of Velius/Belias rifling through a panty drawer like a dirty old man set to this music is too hilarious.

Hey, a song about me!
captaintylersparrow 1 year ago
It's probably better translated as "The Perverted". It makes more sense that way. Seeing as how they were in fact perverted by the Lucavi.
I also seen it called "The Impure".
manashima 1 year ago 3
Maybe "The Perverse" would be better?
TyphonSA 1 year ago
@manashima The Impure is actually Cúchulainn's nickname in the PSP version. The name of this song is "Helldance" in that version, too.

It took me an hour buffing Ramza. Once I got to fight with Velius, I destroyed him before he could move.
captaintylersparrow 1 year ago
PSOne version went like this -
Queklain - Kill in two turns if he doesn't go first
Velius - Run away from Wiegraf buffing yourself until you can one shot him and velius afterwards
Zalera - Bum Rush - adds are worthless
Adramellech - No adds = no problem
Hasmal - See above

Cardinal Delacroix - Cuchulainn
Wiegraf Folles - Belias

you mean to say "clops" right? haha damn psx mistranslations! good memories tho...
joker70784 1 year ago
Velius is not that difficult if you use the evade & yell/accumulate method on Ramza. You can basically attack 6 + times in a row, which is all it takes to honestly kill him since Speed seems to affect critical hit rates.
Besides. The fight that comes after it is highly unfair, especially since the only way to ensure a win is to have an extremely fast and strong character as Rafa seems to really hate life so much.
rygaen 1 year ago
@rygaen you sound very confident.... that's because you already know what you're doing and maybe because you already fought him several times....
nataliaoaks143 1 year ago
@nataliaoaks143 I just recently downloaded it for my PS3 and went through it for the 5th time. Idk if it's a good or bad thing; this is the only game I can re-play through constantly out of my old Playstation games, and still get a kick out of it all. Extremely good title to not be in the main canon.
And I've finally broke down and got a PSP, so I'll be playing through the PSP version, which is supposed to have additional content as well.
Anyhow, FFT is amazing. How can anyone not replay?
