  • Sorry you had a bad experience at Libby's - I first test rode the Tiger at Branchville as it's much closer to me than Libby's - but they were over $1.5M higher for the bike out the door. Haven't had any issues with Libby's service=wise yet. Having an Ohlins shock put on the Tiger - looking forward to how it will ride once installed as the Showa was way to stiff for my weight and not very adjustable.

  • How funny - I just came home from Libby's in NH, CT - and am watching your video - noticing you're on Route 34 going along the Housatonic - the road I just came home on! BTW - I have the Tiger 800 - nice choice on your Street Triple - sat on one at Libby's in purple - sweet machine!

  • @DualsportChic Thanks, I bought mine at libby's also. The sales guy Dan is kind of a dud. Had no clue what was going on with me and kinda pissed me off, also their service department was rude to me so I'll never go back there again. I'd do all my business with branchville.

  • Was that thing a motorcycle trike? Over in the UK you don't need to wear a helmet with 3 wheelers or quads I think.

  • why not Ducati Monster 696? the price is cheaper i think.

  • @abunjahal Because I dont like the monster and its air cooled.

  • @abunjahal Monster has less power, and does not have adjustable suspension. Monster is little lighter and smaller. It is probably better for a starter.

  • I miss having a STR. If only I could have been more relaxed riding it :p

  • Excellent review, awesome bike. I bought a 2012 Bonneville SE, and this is pretty much the only bike I would consider riding over the Bonnie (I know...two totally different styles). Maybe after I put some more miles on the Bonnie, I'll look into picking up one of these badboys. Great review!! one quick question...Do you wheelie? Is it easy to wheelie the STR?

  • @BrokenMachine85 I dont wheelie, but the bike from what I hear is very easy to wheelie

  • hey tronix! im picking my stripple up this weekend and am wondering how you broke-in your bike? did you do it by the book.. or something like what Motoman recommends?

  • @seanisonfire182 Did a combo of both actually. I road it easy for a little bit but then did some hard pulls like motoman states then I changed the oil. Just make sure its up to operating temp before you start doing anything crazy and dont red line it.

  • Like the comment below, how well do these bikes do on long journeys? How do they handle with rain? How reliable are they?

  • @pilot7180 Bike is very comfortable for long rides. I do a 2 - 3 hour ride just fine with no breaks. Rain riding is like any other bike, just have good clutch control and easy on the throttle. Plenty of websites on how reliable they are. A lot of these bikes an go a very long time, its how you treat them. Overall, awesome bike.

  • @Tronix102 Sounds great man, thanks for the help.

    Ride Safe!!

  • would this bike be great for 3 hour long commutes on the highway? if not how come?

  • @xfightcityx see above.

  • this bike has no fly screen does it feel weird having the wind smacking your face and chest? how annoying is it?

  • @xfightcityx I have a flyscreen now but the wind is not an issue at all. Sport bikes have fairings which redirect wind flow, sometimes directly at you if you are not crouched down. The wind on this bike just goes around you and it doesnt bother me at all... over 110mph it starts to get a little weird but nothing you cant handle.

  • Great bike. Boring road. Could not hear it rev on that boring straight.

  • I love this Striple R. i want it! unfortunately over here in Australia, we are restricted to 250CC for a year before we can get anything bigger..so i still have about 8 months left before i can upgrade >.< but i adore this bike..

  • Nice drive. Yes, he was shifting gears... he has 6 of them. That vehicle in front was probably a Harley towing a small trailer. I would love to have a STR.

  • lol, loved your commentary

  • It could have been one of those t-rex motorcycles.

  • @lancerful07 who knows :)

  • What camera are you using for this vid? and microphone?

  • So, is this bike an automatic?

  • @PRUDENCE19831 um what? LOL name me a bike thats automatic...

  • @Tronix102 Aprilia Mana 850

  • @Tronix102 I don't have any knowledge of motorcycles, so that's why I asked the (?).

  • @PRUDENCE19831 well in that case, no. I dont know of any bike that is auto except for a new honda. Most bikes are 5 or 6 speed manual.

  • Good job. I liked the video myself. Not sure why anyone would want to go to an I4 after experiencing an I3 though. Forget the ZX and CBR talk. The lack of low end on 600 I4s makes normal riding very boring. The I3 is much more present at all speeds. We won't even discuss comfort issues. Enjoy!

  • Was it a VW Thing?

  • @Weaseltube it might of been

  • u never even gave it full throttle to show us wat it can do.

  • @meda789 watch the acceleration video

  • @Tronix102 i did u still hardly ever give at a realy hard crack

  • @meda789 sorry to disappoint you. Cant please everyone with how I ride.

  • what a decent guy!!!

  • It sounds like your exhaust is stock. Do you ever get annoyed of the high whistling sound of your fuel injectors?

  • @drumheadallas I never heard this whistle you are talking about.

  • great review! thänks!

  • @Tymmz you're welcome.

  • @Tronix102 hoping to get my triple r (2008) this monday.

  • @Tymmz awesome!

  • So how long did you have the 250 before you got the Street Triple R? Was the 250 your first bike? Nice vid man....

  • @TheQuietRebel 1 year before I upgraded.

  • So there I am, trying to watch a review of the bike I'm about to purchase, and I see the firehouse off of 188 in Oxford. Howdy neighbor! Where did you get you str, and do you like them? Were the silp-ons worth while, and the hugger? cya on the road.

  • @JimStripple Got mine at libbys world. I like the slip ons and the hugger.

  • So was your total price was just over 10 thousand?

  • @vibe808 If I didnt have the trade in yes

  • @Tronix102 Thanks for the quick reply!! What is the break in procedure and mileage? I choose The ST R Over Monster 796>>>>Cant wait!!!! Im so excited to get one in December!!!!!!

  • No reason whatsoever to buy the R version, unless you're doing a lot of track days - and for the track, you might consider a more appropriate 600 supersport bike. The suspension on the R, as this guy said, it's absurdly stiff, and around town that's dangerous. Besides, here in Portugal the normal one is €8200 and the R is €9200.

  • Oh wow thanks for the fast reply. I heard you had a ninja 250, so do I. Hopefully I can get as much for the 250 as you got. I'm gonna check the triumph out and the fz8 also. But I think I'll go with triumph

  • @areibu You will like the Triumph more. Check out the 2011 naked bike shoot outs and the Triumph wins for its class.

  • I'm hoping you're in the US so you can answer this for me. What was the out the door price for this?

  • @areibu I had a 2800 trade in so i paid 7791 out the door. There was no price haggling where I went.

  • wait you pay just over $500 a year for the 2012? i got a quote for a 09 str and they told me it would be $646 every six months! i will have higher because im under 25, thats a age they have set for men, but thats ridiculous! i have state farm, i will be changing if i get this bike, who do you get your insurance through?

  • @7xtobyx7 A lot of things factor your price. Driving record, your credit score, if you own or rent a house, etc. I have progressive am I'm a gold member.

  • great review on the str, i am sold on it now, i went to the dealer yesterday and rode the 675 model, i would deffinitly enjoy the upgraded brakes but the stock two pistons were not bad, but the r package is a great choice, the suspension is uncomparable.

  • @7xtobyx7 glad to hear! Yes the R is definatly worth the money. Brakes and suspension are awesome.

  • very good review, much better than the ones made from the magazines. The only thing i missed was hearing somthing about the breaks, because the bike dosen´t have ABS.

  • @82smithy brakes are very powerful, I have been on them hard and I think they are VERY controllable. ABS is not needed unless you are riding on wet surfaces but even then, you should have good throttle, clutch and braking control.

  • Nice bike, I love the street triple! I heard you don't really need the flyscreen, but I just like the look. Have fun with the street triple ;)

  • @2R0bin0 Only reason why I got the fly screen was to dress up the front, looks alot better. I just ordered a belly pan, and arrow exhaust.

  • would u say this bike would be a good beginner bike??? love your vids man

  • @bamaboi81090 me personally, I would say no because the throttle is very sensitive thats why I started out on a smaller bike, the Ninja 250 to learn how to ride and learn good clutch/throttle control. That said, I would learn on a smaller bike first.

  • NICE !

  • @Paatrocleee thanks :)

  • Definitely made the right choice with the Street Triple!

  • @SHates I'm very happy with it

  • Nice! Been saving all my pennies and can't wait to pick mine up. Going to get the Arrow slip-ons (like the dual exhaust look,) and the flyscreen. Stay safe out there

  • @code3kc yes flyscreen and I want the arrow slip ons as well
