  • Incidentally, they usually tell you to check the carotid first, b/c if there's not carotid pulse there isn't going to be any other pulses either.

That's what I was taught, by a doctor of medicine. In paramedic school, they teach you all the pulse pressures of all the different pulse points. It's long and involved, and I had a hard time remembering it until Dr. Cook explained it to us one night.

He was better at explaining it than the person who taught us.

  • @wasssuppp08 You have to pay harder attention to it, but you can feel it. You also have to press a little harder. If they're unconscious it's not going to bother them to press just a LITTLE harder.

    I work in Emergency Medicine.

  • I don't mean to sound stupid but what exactly does EMT stand for?

  • Shit in the 6th grade and knows CPR i'm the 10th grade and i donno how to do it and then he thinks he could have done more jheez boy give yourself a brake

  • Aaronhas an AMAZING head on his shoulders

  • 2:36 girls sitting down should never be there for help!!!

  • how old is he?

  • @wasssuppp08 you can most definitely feel pulse through latex gloves...if they're tight enough, it's almost easier with them on than without

  • I hate grade 6... Too much homework!

  • the kids were LAUGHING!??!?! :/ how terrible.....

  • "I believe CPR should be taught all over the United States in school"

I'm a high school sophomore and I still haven't learned it.. pretty shitty

  • @wasssuppp08 yes you can... carotid pulses are strong...

  • "Before it happened, I didn't know what I wanted to do, but now I do. I'm gonna be a paramedic."

    That's just so heartwarming.

  • the teacher who had a heart attack in this video is older than my mom and dad

  • good video

  • Once he said 490 is 495 rounded, I knew something was wrong!

  • I have that exact same projector.

  • That looks like william shatner..........

  • Only a kid would think he was "faking it"

  • my math teacher used to do the transparency thing in middle school. it was a nightmare. definitely not as interesting as working a code.

behold the faultless miracle of 1990s cpr. "after the 5th shock.." ..he was well done.

  • my dad had open heart surgery and lived

  • LMAO. *Sees other teachers giving CPR to the teacher* "IS HE BREATHING"? Obviously he isnt breathing if he is getting Mouth to mouth. and He has that thing in his chest now to help his heart? FUCKING IRON MAN :D

  • @wasssuppp08: yes, you can feel the pulse. The latex glove (or the substitutes they use more commonly now, since latex allergies are on the rise) is very thin. The pulse pushes or vibrates on the fingertips, and I haven't noticed a difference in being able to find a weak pulse gloved or ungloved. It's mostly a matter of experience and training.

  • @wasssuppp08 I am an Emergency Medical Technician in North Texas and I assure that yes you can feel a pulse through gloves. When I teach, personal protective equipment (PPE) is the very first point I go over. I have never done CPR without my gloves.

  • He got the wrong answer for number 2

  • stupid kids laughing when someone collapsed

  • My sister walked into the bathroom on the third day of school two years ago... I watched her walk in, but never saw her walk out. She was born with one of the top 5 worst hearts in the state. She had an arrhythmia, and just died on the spot. It was just like this, but with a sadder ending. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that I saw her seconds before she died, and I never was able to hug her one last time, or even say goodbye.

  • @wasssuppp08 Absolutely. A pulse is a vibration, and is easily palpable through protective gloves.

  • Very different CPR guidelines back then. The ratio is now 30:2, 30 compressions to 2 breaths.

  • Aw... I almost cried at the end, when he said "I'm gonna be a paramedic." I was so touched!

  • Call me a crazy old bastard, but 495 rounded to the nearest tens is 500, not 490.

  • i feel so bad for those kids having to see that:(

  • I love these shows soo much i watched them ever since i was little!

  • I think it goes to show you that even small things like taking CPR classes, even if you think you may never ever have to use the knowledge, can actually save someone's life.

  • @wasssuppp08 absolutely yes. all EMTs and paramedics utilize gloves in order to protect themselves from a patient's bodily substances, and feeling a pulse through gloves is not a problem at all.

  • It's great when situations like ths have happy endings. Though sometimes it's not always like that. Just a couple of years ago, I found out that an English teacher from my old high school had died from a bad heart. Which made me feel sad, because he was the kind of teacher who never got mad at anyone and always made class fun to be in, and he happened to be my favourite teacher. R.I.P Mr. R, who'll always be in my thoughts.

  • fucking kids laughing. that one kid is a smart one... he knew what to do

  • None of the boys in my 6 grade class would have known what to do. Most were douche bags.

This kid named Brian might have known, but he was at the high school most of the time taking AP genius Math.

He was in 6 grade taking 10 grade Math.

  • My Uncle works for the West Kitsap County Fire Department.

  • September 14 is my brother Andrew's birthday.

  • That boy is a damn hero in my eyes

  • That kid is a hero.

  • these shows are just amazing

  • I know how to do CPR cause I'm trained in basic first aid.

  • I hope this kid did become a EMT. Thats what I am going to school for =)

  • They should totally start a new series of Rescue 911 it would be awesome to see again.

  • My mom's a nurse at Providence Medical Center in Everett, WA. She and local paramedics taught me CPR when I was a young kid in school too.

  • it is funny that in this they do 5 compressions 2 breaths, and now it is 30 compressions and 2 breaths

  • Mr. Corbett was really lucky that Aaron knew CPR!!! If it weren't for Aaron, he wouldn't have survived.

  • @wasssuppp08 Yes you can feel a pulse thru latex gloves or vinyl gloves that most medical facilities use now due to Latex allergies.. Jim RN

  • u should,apply alittle pressure(pressing down)

  • hes lucky a 6th grader helped out

  • The lights would not come on that fast. Students ALWAYS want the lights off, just for fun. :|

  • what a brave kid, incredible

  • I give that kid an A+

  • I think the one that freaked me out was "heart attack teacher" (Woman teacher )??

  • The teacher in that segment was a man. You can find that segment if you look up "Rescue 911 Tipp City".

  • @SerialJusticeAvenger he must be a joker if alot of the students thought he was joking around. Luckily, one kid new he was in serious trouble right away and jumped into action

  • i remember watching this on tv...

  • that guy is a G. mad respect for him :)

  • they didn't have phones in their rooms? they could have rung into the office to have the office people call for help instead of the kids running to the office

  • I taught my little sister and her friends to do CPR after an episode of CSI we knew it was 2 breaths 30 compressions 100 per min. Then the next day we asked our local FD if we could have a tour and they let us practice on the CPR dummy. That kid did a great job.

  • is your teacher mr bade

  • My sister remembers an episode where a little boy chokes on a vegetable of some kind. She thinks that it was corn and I seem to remember it as well because after that episode my one younger didn't eat corn for a very long time. Was there an episode like this? And if so what was it called?

  • Yes, there is a corn choke segment. I don't know the official title, but basckit13 has it uploaded under the (incorrectly spelled) title "CORN CHOCKE KID".

  • @allgood2000 Not sure that was it - I remember a woman, and I remember her being fairly tall in my opinion at the time and she just straight out collapsed.

  • The only one I can think of with a tall woman collapsing is "Fancy Dancer". In that one, a woman had a sudden death heart attack after dancing with friends in a ballroom.

The only other one that comes to mind where a woman suddenly collapses is "911 Pregnant Tumbler", where a pregnant mom with a heart condition passes out while walking up the stairs. Another uploader posted that one under the title "RESCUE 911 MOM FALLS DOWN STAR'S"

  • @allgood2000 Hmm. I swear it was in a classroom and she was the teacher. Maybe I'm wrong..

  • Maybe it was this guy. Don't remember anymore. Maybe I'm just confusing with Janet Reno collapsing. Many many years ago now.

  • r u going to upload anymore

  • @allgood2000 part 2 of it isnt up tho

  • That kid was a real hero cause he was performing CPR on his his teacher. If it weren't for him, Mr. Corbett would've died

  • YOU GO KID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • will shater is awesome

  • Aaron Rankin (the kid who saved his teacher) is now a firefighter. :)

  • Wow! I guess he went to school to be one.

  • Almost all of the cardiac procedures they do in 911 videos are no longer in practice, meaning they don't do stacked shocks anymore and they do CPR different from how they did it less than 5 years ago.

They only recently-very recently-stopped doing stacked shocks.

  • yes he made it. im so happy

  • good episode

  • ok i listened 3 times, but how could a 40 year old have been a teacher for 18 years???? Seriously who becomes a teacher at 12 lol :) Can anyone shed some light?

  • 40 - 18 = 22

  • 40 - 18 = 2 DUH

  • @mryjn420090 You need a math lesson

  • LMFAO. Check your math again.

  • Wow you are so dumb.... Go back to school. The correct answer is 22!!!!

  • math fail

  • perhaps you should learn to count lol

  • dude you've been officially proven in the Gunniess World Record books as a dumbass..

  • in 6th grade a friend died in the gym with a heart problem no one knew about in 2006:(

  • THATS!!! SAD!!!

  • spontaneous or sudden cardiac arrest is one of the most scary heart problem besides heart attack

sins it a can happen any time any month any year kind of deal it reley somthing that sould not be procrastinate on getting check out

  • 4 years ago one of my teacherera had heart attack too. Unfortunately we had a complet power breakdown in school, so while I made CPR together with a friend, while someone elese ran to the nearest police station (just 300 meters away from school).

Since then we got an organized emergency-team at school, with 9 members.

  • My music teacher died of a heartattack! It hert so much because i was real close to my music teacher!

  • Every time I see this episode because about a month ago I had to do the same exact thing with my teacher! She had a severe allergic reaction to shrimp she ate at lunch and ended up having a heart attack! I am addicted to Rescue 911 and I watched how to do CPR and I did it on her! I saved her life!

  • Way to go Ladibug0123! Alot of people have food allergies and I have heard of people having reactions to seafood! I always appreciated all the first aid stuff I learned in boy scouts and like you am addicted to Rescue 911. Before Rescue 911, I liked Emergency(Roy Desoto & John Gauge). I hope your teacher thanked you & gave you a big hug!

  • good job!

  • All people should be trained in CPR. If everyone was knowledgeable and given CPR to people who need it then we'll probably be saving a lot of lives right now

  • nice episode! :)

  • i did a speech on this in speech class for College.

  • Amazing is all i can say about this episode!

  • Does family channel still air Rescue 911

  • Outstanding job they saved his life!

  • im glad the teacher is ok

  • wtf he sounded fine like half a second before he fell down

  • Yeah, it sucks when theyre talking to you then they pass out and turn blue, kinda freaky.

  • You can never tell when you are going to have a heart attack! you can be fine 2 seconds before and then you can be clinically dead!

  • Oh I almost forgot one more: Phoenix Aevorac 2 the one where a man falls from a roof, plus Phoenix Flood part 1 and 2

  • Dear allgood2000, here are the following episodes I'd like you or BeatleMoe to upload: Remarriage Rescue, Annie Fannie Dog Hero (the episode where the puppy falls into a storm drain), Pug Sewer Save, Lady's Not A Tramp, Jagged Edge Rescue, 911 Glass Cut Teen, and 911 Gotta Get To School.

  • I was in the classroom next door when this happened. Go Tracyton Tigers!

  • Just think of what he had to go through just to be able to do CPR, you have al the kids screaming and crying in the backround plus he was scared and crying himslef bet he was able to pull it toghter and save a life...Very well done

  • This furthur proves that it is benefitial to know CPR. If any of you do not have a basic understanding of First Aid, please consider taking a First Aid course ASAP, so that you can help in saving a life if the time comes.

  • i think grade 6 students and grade 10 students should be tought CPR. it could save a life. and that guy looked like my old princible but i'm going to grade 10 now so thats a long time ago..............

  • Um 495 rounded to the nearest 10 is 500, not 490.

  • that was what I was thinking...

  • They were rounding it down to the nearest ten, not up. If they were rounding it up to the nearest ten, then 500 would be the correct answer.

  • If you listened he said "Down to the nearest 10" not UP to the nearest 10

  • You don't "round down" just because the teacher says so... If the last number is 1-4, you round DOWN. If the last number is 5-9, you round UP.

Therefore, 495 is correctly rounded up to 500, not rounded down to 490 like he said in the re-enactment...

  • *cries*

  • smart kid, but the other ones, what a bunch of fucking assholes kids

  • i wonder if this boy did become a paramedic??!?

  • A couple years ago I was in 4th grade and we were comng in from reces. I was the first in line. I couldn't find my teacher anywhere and then I looked on the ground and he looked exactaly like this guy here. I was the only one that could help. I also yelled at the other kids to shut up and go get other teachers. I am in 6th grade now though. I saw this and almost cried!

  • @Ladibug0123 well how brave of you to take control of the situation and you followed your guy I could never be brace like you you are a true hero and you followed your gut good for you

  • O_o wow

he saved his teacher n hes what like 11?!

  • Well, babyhorse3, you're never too young to save someone's life.

  • Spike354: Ive also known how to do CRP since age of 4, and when I turned 8 years old I learned how to do CPR on baby - it is really important to know I think!

  • Good thing my teachers doesn't had a heart attack.

  • its acctually hard to do cpr...kid done well

  • smart kid--he knows what to do in an emergency

  • I wish my school was this nice

  • the kid kept oxygen flowing through him until the paramedics arrived, had the child not done cpr instantly and constantly.. its almost certain that the electrical shocks would have been unsuccessful.

  • I salute the young man who saved his teacher. He was a brave person to do CPR.

  • wouldn't you get the kids out of the room in that situation so that they don't freakout?

  • How did the lights come back on?

  • I am so proud of that kid!! About a month after i first watched this, i had to do 2 sets of back slaps on my own father because he choked on a pill! But it came out after the second cycle and he was perfectly fine!!!

  • Its amusing how the CPR rations have changed...watching them do the compressions slowly...when today we do them around 100 per min. Good thing the kid knew what he was doing.

  • wow. its seriously really sad that you're being critical of a kid. A KID! wtf is wrong with you.

  • this is to maggielovesgod2

cpr cannot restart the heart. The pumping continues to circulate the blood and helps to stop the brain from shutting down. Only a defibulator unit can restart the heart.

  • Way to go Aaron!

  • This kid is a hero.

  • The kid save his life because when he fell if the boy just left him he would die because it was to long, and i trust the boy to save someones life when he is older and going to be a paramedic.... well done x

  • I can not imagine giving CPR to my teachers! He must good grades. LOL

  • maggielovesgod2, as an EMS worker and firefighter, I have to agree with BeachBunny13. Considering the EARLY ACCESS of the CPR by the student, regardless of the quality, had he not acted the way he did, the outcome for the patient could have been totally different and fatal.

  • I learned CPR before becasue I'm lifeguard......but in a real situation, performing CPR is different from practices.

  • That must have been scary for that kid, but he did a great job he kept his cool and did what he learded from his parents..

  • I used to teach 3rd grade and knocked myself unconscious when I slipped on some fluid that leaked out from the air conditioner. Apparently the kids ran out to get help for me. I don't teach anymore, but I'll never underestimate kids again.

  • the vid was in 1993. they did CPR with 2 rescue breaths, and 5 compressions. its 2009 now, im a newly qualified Lifeguard and we are tought to do CPR with 2 rescue breaths and 30 compressions (instead of 5).

  • God bless that kid :-)

  • Dude the kid just did cpr but the peramedics did the full time job. but still the kid did rlly good at least he knew cpr to save da teacher.

  • GIVE THIS KID $100

  • When the lights were off, it looked just like our Grade 6 class room.

  • that scard me it was random

  • what did the kid do? No offense but the adults saved his life. His heart wasnt at all beating after the kid stopped.

This is only a big story because the kid did cpr.

BTW: again no offense not trying to be mean

  • Actually the kid did a great job. You do CPR because it keeps the blood circulating which give the victims a higher survival rate. The paddles are what starts the heart again. And the first few minutes are crucial. That kid did save his life by jumping to action so quickly. If he hadn't, it might have been too late.

  • thanks for explaining that. I had NO IDEA. I thought he did nothing. My mistake.

    sorry again

  • OOOPS I meant to give you thumbs up that was an accident. You are right I recently updated my CPR training.

  • so agree my mom is a nurse at the princess royol in telford shes has tought us all how to do cpr that lad was very brave a lucky to have parents that tought him those things he did save his life like you did say brave lad aint her

  • if it's a V-fib caused by a heart atack, the heart it's still working, but it is not effective (it's fibrillating) and the blood is not moving so the brain has no air (we usually have 4 to 6 minutes in this situation, after that the survival rate is not so high),so we use the paddles to makes the heart stop, and it's supposed to start again alone. If this not happens, the pacient need drugs for making it start again. The kid saved him life by making the blood flow the time the paramedics were coming.

  • In cardiac emergencies you have to respond within the first few minutes, b/c the time span for successful recovery is 8 min. There's a golden hour for other traumas, but cardiac emergencies need response within 8 minutes.

CPR gives 20% circulation, which is enough until medics arrive.

I know b/c I'm a paramedic and cardiology is my chosen area of expertise. I'm also an EKG technician and have been an EMT-D [D for defibrillation].

  • He reacted, tried to do CPR and got help with the other kids. Of course he's not a medical professional, but he deserves recognition for helping his teacher get medical help. Those kids did a great job!

  • First off the kid DID save his teachers life. If CPR isn't administered withing the first 4 to 6 minutes then usually there will be brain damage due to lack of oxygen. CPR keeps the heart pumping blood and the breaths give oxygen to the body. So think before you speak especially if you don't know what you are talking about.

  • SCREW YOU JERK!

  • The point of cpr isn't just to get the heart to start pumping again. It's also a manual heart pump. In other words it keeps the person alive long enough until emts get there and can use their equipment. So in a way he did save his life...

  • The kid did a good job at leased he helped out he cares about people instead of writing -4 comments

  • I remember when this happened since it was in a school district near my own. They had a big article in the paper about it. That student went above and beyond in helping his teacher! (I remember many kids who would sooner jeer at a teacher than try to help.) Thank you so much for posting these up. I really wish this show was still on the air.

  • smart kid

  • I love happy endings. I have enough of tragedies! This boy is absolutely incredible! And the best thing, the teacher whose life the boy saved, is so grateful and happy to be well again and to be back with his beloved students. It brought tears to my eyes....

  • Nope, it's just a job title. Same as a doctor, a paramedic, or a pharmacist.

  • 3:25 omg she kissed him

  • ive known how to do CPR since age 4

  • rlly thats an awesome skill to know... ive known since about 10. All students and workers should be rewuired to take basic CPR class

  • I agree. First aid should be taught in school. Super basic first aid in Elementary school, first aid and CPR in JHS, and more advanced first aid and CPR in SHS. Should be a part of PE or something.

  • 2 beat that

  • So do I .

    : )

  • i know our highschool did it.....taught CPR....it was in health, which was a mandatory class. I graduated from DCHS in 2007. I'm now in my 2nd year of College, training to become a Nurse. My Dad has been a Registered Nurse for 33 years. I'm a Certified Nurses Assitant. I have to renew my CPR license this summer of June 2009.

  • lol his shorts were well above his knees

  • I decided to be a Paramedic after something similar happened to me. Instead of a teacher, it was my youngest sister who had the life-threatening emergency.

I never wanted to feel as helpless as felt that day, and I liked the way the EMTs calmed our fears.

I wanted to do that for other families, so I became a Paramedic.

  • Hi my name is Ryan Castle i work for the St.johns Ambulance Gibraltar im 12 and i have saved a life 1. My dad when he had a cardicac arest.

  • how many email addresses do they need to bring it back on tv?

  • Way to go, kid!!!
