I'm sticking to my diesel Benz thank you very much. I could not care less about Lexus as they never had diesels here in America, and so far 35+ MPG from my diesel seems like a pretty good deal to me.
XF is not a bad car per se, but it's ugly and will fade from the pages of automotive history as a cute, but unwieldy, false promise of a new chapter of Jaguar.

Jags have had perpetual problems with mechanical parts, and for many decades (even now) they have crappy electronics, not to mention unspeakably awful rust issues.
I was about to say the same thing, could you be more specific about which bit do go wrong. I must note that many of the electronics have improved over the last 10 years and indeed some of those used in most Mercedes are used in most Jaguars - usually from third party companies such as Bosch, SIemens VDO, Autoliv etc. The Nikasil problem was also experienced by BMW - both companies had to replace engines on warranty. And rust resistance on XK, X, S, XJ is up to industry standard.
current XJ and XK are all aluminium and XF uses Ally ancillaries, so that will blow must of your argument out of the water. The last AJV8 was a well proven unit and had no problems. I also suggest you take an XF for a drive it actually works really well, the only other car I would have would be a Lexus...
