Each year it needs funds, substantial funds, from the federal government. Especially during and since the recent recession.

@scheie0 I couldnt tell you off hand when the CBC has turned a profit but I'm pretty sure they are doing well. If the government gives them substantial funds then why do they run more commercials than programming? Your tax dollars do not pay O'leary's salary. so they can let him say what he wants.
