  • If it weren't for greyhound racing, I wouldn't have had my best friend of 11 years; a retired racer.

  • ANYONE LOOKING FOR A COMPLETE MAGICAL DOG ADOPT A GREY ....YOU WONT BE SORRY........

  • handa vete a cagar idiota

  • Saying racing should be banned because of the actions of a select horrible few......is like saying all human beings should be euthanized because some humans commit murder. The percentages are about the same. Educate yourself.

  • Greyhounds do not love to run. They just have the misfortune of being really fast sprinters for a few minutes at a time.

  • @thatmanley55 I couldn't disagree more. My greyhound absolutely LOVES running. It's in his nature to do so... just like a Cheetah.

  • @thatmanley55 I knew little of Greyhounds until I adopted my Princess in 2003. She is now 11 and in excellent health. You are right that Greyhounds "do not love to run"; Rather, they LIVE to run. How could one say that it is the Greyhound's "misfortune" to be a fast sprinter? That's like saying it's a Bloodhound's misfortune to have a keen nose!? Adopt a Greyhound, you'll never be sorry.

  • Greyhounds love to run! There might be a side with a abuse to everything if you think about it....... Alot of people love their dogs like their own children! Shame on you for assuming all of society is evil.

  • I HATE it how people abuse these animals!!

  • This banned dog race got me layed-off.

  • i agree. they should ban racing 4 dogs. it is cruel!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(i have a greyhound.when they r not racing they stay in CAGES all day but 2 hours to go to the bathroom!

  • been adopting greyts for over a decade.

we've taken mostly dogs considered unshowable, abused beyond recovery, and recooping from injury. since we started, I've never been more loved in my life. I haven't been able to watch a dog race since seeing several in a pile up, resulting in an uneeded euthynsia. Since then, I have found the true horror is behind closed kennel doors. great tribute, thank you

  • I hate the way they treat Greyhounds!!! Its aweful just AWEFUL!

  • 0:53 ? ADORABLE!!

  • 0:53 ? ADORABLE!!

  • super cheap greyhound I have in my hand call me from Turkey 0542 60000 72

  • We have a rescued greyhound and he is the love of our life. I would never adopt another dog as long as there is greyhounds to adopt.

  • @cateliper0114 so have i :), she's beautiful! there such lovely tame dogs... they really are a mans best freind :)

  • @cateliper0114 so have i :), she's beautiful! there such lovely tame dogs... they really are a mans best freind :)

  • i would like to buy an island and take all greyhounds there and let them run freely, so there would be no harm to them. i love greyhounds

  • It's a good thing to make this matter public. We adopted a grey from Ireland and tried to get his brother, too, who was racing in GB. the stadium provides a trust for ex racers. The trust provides a whole months living expences. Wow. One month. And this is called dog welfare. This is the very dark side of the greyhound Industry.

  • @cateliper0114 Beware the 'Potato Chip Effect" with greyhounds. You'll always want more!

  • Nice dogs :D

  • All you people who are against greyhound racing need to get your facts straight. Do a little research, and make sure the website isn't some peta mother fucker that wants to brainwash everyone he can. I used to work in the business, and those dogs love to run that is the only reason why they do it. From the time they wake up to the time they go to bed that's what they do. If there is anyone who you should be worried about it's the people that work there. The shortest day we worked is 12 hours.

  • I think there has certainly been a problem with the greyhound racing industry and there have been cases of cruelty but I think its also unfair to categorize the sport as a whole as being deliberately cruel. Many greyhound tracks in the UK promote the charity 'Retired Greyhound Trust' on their websites to ensure that dogs are given a caring home when they come out of racing.

Greyhound Racing cannot be compared for instance to fox hunting which is deliberately cruel.

  • cont... and im not disputing there are cases of cruelty within the sport. I don't personally bet on races, but I think its unfair to demonise all breeders as sadists.

  • @cateliper0114

The song is called "TURN ON ME" by The Shins

  • I too have a Greyhound who had no interest in racing. The owner put her up for adoption, and that is where I found her. Not all owners are crap, but I know there are those that are.

Rylea was only two years old when I adopted her... she still has a good 10+ years left on her life, and I'm glad the owner had the sense to put her in a loving home.

  • good grief...Greys, sighthounds in general LOVE to run. While I agree they shouldnt be killed and dumped, those who breed and race shouldnt be burned at the stakes. My Dad is a legend in racing and NEVER did he put a dog down bc it couldnt race. I've met many breeders and trainers who adore their Greys and they shouldnt have to give it up bc of the idiots out there who dont appreciate another living being. Id like to know how many people bitch about this but make no attempt to adopt??

  • @bbbff09 Very happy to hear that your dad was good to his animals. Sadly for every breeder/owner/trainer that cares there's about 15 who don't.

  • @bbbff09 I have to agree with you, and to ChristineCAlb you need to do some research. It's not the breeder or the trainer that have a choice, as to what happens with the dogs, it's the owner. Most of the time the dogs will be put into adoption centers, and like any other pound/kennel (or what not) after a certain time of not being able to find a home for the dog they will do the same thing with a greyhound as they would any other animal. don't get e wrong there are a few that don't give a ----

  • @bbbff09 it's just like any other douche that abuses his animals

  • sadly, many Greys are mistreated and discarded when they no longer serve a "purpose". BUT this is not the case with every Grey, every breeder , and it isnt slavery. Growing up, always with a Grey or Whippet underfoot, I can tell you that they DO love to run! I dont personally gamble on them or any thing else for that matter, but educating yourself on other aspects of racing and sighthounds in general may prove helpful. RIP to those poor Greys who were only loved for the $.

  • People should atleast change now, if they are humans....!!!!!! Amazing video

  • Verschrikkelijk zo een prachtige lieve dieren,ik hoop dat de spanjaarden die deze honden mishandelen in de andere wereld hetzelfde lot mogen ondergaan.

  • didnt they have this dog on the simpsons?:D

  • I don't see why humans murder them , if they were on the track they wouldn't reach half the speed of there greyhound !!!

  • u obviosly dont no greyhound racing like i do.....im a trainer i have never hit a dog and never seen another dog be hit HOW VERY DARE U VICTIMISE GREYHOUNDS SCUMBAG!!!

  • all u bleeding hearts are ridiculous. In EVERY industry there is a small % of shady side. A small number who think they can get around the rules. Ever see a circus in which they shock the elephants until they perform. Need I really go on and on? Ok a few breeders use tactics not humane. Dont abolish a noble sport. Regulate it. Greyhounds are bred for this purpose. Ever see a greyhound take down a rabbit in real life? What about the poor rabbit? U guys are stupid.

  • i dun give a shit about animals..sept dogs

  • Makes me love me pup even more which I never thought possible....

  • My favorite is the daily double.....

  • I rescued one and his name is torn. I love him so much

  • a WONDERFUL and SWEET breed

    abuse is diabolical !

  • I've had 3 greyhounds, all retired, and one was abused because she was grey. But horseracing is also like this.

  • Well adopt one if you don't want them killed. Do something instead of bitching about shit!!!

  • and what about horse racing? is the same and you say nothing

  • If so many greyhounds are being abused may I enquire why there"s no outrage against the AUTHORITIES which are meant to look after animal welfare in each country.. Are the "watchdogs" asleep?

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you for a great video. I Love dogs and I kow ppl have exploited them I can't help that but I would love to adopt one of these great breeds with huge hearts...I feel privileged and want to thank you. God bless you

    !!!

  • tarlachmgc ....what a stupid comment you f.....g idiot people like you aint got a brian cell in their head what does it matter to idiots like you what breed the dog is killed.... Killing any dog is wrong what an idiot you are delete this idiots comments

  • How many stray dogs do the pounds kill every year? I can guarantee it out numbers the greyhounds killed.

  • Grettoppy you are fucking looser lets fight you in a ring and watch you fucking suffer and cry like the little bitch you are. you like it up the ass dont you you lil fuckin homo? ya your a bitch. dont click a video to say sumthing unessicary you bitch.

  • Go bet on horse racing, greyhound racing needs to go. I love my ex racers, the only good thing about greyhound racing was I adopted these 2 fantastic dogs, the best dogs I've ever had or ever seen and my family has been involved in breeding and showing dogs for decades.

  • Well, ____Hole: I know what I'm talking about.. I lived near a pecan grove where they discovered the dead bodies of over 60 racing Greyhounds with, oddly enough, one ear cut off of each and every one...the ear that would have identified them....You MAY be right about ONE thing...a dog may (or may not) love you no matter how badly YOU treat them...but that just makes the beast more deserving of love and protection and you an even bigger embarrassment to mankind.

  • @harpnhound

My heart broke when I read this, how sad and cruel, the poor dogs run their hearts out to be destroyed.

  • @harpnhound

Very sensible what you told. I liked it!

  • Well, Toadinthehole...I know what I'm talking about...I worked at a facility that trucked in dozens of racing Greyhounds at a time to be cut up in experiments and then "sacrificied"--they had been so badly treated at the track that they were deemed "unsuitable" for re-homing.

  • Shame on you, TheTuppyHole. Greyhounds are known for their sight, not their racing capabilities. They are, in fact, "sight hounds", not racing bitches... give your Greys up for adoption, I will gladly take them from your demeaning ass. I have seen too many Greyhounds end up in dumpsters from the likes of you.

  • You guys dont know anything about Greyhounds they love racing and if you abuse your greyhound it will still love u no matter what ( i do not abuse my 2 greyhounds Jess racing name : Jessica Rabbit or Glitz racing name : Lucy Gliterz )

  • if i abuse one, it will still love me no matter what?

  • Greytoppy, apparently that kind of fighting is quite legal now, and accepted by some sections of society. Just dont hurt your weener will you. Bless.

  • omg i AGREE with Snickerdoodle94. these dogs get abused because of this STUPID HORRIBLE SPORT! IT NEEEDS TO BE STOPPED. HOW WOULD U FEEL IF U WERE FORCED TO RUN EVERYDAY AND THEN GET WIPPED DROWNED SHOT OR HUNG BECAUSE U LOST THE RACE.? NOT GREAT. STOP GREYHOUND RACING!!!!!!

  • wow, they really treat those dogs like that? i would imagine i would hear about it on the news. are you really sure people really do that kind of stuff?

  • Oh and one last thing.

    To TroyB6911:

How about we send you to go live with the pandas instead? Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll sit on you and squash you, so the world will be rid of one more idiot. Grow up yourself.

  • To anyone who thinks Greyhound racing is a sport worth keeping, let me tell you its a two edged sword. Sometimes the dogs are trained nicely and then re-homed. But often they are undernourished, come away with scars and wounds, are afraid of humans cause of the abuse they got, or other horrible things. So if your only worried about keeping the sport alive, then your wrong. And bloodlines are shit, who cares about blood? its like aristocrats. Fucked up. .

  • Who cares about bloodlines? what kind of a question is that?

and may I ask how you know so much about how racing greyhounds are treated?

  • lol @ stop betting. Greyhound racing is a sport. It gives them purpose. No reason to stop racing. Maybe tighten up sanctions or set up a support group. I enjoy racing. It is fun and I see no wrong in it. Not like they are fighting the dogs. Which in some urban areas it is a sport. I dont think animals should be killed. If a few die in their sport it is worth it to keep their sport, tradition and blood lines going. U want them to run free with the pandas? Grow up.

  • @TroyB6911 It a not few that get killed, its most of them. 1000's of dogs, loving gentle greyhounds, some get a bullet in the head, some get starved or abandoned and the lucky few get humanely euthanased.

  • @meink09 Just curious as to where you're getting your information.

  • @coachgrieber I work at a uni facility where dogs that are already pre-destined to get euthanased at the pound are used for uni pracs post mortem. the facility also takes in greyhounds for this same use. there owners drop them off when they are no longer fit for racing ( i.e. not good enough, too old, small injury). We adopt some out but its very hard. We could refuse to take the dogs from the owners but then the owners often resort to inhumane and cheaper methods to dispose of them.

  • @meink09 these methods generally include starvation, a bullet to the head etc... We often get dogs in who look very skinny and conclude that the owner has probably decided not to race the dog anymore and not feed it for its remaining time with him/her. I do however recognize that there are a lot of owners who right by there dogs and the dogs generally love racing.

  • kevinfart1 account is closed...lets hope his EngRish teacher killed him LOL

  • I've got a 5 year old ex-racer and he loves a good run on the field. He doesn't do it for long (5 mins of running is usually enough for one day), but he definatly enjoys it. I believe that there is no harm in racing them as long as they are properly re-homed afterwards.

  • I would like to shoot you...

  • golfisgreat123 ,that is 100 percent completly innaccurate, and please DO NOT share information like this unless you have first hand experienced it. I work with shelter animals, and have been for quite a few years. Greyhounds are actually quite mellow dogs who prefer not to run. They are very sweet tempered and most get along well with other dogs, people, pets, and children.

  • I've had the pleasure of loving several Greyhounds, two retired racers (Liza and Traker) and one pup, (Guage). I agree with your sentiment, but I think the better solution is to better regulate the industry and pass statutes mandating higher standards for their care, and outlawing their destruction at the end of their career. I've never "owned" a grey that wasn't a runner in his or her heart...nor one that was just a "dog".

  • can someone tell me what Italian Greyhounds have to do with racing?

  • through selective breeding they created italian greyhounds a long time ago. i think they are raced sometimes although it is mostly concentrated with the large greyhounds. i could be wrong though. just a different size of the breed

  • Wow. I know what Italian Greyhounds ARE. They don't have anything to do with racing is my POINT. Therefore they should not be featured in this ill-informing video.

  • greyhounds are made for racing, slimlined body, long legs for speed and a lightbody, you cant do anything about it

  • this shows how smart you are. why would u put whippets in a video against dog racing? ur genius.

  • This video didn't make me think bad about the industry TBH, and I'm sure that I spotted some whippets in there too, yes I saw the fall, but my two particalary the longdog takes falls running in a field with the Lurcher, and she has so many scars, and everything from just being her, although I very much doubt that she would change that, and I bet that many greys are happy on the race track, instead of calling for a ban, target the irresponsible people, when you judge as a whole its neivity.

  • Good video.''For the greyhounds."

  • Whats the song called i like it.

  • Mike Vick just gave me a hot tip on the fifth at tampa tonight 357 excata box. Good Luck

  • Something that might brighten your day: Some vet schools provide an alternative for retired greyhounds. They live there with top notch care as blood donors (they only give once every so often nothing bad is happening here). They get to save other dogs' lives and then get adopted to caring homes, usually vets and vet students. I volunteer to walk a couple around campus every day and you'd have to be made of stone not to fall in love with these sweet natured, powerful and majestic animals. :)

  • Well maybe thats because they were bred as hunting dogs. Even though they aren't used anymore for that purpose anymore they still have that instinct.

And you try to kill your dog?! You're disgusting. If you don't love it anymore give it up for adoption, to someone who will actually be kind to it and take care of it.

  • It's good that you're against animal cruelty, but think again now.....

30000 greyhounds are killed a year. Sheep are killed for food, its the circle of life. But greyhounds are killed because they cannot run fast enough. Hmmm.... Doesn't sound like a very good comparison, does it? Dogs are man's best firned, so I don't see why man would kill their best friend if they don't enjoy running anymore.

Sometimes human beings are so dense.

  • "shut the fuck up'? You told him to shut the fuck up because he is protesting against the cruelty of dog races? YOU shut the fuck up motherfucker, animal torturer. Don't tell again anyone to shut the fuck up, bastard

  • I will never go to a race. Ever. Everyone has an opinion, and mine is that I don't think its right to force dogs to race. Yes, some race dogs are treated well and enjoy their racing career, but YOU learn the facts. Over 30 000 greyhounds are killed because tehy no longer race. Hardly any get adopted. So, good job for keeping them healthy, but before you slam a good video, LEARN THE FACTS.

  • There are 2 sides to this story.

I owned a racing grey that got injured and the track said that iif its put down at the track that I would save £30 as the track would pay the Stadium Vet.

    We saved the dog .

He made a full recovery and spent many years on a farm in Ireland in happy retirement.

A friend owns a retired grey who loved racing so much that he goes crazy if a white van approaches as he thinks he is off to race!

I've also known Ex-Racers abandoned in fields that ran 100 times.

  • listen dannoneirb, my parents were in the racing business and i know what goes on. maybe you don't hurt or kill them, but thousands do get abused and killed by trainers all the time. it is not the gayest video ever!!

  • I got the 3 7 exacta tonight at Phoenix wish me luck.

  • Yeah, I hope when someone is done with you they cut your ears off so no one can identify you and dump your dead body in the desert.

  • I'm sure everyone is done with you so you can just die today, (Keep the ears your ugly enough with them),.

  • they mite be bred for racing but they dont have to kill them do they !!!!they can go to homes cuz i have a ex racing dog and she is lazy

  • tens of thousands of greys are killed every year. hardly any are adopted out.

  • Greyhound racing shouldnt' be banned. Better regulated yes..banned...no.

These dogs were bred to run by the Egyptians.

  • Everyone knows about horse and dog racing - greed based. Plain, simple. So don't try to say that the industry gives a shit about the animals they exploit.

  • again, you're an idiot...i have watched for years how these people care for their animals...

  • Everyone knows about horse and dog racing - greed based. Plain, simple. So don't try to say that the industry gives a shit about the animals they exploit.

  • they are the best they are look after kill the protesters

  • thank god for the under educated!!! lol

learn EngRish dear redneck...better yet, delete your youtube account & never post again as your contributions to society have been met!!!

  • My two boys were five weeks off the track and we went on a hike past the gardners hq and there was a covered chain link fence and they stood there trying to see through to see the other dogs since that is where they are kept our 9 year old girl didn't race much since she is so small so she doesn't get it.. :'(

  • mii jacky boy was almost about 2 be put down

    :(

    hes safe now thow

  • See my video, They make greyt pets!!

  • some dogs like it.. as long as there not abused by owners theres no need for natural born runners not to be raced. thats what they were bred for!

  • They are intelligent and beautiful dogs. Thye make much better pets than most other dogs, no idea why ppl still need to race them, it's a dying sport. Go bet on the horses if you must. I have 2 ex racers and I am not a fan of the racing. The only time I went one of the dogs fell and was quite badly hurt:(

  • actually, you are mistaken...in the old days thousands died...this is no longer true and it is a more regulated industry than your child's daycare...

  • Actually that's not true either. Thousands are unaccounted for - in fact, the industry itself admits that over 20 thousand a year are unaccounted for after retirement. As to strict regulations...being written on paper and being enforced are two different things.

  • you're an idiot...i worked in enforcement and it was very strict...there aren't 20,000 dogs a year total retired....nice try, no cigar...get your facts straight...

  • NO! Novagreyhound is right. Not all greys get to race, so you think you know about them all, but it isn't just the dogs that get to race that are killed. The ones that never make it into a race are killed, as well as the retired ones. Tens of thousands of greys are inhumanely killed every year. They have their ears cut off so they can't be identified, and they are dumped in the desert after being shot in the head. These are the straight facts! You are towing the party line that you have been fed

  • i gota say this is not slavery!!

i work with 60 greyhounds and yes they do race. . .me and the people who all so work with me look afta them.

they enjoy racing. . . and if you say they don't ,well how come wen i walk the dog off the racing track the dog is wagging its tail?

when people say stufff like its slavery and all the dog trianers think about is money

    YOU ARE ALL RONG

theres nothing wrong with racing at all

  • i have no exceptions to racing them either...

the problem is that over in Australia once they've retired, they either get dumped in pounds or euthanised.

what do you do when your dogs have become to old...?

  • then please explain to me why every single greyhound i saw at a rescue organisation for retired racing greyhounds were all afraid of people. including the one i adopted and rescued! explain to me why she would flinch every time i went to pet her. and please explain to me why she is covered in scars. if she was so happy as a racer i must have missed something

  • she probly got attacked by the other dogs...and some of these dogs are just timid...did you ever watch her race? i thought not...

  • well of course they enjoy running. its what they were bred to do. maybe the track you work at is more humane, but the one where my greyhound was adopted from had abusive dogkeepers. There is a difference between a dog being abused and a dog being in a fight with another dog

  • beaten dogs will not run...that is a fact...i don't believe you...

  • which is probably why she was retired

  • and you cant say an abused dog wont run thats false a greyhound was bred to run dogs will run no matter what.

  • i can say that...no beaten greyhound will run well enuf to make the trainer money...how many years you been in the racing industry? i imagine i have more experience than you...

  • Actually, it is wrong. Maybe YOU treat your dogs kindly, so congrats for that. But you have to realize 30 000 greyhounds are killed each year because of races. And if the dog is wagging its tail as it approaches the track, its probably because its been sitting in a cage for the npast days and now is happy to actually breathe fresh air. and if all the trainers don't think about money, why is it they kill them after tehy can't race?

RACING IS WRONG I WILL NEVER PARTICIPATE IN ONE, ATTEND ONE

  • These beautiful noble dogs literally run for their lives every day. The people that justify racing greyhounds (or horses) only think in dollar signs, I have been involved with racing in the past and it is the smallest minority of trainers/owners that give a toss about the animals welfare. Unfortunately often the last race a galloper/trotter has is in the stomach of a racehorse.....BAN ALL ANIMAL RACING!

  • the reality is each greyhound cost 3 grand to feed per year. I have 34 greyhounds in total so this is 102 grand peryear. Once they stop generating income I cannot afford to keep them so iI hope you good hearted people out there can help me and put your hand up to say I want one of your ex racers as a pet

  • You are all on here complaining about what happens to these greyhounds, do something about it and start adopting greyhounds. Go on websites like greyhound data and advertise that you want a greyhound as a pet. I breed greyhounds, all my greyhounds are well looked after. I love all my greyhounds and am most concerned about their welfare but if you want to assist us you need to help us in finding homes for these greyhounds when they finish racing

  • OMG! OMG!OMG! i cannot believe that these horrible pplz would do that to these adorable animals! forget yall who said all this crap bout this vid. yall need to know the truth about greyhound racing! GOD PLZ HELP THOSE POOR GREYHOUNDS OUT THERE! please...........

  • The sport needn't be banned, so long as the dogs are properly cared for. The breed is much healthier than others because they are bred for athletic prowess rather than pure looks.

  • I have a retired GH. They sleep all day, reserving their energy, ready for a sprint later on. I love anyone who mentions anit-racers as though we're these people who have nothing better to do than think: Hey! Here are some happy dogs and dog-owners, let's make their lives hell! Give me a BREAK. "They're loving dog-owners!" Really? then WhyTF are they giving them away for free? And "They love to race!" Of course they do. They're just not too happy with staying in cages 23 hours a day STFU!

  • you are sick

  • Its horrible n sick that those basturds could kill such beautiful dogs, and if they could no longer race, they should give them to a family that loves them. but the sport of greyhound racing isnt to blame. its the people! greyhounds love to race if u actually watch other youtube videos.

  • Congratulations for those pictures.

You can watch our trained greyhound in our video.

He washes his face when we ask him to, it's so funny...

I hope you will like it !!!

  • They are meant run!!! Its a beautiful sight to see the fastet canines on earth in top flight!!! If we used them to hunt then everyone would be on our back about that!!! Fuckin Hippies are never happy.

  • YES ON QUESTION 3, vote YES on question 3! IF YOUR A peice of shit, you can vote on no.

    YES ON QUESTION 3

  • Why don't they use these as police dogs to chase down the criminals in the ghettos? Since, they're really fast and all.

  • it shud be against the law they shud be sent to a happy home wen they cant race

  • By the way, you have a few pictures of Italian greyhounds (not at all the same thing), as well as photos from greyhound owners I personally know. I hope you asked permission to use their photos in a video protesting an industry that at least one of them has supported.

  • Oh yes, these dogs are SO abused. My girl hates the fact that she was taught to hug and run to the point where she'll even do it without being asked.

There are some bad kennels and trainers; shut them down, not the whole industry. Very few dogs are killed nowadays; most of this information is years if not decades out of date. Get to know a few of the good owners and trainers and you'll understand why they breed and race the dogs. Some even select the retirement homes when the dogs are pups!

  • Okay, there are alot of bad breeders and kennels and they always make the news. There are also so many good kennels and rescue groups who don't get recognized. Greyhounds are great dogs, ask anyone that owns one. Okay, that would be me! Blue is the best dog I've had. Make that adopted! I've had Labs before, but nothing compares to love I get from Blue. The World's Fastest Couch Potato Rules. And they need your help.Hope!

  • i have on named rudy he is so cute i love him if they cant race good they are killed or rescued get them it is the best dog ever i dont care what you say

  • doesn't lick

  • My wife and I adopted a greyhound. Our dog Carmalitta is a great dog. She doesn't bark, bite, doesn't like, and is totally chill. She sleeps majority of the time. When I take her out in public she leans against me and always likes to be petted.

  • Just because a dog is injured doesn't mean its unadoptable and deserves to be put down. Out of all the greyhounds my rescue group places at least 50% of them have had or still have some sort of track related injury.

  • Pretty broad brush from such a narrow mind. Par for the course from another lame anti.

  • aren't they used to make glue?

i adopted a greyhound and shes the cutest dog ever! i love her

  • seisayyyy, horses are made to use glue :( not greyhounds.

  • If what you say about only 10% being "humanely destroyed" is true:

    1) There is no such thing as humanely destroying a living creature that is young and is completely capable of living a good life.

    2) 10% IS STILL TOO MUCH! There's a reason there are so many adoption groups to rescue these dogs, and it is certainly not a myth.

  • all you haters are fools i train and own 25 greyhounds and i can tell you that every one of them when there finished racing is either adopted or kept as a pet or used for breeding you guys really need to to some reserch b4 typing such crap

  • What a load of crock. I am a greyhound trainer yet I don't shoot or maim my slow dogs, I either adopt them out, retire them as pets in my home. Stop spreading these anti racing sentiments. Sure there are bad people but stop lying about how many there are, I would say it'd in the 5 to 10% vicinty.

Besides, if these bad trainers want to get rid of their slow dogs, they don't shoot them, they have them humanely destroyed and that's in Oz.

  • Okay, I have a retired racer who failed racing school. He comes from a good racing pedigree, but never really got it. He's a great pet. If you had him in your stable what would you do?

  • What a load of crock. Anti racing folks like you should be made to go to a racing kennel just to see the truth for yourself instead of perpetuating the myth that every slow greyhound is maimed or shot. I am a greyhound trainer yet I love all my dogs and if they don't win races, they still have homes here with me for life as pets. Practically 90% of trainers in Oz that I know of, are the same as me. It's only the 10% that give us a bad name.

  • Just remember, Anti racing folks, if you ban racing greyhounds, millions of greyhounds all over the world will die, and it'll be YOUR FAULT.

  • what a dumb shit you are. where do all the greyhounds go after they are done with racing? there are almost none around, check it out, if you care to. almost no one I know has ever seen a greyhound outside of a race track. where do they all go, if "90% of them are adopted out?" over 10,000 dogs are killed every year by owners of racing dogs. that is their statistic, not of those who want the racing for profit to stop. your blinders are still firmly in place, you pathetic sadist.

  • This sport is nothing but big-business and a majestic breed being a subject of capitalist exploitation!

  • you do not know what you are talking about. they are abused and maltreated and are killed if they do not gain a profit for the owner. they are considered property. they must pay dividends or they are hanged, shot or drowned. please, please stop this "they are well cared for in the united states" nonsense. this is animal cruelty pure and simple. take your blinders off and check your facts before you perpetuate a myth.

  • Check out: grey2kusa(.)org It's a grassroots non profit group that's trying to make dog racing ILLEGAL in every state. Mass. will vote on it this fall. It nearly passed in Mass. in 2000 but failed by a slim margin after the tracks spent $5 MILLION on tv ads lying to the public about how well these dogs are treated. Eight years later, the truth is out. Bye Mass. tracks...

  • I hate they treat these these wonderful dogs like this. Why can't we stop the race tracks?...oh yeah now I remember, ass holes still bet on them. How about we put a beer and $20 on a pole around the track and watch them instead!

  • Dog racing is not only a sport,it is FUN for dogs. PROFESSIONAL dog racing is Not a sport,it is a business and NOT FUN. There is a difference! There is a coursing club, that meets weekly in a field near my house.A course is laid out with a lure for dogs to chase.Anyone can see the dogs love this, they are so excited before they even get out of the cars. They know they were BORN to RUN FAST!The only bad thing about this race as far as the dogs are concerned is when it's finally time to go home.

  • To Rosivok: Yeah, but is it "fun" for the grey to live in concrete floored cages for 18-22 hours a day, eat the lowest grade meat, get little human interaction, etc.?!? Face it, greys are bred primarily for the RACING INDUSTRY FOR PROFIT!!!!! If you love grey's, adopt a former racer and don't go to the dog track!

  • rosivok - these dogs were bred to hunt - they are sight hunters, which means they rely on their sight rather than their sense of smell to find the prey. they run fast to
